I'm extremely picky and I really can't find anything critical to say about the job that they did. They treated my house like it was their own, putting down drop clothes and protecting my floors. They cleaned up at the end of every day and let me know what their schedule was for the following day so that I could plan accordingly. They didn't skip a step and as far as I can tell, they used the best quality materials at every juncture to make sure the finished product would be perfect. Basically they hold themselves to the highest standards throughout the project and I don't think you can ask anything more from a contractor. If you have any kitchen or bathroom remodeling to be done, I would definitely take the time to contact Matt and give him a chance to earn your business.

What is notable about this job is that we have a home that was built in 1918 so our house does not have straight lines to work by. He made it look as though we did...that is a hard task. He has also demoed and installed a new tile floor in our powder bath, also not level, and it turned out flawless. The powder bath also needed new glass installed and and additional piece of wood trim...the tricky part was he needed to make it blend into the existing trim that is 100 years old...he did it and it looks beautiful.

I sent photos and Matt said the cost would be $85 per hour for labor plus materials. He estimated it could take up to 4 hours for the job, which we thought was excessive, but agreed to hire him due to the great reviews. He thought alltogether it could run from $350-$400. Being a business owner myself, I assumed he was quoting on the high end but would actually charge me for what he said - labor and materials. The job done by his one man crew was excellent. I must say the quality was great which is why I am giving three stars. However, the guy was at our house for just under three hours. I got a bill for $400. We priced the materials at less than $40. When I asked for a breakdown of the bill, he said it was three hours of time at the home, plus an additional hour to go pick up the materials, which comes to $340 and then exactly $60 for materials. I understand the upcharge on materials since they potentially did not have a 2 x 4 and some plywood on hand (though I find that hard to believe) and had to go get them. But then to upcharge and add an additional hour just so he could charge us on the high end of his quote is poor business practice. I verified this with other companies. He should have explained ahead of time that there would be an automatic one hour charge to pick up materials. I would not use this company again simply because of their poor business practices.

I contacted Rob from Hero Exteriors and honestly everything from that point onward was a breeze. He made excellent recommendations (new siding, new roof for house and garage, paint house and garage, new gutters), told us when they'd start and when they'd be finished (actually wound up starting almost a month sooner, which we were fine with, and aside from limitations due to weather they finished everything in the number of days he said it would take), and throughout the entire project he and Jack were in touch with us regularly, making sure we were happy with how things were progressing.
