I completely agree with another client who posted a negative review for Sterling Myers and American Wallworks on Google. BEWARE of this guy. (And you can save yourself the time of reading my review by just looking at the photos.) Sterling was able to schedule me the same week I called for drywall repair (now I know why). I only needed him to fix a small wall dent and fill multiple nail holes from wall art, which I could have done myself, but I was busy packing up the house. I was optimistic at first because Sterling showed up on time and was very friendly and talkative. I wanted to get other things done while he worked, so I pre-marked all of the repair areas with tape. But instead of just getting to work on his own, Sterling insisted that I point out each nail hole and watch while he applied large amount of mud/joint compound to the tiny holes. It seemed like overkill, but I trusted his much espoused "expertise." I was so distracted by his constant talking that I missed the fact many of the holes weren't filled at all. Here's the crazy part, Sterling then hauled out his industrial texture sprayer and proceeded to blast the tiny nail holes with huge patches of texture. No measures to protect the adjacent walls, trim, baseboards, and flooring were taken--anything within a five foot radius was fair game. And since many of the holes were still open after the mud, he just over sprayed them massive amounts of texture. Dear readers, this is the most shameful part of my experience--I actually helped him wreck my own walls. He couldn't lift his air compressor up and down the stairs on his own, so I had to stay with him and help him lift it. He also asked me to fetch my own heavy ladder from the garage because he (a wall repairman) didn't bring one. So, everyone, I actually watched this massacre first hand. I honestly thought he knew better than I did as a professional contractor, but he constantly talks as a distraction so that you don't speak up despite the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. It really is a complete con. All this to say that I had a huge mess to clean up and lots of repainting to do--and I was only charged $900 for the trouble (I guess there was no discount for assisting him with the work :-). Seriously, RUN from this business, people. Not only does Sterling exhibit serious signs of senescence, both mentally and physically, he only cares about getting paid as I got the impression that he's in dire financial straits. I actually cancelled the check I gave him after I gathered my wits about me. When I called him to discuss how badly the repairs looked after painting them, he offered to come back out fix them so he could get his money. OVER MY DEAD BODY, readers, would I let this man get near my home again. I agree with the other reviewer. Sterling is very charming (initially) but then by the end of it, you realize he is either senile/crazy or an extortionist trying to get every penny out of the willing buyer. You will regret it: Buyer beware. This is not a company, this is a one man show where he brings in hack crews for a day that by their work don't know what they are doing. I think Sterling knows what he is doing when it comes to taping and mudding, but my impression is that he is not normally managing himself or crews: that this business is really a side gig where he makes extra $. When he first came to the house and walked around, he gave a verbal quote of $2 sq ft. Then came the actual quote / contract: 2 pages of everything that he was going to detailed out and not going to do detailed out, and what we had to do to support him- some surprises (especially since I have managed other drywall installations, where this wasn't even something we would have considered); had a price range, and then after bringing back and not using more than 10 sheets of the drywall, charged me the max amount, ~ $4 / sq ft plus a change order fee of $400 for something that took him all of an hour. Had things in there: like customer will help haul drywall in (which my husband regrettably did), will do all the masking and clean up (which we did, but they seemed to take advantage of it by being extra messy), and the price: 2-3x what it should have been, and more than 2x the initial verbal quote. By the time I got the official quote, I was in a bind, had not gotten any other bids, and the pressure was on because my daughter needed to move out of her apartment and into this house (preferably with drywall). Yes, my husband did help bring in dry wall. We also spent days cleaning up after them, in some cases having to replace screens, wash all the woodwork to clean the mud and texture off, outlets and switches that he uncovered so he could have light and power, chucks of mud all over from floors to windows ; we even got to clean up after lunch, including (we think they threw the) stray chicken bones we found in the yard thrown in post a pizza and wings lunch (we have a dog and this is a problem). All the while, he kept telling anyone who would listen how hard the work and the job was and telling me this job, compared to other jobs was "Apples to Oranges"- it was all ceilings and walls- not sure what is oranges about that. Also "he did us a favor" by shimming the drywall (according to Sterling that is the framers job or owners job- not in my experience hiring previous drywallers). As for the masking, he tore some of it down so he could walk through, and then subsequently sprayed again, and of-course I then needed to remask for paint. The cutouts they made in the drywall for the majority of the outlets were more than oversized to where in some cases after "completion of the job" we had to patch tape and mud in order and cover with oversized outlet covers. And I had to deal with him harassing me the whole time "I should charge you for all the stickys you put on the wall (where I identified oversized holes that needed to be patched, which he did not fix) that I had to read them all" relative to the oversized, hacked out holes for electical boxes: using "what I or my husband said to justify what he was doing: "your husband said this", or vice versa, pitting us against eachother. We also had several things turn up missing after he and his guys were the only contractors in the house including a bluetooth speaker, blades for work knifes (I guess they needed them more than we did- being "professional drywallers"), and some other random tools. Mediocre at best, unprofessional, and if you wanted haul in drywall, shim the house, prime in between drywall and mud, and then fix the work post the job completion all the while having to listen to how hard he is working and be harassed /called names in the end of it all , pick Sterling to do your job- otherwise, do yourself a favor, get another quote from a reputable company that will clean up after themselves, that are more interested in doing a good job, and you will have it done in 3-4 days the right way, vs 2 weeks and a lot of grief and extra work on your part, paying a premium for mediocre work. I will say from when he started on June 14th, he was willing to work weekends (as I said Sterling is a one man show, working weekends) to finish by June 27th with texture (2 weeks), and he recommended we prime in- between the drywall mudding and the texture, which we did (but only brought up after he had started). My previous experience getting drywall installed was nothing like this. I am sure Sterling will respond with Apples and Oranges: just the facts as I see them...I can post the contract and pictures, and Sterling may have gotten 10 k out of me, but the drywall is done and an accurate review of what happened is posted- Cheers read more

American Wallworks repaired sun damaged louvers around my house a made them look new again. A crack in my fireplace stucco was patched/painted not long ago to where you would never find the repair. read more

This is a great company. They re-did several sections of stucco on our 1923 era house and also repaired some of the brick facade. We were very pleased with the end result. It is very hard to match stucco color and texture and they did an admirable job of matching up both. Because they are so good, they have to schedule jobs a ways out, but if you have time to wait, Amerian Wallworks is well worth the wait. read more
