We highly recommend Jay Jensen if you are considering building a custom home! Our first opportunity…read moreto work with Jay was when we purchased a home that he was in the process of building. The experience of completing the project with him, and then the 10 years we spent in the home, convinced us that our next home would also be a Jensen Quality Custom home. We have now enjoyed 11 terrific years in the beautiful home Jay helped us design and build from the ground up. Jay's creativity, attention to detail, and customer service made the entire process exciting and fun. He is always responsive, willing to listen, and very helpful with the sometimes overwhelming details that are involved in such a project. The quality of craftsmanship and the unique design ideas that Jay provided made our home a place that we are truly proud of. Mark & Debbe Llewellyn

The bid he provided was very reasonable, and he didn't bill a cent extra, despite doing extra work. All we had to do was pick out flooring (at a nearby company) and pick out paint colors! His communication was excellent from start to finish and the best part...he's a really nice guy.

Rich used his incredible creativity to design and build the roof to look like it came as a part of our original house. You cannot tell it is an add-on 17 years after our home was built. It perfectly blends in with the original home and yet it is brand new. We had some unique and challenging requests in what we wanted and Rich's energy and creativity was able to pull it off, just liked we hoped. It came out perfect. I don't know how Rich and his team could have done any better and he kept it all within his original quote, even though he did incur some unexpected expenses. We volunteered to cover some of those extra expenses, because they were not his fault, but he would not let us. If you want someone with so much experience and knowledge and skill and creativity and honesty and transparent communication skills - you better call Rich. Thank you Rich! As a first time homeowner I was concerned about hiring someone to work on my house. I probably interviewed about 10 people before choosing James. He even provided references when I asked for them. I'm so glad I went with my gut and hired James. My first project with him was a wall addition which he executed perfectly and on time. My second, and much larger project, was a complete remodel of my front porch and balcony. As a woodworker myself (and with a father who was a contractor) I was worried that whoever I hired wouldn't have the attention to detail that I was looking for. But James met those expectations and exceeded them. Take a look at the photos and you'll see what I mean (those corners line up so well on the porch steps, it looks like art to me).

Actually, we got a…read morebroken contract and 2 weeks of wasted time looking for a contractor who could handle building a barn kit in the mountains. Christy was actually good to work with and presented us with an acceptable signed (by her) contract that we accepted in return. Then she showed up with her partner (?) for what we thought was a quick look at our property an to pick up our deposit. That's when the whole thing became untenable. Her partner (?) began by saying the contract was simply an estimate that could be cancelled at any time. He could say it a hundred times but that doesn't make it true. It is very much a signed contract that uses the word contract within it more than 35 times. He also announced many times that they weren't making any money off this job; that makes no difference to us as that's a problem within their company and it's cost estimating process. We just wanted a barn kit built with the least effect on our pocketbook. He also was very aggressive and would interrupt us when we would attempt to put forth a solution to one of his supposed problems, ie. too expensive and/or difficult to get equipment up here in the mountains. Our answer was to offer the use of our skid steer (frankly we didn't really want a stranger using our expensive machinery but we were attempting to mitigate his "problems"). In response to this supposed "difficulty of getting here" we cited the moving vans and equipment delivery we had recently employed. Also cited was the cost of a porta potty from town. First I offered our RV toilet then, in an email the following day I forwarded information from a local company that would charge only $250 for the time of the entire project. (Obviously I didn't want a bunch of workers using my rv toilet but again, we were attempting to solve a problem.) He was so rude that I finally had to tell him to stop interrupting me. Unfortunately, when I'm furious I get teary and that gave him the excuse that he needed after wasting our time for two more days before saying I was "too emotional" and they weren't going to continue. I even flat out asked him when he was here if they were pulling out of the job and he couldn't even be honest enough to say "yes" at that time. Two wasted days later he cited my email as, again, "emotional" although it was simply a reiteration of the solutions we had offered and the positive experience we had had previously of a mountain house build and that it was neccessary to think outside the box when working in the mountains. Frankly, I'm not sure they had legal grounds to cancel the contract but it keeps me from having to tell Christy that her partner cannot step foot on our property again. I'll gladly share the contract and email to anyone so they can make up their own minds. During the visit Christy stayed very business like but her partner (?) completely took control. He did her no favors for advancing the company she founded.

We closed on our Hudson 55 model Bridgewater home built in the Sonders neighborhood in November of…read more2025. It has been 3 months post closing when I am writing this review. To start with we have had a great experience with Bridgewater and all the staff (Holly, Nate & Kyle). We feel we are lucky to have had Bridgewater as the builder. We have previously owned 3 different homes in 3 different cities over 30+ years, but this was our first new home build. Many of our friends told us how much of a headache building a new home would be and how painful the process would be; it wasn't a headache and it wasn't painful mainly due to Bridgewater. It did take some significant effort to understand and research all the options and focus on the decisions to be made, but that level of work was expected. We chose a lot of options, +2 ft to the back of the house, +4 ft to the front of the garage, +2 ft to the side of garage, finished our basement, and too many others to name. We were able to add some Tharp custom cabinets in our laundry room that turned out awesome. My suggestion is to ask others what options they chose and really like, what options they didn't choose and wish they had chosen. Read through the long options list many times, understand it, think about the things you can change later if needed vs. the ones that are more permanent. The work and decisions that need to be made in building a home are not easy but can be rewarding. I truly have a house I love, reach out if you a have question I can answer. Also I've read all the reviews and nothing is perfect, understood. It seems the years around the covid pandemic must have been a challenging time to build a house or have a house built. I wish that I didn't have to write this review, but I feel that anyone that is considering…read moreBridgewater for their next home should hear about our experience. This company builds a great home, we are in no way dissatisfied with the quality. Their customer service is where they dropped the ball with us. We signed the contract to build this home in late April of 2021 with a completion date of November 17th, 2021. We knew that this date would likely be pushed back a bit due to supply chain issues and labor shortages, but we didn't end up closing until April 29th, 2022. During this time, we were misled, ignored or flat out lied to by the representative we were working with. Her name is Cynthia Murphy and I highly suggest avoiding her as your salesperson. After quite a few months of this, we started working with Holly Braning and she is the one person that actually treated us with respect and did an amazing job. My dissatisfaction extends all the way up to the owner of Bridgewater. When I spoke with her about our experience and tried to hold them financially accountable for an option that we were told was included but wasn't, she told me that we were lucky that they were even honoring their contract with us! There is a certain way that I conduct myself in business dealings, and I don't care what the situation is, I would never say that to a client. We closed over a month ago on this home, and we still don't have the front yard landscaping installed (which is provided by Bridgewater). There are two incomplete homes on our street that have their landscaping installed, but ours is still missing. During the punch-list walk 1 week before closing, there was a long list of touchups that needed to be done, and nothing has been completed or even scheduled. The lot was never cleaned and there are nails and construction trash all over the front and back yards. We have blue and green tape all over the house and every time I see it, I wonder why they have decided that we don't deserve to be treated as well as all of the people who have left great reviews on this same site. We had such high hopes for this project because Bridgewater has an amazing reputation. Because of the way we were treated not only will we never build with them again, but I will make it a point to tell everyone I know to never use them either.
