I have never filed taxes with H&R block before so I thought I'd give it a try. Last year, I did it on Turbo Tax (which was cheaper to do) but I wanted to go to a professional this year because I had more loan paperwork and more employers. I felt like my case was slightly more complicated than it was last year and I didn't have the mental brain power to sit down myself and decipher all the legal lingo on my own. I made an appointment online for the next day and that was super easy to do. I had an appointment with Jerry and he was ready for me as soon as I stepped in. He took time to explain things to me and threw in a few jokes here and there. It was a pleasure working with him. He has had 17 years experience in this field and has a PhD. I felt confident in his hands. The process took around 40 minutes and cost $198 (double what I paid to do it online by myself last year). Do not forget to bring your ID and your checking account number and routing number! There is plenty of parking at this location. The interior is very clean, warm and professional. read more

Good news: They got me the highest refund compared to TurboTax, this explaining the 3 stars…read more Bad news: After filing my taxes, I received email and messages offering me a refund advance; I applied online for the advance and was "approved" for an advance- I was excited, all the things I could do for my family sooner than later; I "accepted" the advance and was then told I had to see the Jackson-Hewitt desk at the local Walmart Store. So I make an appointment in good faith. I do into the Dewitt Walmart and am directed to the Jackson Hewitt Desk next to the bathrooms / stockrooms. The tax preparer, who was polite, intelligent and a victim of his own companies mistakes, informs me (while over-hearing the dis-grunted employees and customers in and out of the bathroom) that there is a "disconnect" between Jackson Hewitt online tax filing and Jackson Hewitt direct filing. He says I have to pay hundreds of dollars to re-file my taxes then MAYBE I could get an advance on my refund. Their email / messages are misleading to the point of being fraudulent. They wasted my time and disrupted my work and upset me!!!!!. I am going to report them to the BBB.

I own a small…read morecorporation and needed to have my 2016 & 2017 personal and corp returns prepared because my prior accountant retired and I wasn't able to find a quality accounting firm that didn't charge an arm and a leg. I met with Joe Pompo and he explained to me in lay terms the process and sequence of filings past due returns. He was overall very responsive to the many emails/phone calls I made (admittedly I reallty don't know much about taxes so his willingness to break things down in a way I could understand was a huge help. Currently, I use FJ Pompo to do the book-keeping for my company and Paymaster Payroll for my payroll needs - Paymaster is owner by FJ Pompo. The cost of the accounting services ended up being a little more than half of what I had budgeted based on my prior accountant. I would refer F J Pompo, specifically Joe Pomo, to any of my friends and family. I am not being compensated in any way for this review and I am not related to/affiliated wifh anyone from FJ Pompo, however, after the returns were filed Joe did mention that his business grows primarily through referrals and word of mouth so I decided to write this review

They were so helpful in sorting out some of my misc income, and some other oddball stuff that we don't deal with every tax year, and for the first time in forever we got a refund from the federal and owed the state far less than I had anticipated, so I call that a win! Fees were similar to what I would have paid TurboTax or H&R, and I didn't have to deal with any of it this year :)

This choice was also influenced by a small business adventure started last year and first time doing taxes for it, meaning we wanted a professional. The initial scheduling was very easy and received support immediately with what to bring and what made sense for us given our new and unique circumstances to us. We were thankful for that. At our appointment we got in, filled out a brief check in sheet and immediately sat down with our advisor. He got right to work sorting through the paperwork, organizing and inputting our information. We were explained things along the way and we were able to ask questions as needed. At the end they showed us how all the numbers worked out and what our refund would be. You get all the typical options of bank routing or check in the mail for state and federal. The fee from them was 175 to do our taxes jointly. Which is exactly in line for doing it ourselves with turbo tax. Taxes aren't exciting and I was thankful Liberty took that burden from us this year and greatly simplified it.

During my recent experience with this company, this was my results. They did not listen to me when I attempted to tell them they were ruining a piece of furniture by carrying it by the fabric only. They did not wrap my furniture to be moved until I insisted they do so and even then only after they had pushed and shoved it unprotected through a door jam without even trying to remove the door. They were to move a piece of furniture from 2nd story to the 1st story, and the piece of furniture got stuck in the stairwell because they did not have the equipment/supplies to prep the piece and still continued to try to jam the piece of furniture down the stairs (unsuccessfully at that - and had to put it back to the room it was in), damaging not only my furniture but the walls along the way, I guess they should have measured first. Oh wait, you have to be a professional to think of that......I have yet to hear from them concerning reimbursement for the damages. This company insisted they had the proper equipment even after seeing the job intended to provide my estimate, however clearly did not feel it necessary to provide them. I had hired them to clean out/remove unwanted items from a storage area also, but after the first half hour of them botching things, I felt this company was completely inept at handling even this small task. I had to ask to leave, before anything else could be damaged. I am SO disappointed that my surprise for my husband was unable to happen due to me believing this company could do what they were hired to do - as there was not enough time before my husbands' return to go through the process of hiring another company.
