just moved to NY from Maine afew months ago due to a messy divorce. was about to blow my brains to confetti when someone called the cops cause I was acting funny. Said thank fuck someone called you I have a gun in the car i was going to shoot my self can I turn it in to you?? My dad who I hadn't talked to in 2 years or more, hired Denis nave with out my consent, not sure how. Chris cook was my appointed public defender. the only thing I can think of is my VA POA, after 3 days of not eating or sleeping getting arrested for the first time having my only phone call be to my ex wife and not speaking to a lawyer, or being given a rule book or any brief on what to expect... I was dragged out of my cell. I said Im not going.... 6 cops knocked my tooth out dislocated my shoulder and gave me a black eye... I didn't fight back, they were just too weak to move me... Im very strong. I wasn't allowed to even shower, or leave my cell for over a month as they threw my meals on the ground. Eventually Janice from the VA strolls over and explains that my family had been in contact and that my lawyer was Dennis not Chris cook.... Dennis basically says stfu " it doesnt matter what happened, I got you a pled deal. Guns illegal fuck the circumstances you're guilty, no prision time, 6 months in rehab, and NO mention of your military disability And no mention that you didn't and dont have a drug or alcohol problem and weren't under the infuence at the time of arrest... No chance to explain your side of the story, just do as i say or the cops are going to kick your shit in again.... They're already forcing me to making me take "orlanzapine" as a sedative and only giving me paper spoons cause they're scared of me.... Not as scared as they were after they beat me up and realized I wasn't on drugs and lying but that I actually was there for voluntarily turning in a firearm to insure my well being and they just jumped an innocent half black disabled veteran.... Still got treated like shit What the fuck did I do wrong... I lost nice Apartment in Schenectady I missed 1 card payment 820 credit score drops to 760 Seriously the fuck did I do?? Missing tooth 6 months in rehab where I pick up smoking and still struggle to quit?? Do laws even exist or is it just as long as the cops and the judge are on your side you can get away with anything?? Yeah I wouldn't use this guys firm. read more

Attorney Mr. Giesler was negligent and misrepresented my DWI case. He showed up to court and allowed the Assistant District Attorney to offer a plea deal based on an accident that never happened due to his lack of preparedness. After the plea offer in the courtroom, Mr. Giesler explained the deal to us explaining that due to my accident, they were still charging me with a DWI and would have a suspended license for a year (basically the standard first DWI charge). When I reminded him that there was no accident in my case, I was parked on the side of the road when the trooper pulled behind me, he back tracked and said 'well, this is a standard plea for you blowing a .16'. After we questioned that statement (having been previously told my level was under the 'aggravated DWI' rating, he admitted that he often has a habit of just agreeing with the ADA and repeating what was said by the ADA and he then thought that the ADA may have had my case confused with another case of his. He did not exude confidence and immediately agreed with the ADA. Had Mr. Giesler been remotely familiar with my case, especially after 6 weeks of working with me, while in court for that hearing, he could have corrected the ADA, confirmed there was no accident and we would have been offered a more acceptable plea. He promised to promptly address this error, however, we then didn't hear from him for several days. After that we contacted his parent company, who assured us they would correct this issue and definitely thought Mr. Giesler was negligent. Before retaining Mr. Giesler he thought he mentioned my charges and said he could possibly get it down to parking on the pavement; I hired him 12/26/22 and had a call 1/5/23 discussing my case he was going to follow up with us immediately and he did not return calls after giving me updates. Prior to the visit they did not get my assessment that was preformed on Jan 13th that was needed for the court date. I called and got the information myself doing his work for him to submit the day of court. Mr. Giesler had no prior knowledge of my case after nearly a month. During the three weeks of discovery he did not get a copy of the therapist assessment which was completed before the arraignment. I spoke to him a week before he did not have it and my therapist stated she never heard from the attorney and it was never requested. I switched attorneys and would like my money that I spent returned. The owner of the company did return my call and stated Mr. Giesler was surprised I was not happy. However he offered not charging me additional but would not refund the I already paid. Now I am going through an extra month of a suspended license which would of now been over with due to the delays. Thanks no thanks! read more
