I highly recommend American Rooter. Marvin arrived at our home within 45 minutes of our calling him. Marvin was professional, courteous and very efficient. Marvin actually charged us less for the job that he did because it was straightforward and easier than expected. We will use American Rooter again and I will recommend this company to anyone who has plumbing needs. Marvin is a true professional through and through. read more

Marvin did a GREAT JOB showed up quickly, was very courteous and efficient. He charged a fair price, a was super cardedul going about the work. Would definitely recommend read more

American Rooter shows respect for customers by posting their prices, no surprises. That caught my attention as pricing can be contentious, especially at 9:00 PM. Marvin comes highly recommended with good reason. He returned my call, when he said he would. He arrived at the time he said he would. There's a pattern. As for the work, it was first class and quickly done. I'm glad I found Marvin and I will be a customer for life. read more

Marvin is amazing. He's a real down to earth guy that does an excellent job. I've used him many times now. The first time my 7 year old son jammed something down the shower drain and wanted to help get it out. Marvin allowed him to assist and then paid him $30 afterwards! That kind of thing doesn't happen these days. The latest job was a faucet install and Marvin coached his son who did a perfect job. read more

Responds promptly, can come in an emergency, provides good customer service and fair pricing. We are repeat customers.

Marvin is awesome! He's efficient, knowledgable, professional, reliable, tidy and besides all that a kind and decent person. He has successfully cleared clogs and roots from our very old terra-cotta sewer lateral a number of times. His rates are very reasonable for the quality work he performs. I recommend and trust him 100%! read more

Oops. Forgot to review American Rooter but better late than never, right? I prefer dealing with local companies and found American Rooter via Yelp when I had a problem that caused water to flood the garage around my washing machine area. Marvin (the owner) stopped by and we mutually determined that the washing machine was fine and that the issue was a clogged drain causing water to back up out of my washing machine drain pipe. He quickly cleared the clog and when I asked him to do preventative maintenance and run his rooter on my main drain line, he cheerfully agreed. Pros: - Very reasonable rates - Wiping down the side of my washing machine afterwards! It had nothing to do with the clogged drain but Marvin, I appreciate your attention to detail! - Cleaning up the debris drudged up from the clogged drain inside the garage and from the main drain pipe on the outside of the house. - Takes credit cards (yeah, hotel points!) Con: - Well, if anything, Marvin didn't give me a price on the preventative maintenance work on the main drain line until after the work was completed but it was still very reasonable and next time, I'll ask first. Marvin's a small business owner that I'm happy to recommend and use for other plumbing jobs I need his expertise on. read more

One of our old pipes broke late on a Saturday night, flooding part of the crawlspace beneath our house. We called Marvin first thing Sunday morning, and he responded quickly, saying he would arrive early that afternoon. Sure enough, Marvin arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem, and explained what needed to be done. After a quick trip to the hardware store, Marvin squeezed his way into the crawlspace to fix the pipe. The whole thing only took a couple of hours and was completed at a very reasonable price. We could not have asked for better service from Marvin. He was professional, friendly, accommodating, and always positive. We're glad we found our go-to plumber! read more

I have a few rental homes and I am always in search of reliable plumbers. Marvins been one of the best plumbers I worked with. He's reliable, diagnosis the problem quickly and his prices are much much more reasonable compared to other companies. I highly recommend Marvin and I want to thank him for his prompt, reliable, and quality service. read more

Marvin, the owner, happened to be across the street working on a couple of neighbors' irrigation drains and he stopped by to help us. We have a superhighway of drainage in our backyard and the storm on New Year's Eve caused water to backup because we had lots of root blockage. Marvin made several trips out to our house to get the job done so that we would not have to dig up our patio. He is a perfectionist and seems to take on jobs as a personal challenge. Not only that, he left the work area clean and tidy. He even sent us YouTube videos so that we would know how to tackle the irrigation repair. Highly recommend Marvin. Provides an extremely high level of customer satisfaction. read more

Marvin is the best professional plumber you will ever get! I had an issue with my shower handle which was not turning off water. He gave me initial quote for opening the shower up and another quote if a cartridge needs to be replaced. Immediately, I sent him pictures of my shower handle, he was quick to tell me that I can fix this by myself and shared steps to do it. I don't think anyone will treat you with such professionalism. Also, by just looking at pictures if one can provide solution then as per me he is a real pro in his work. Call him if you need any help with your plumbing and other needs. He is the best bet! read more

Marvin was an absolute star to work with! Clear communication, a reasonable estimate, no frills, & all quality work! We had some old pipes replaced for our washer, and Marvin did the work with such ease! Super enjoyable to talk to and connect with, and was also able to check out another project we need done to give me an estimate. Super grateful for your expertise, professionalism, communication, and amazing quality work, Marvin! Hire him to support local San Franciscans! Thank you again. read more

Having an old home that needs attention. At least once a year or sometimes twice a year I need my pipes cleaned. Marvin did a wonderful Job. He had a long day yet made time for us. He did not try to sell me any other services. Which I really appreciate . Every other tech always wants to sell me more services. But Marvin knew I just needed this service today. Thank Marvin ! I am sure my husband I will use your service again ! read more

I had a leak at my rental going into my garage. Unsure of where the leak was originally from and other types of damages It would cause by morning time, I contacted American Rooter's. Marvin answered my call 20 Minutes to Midnight under distress, and to my surprise he came to my rescue. He Relocated my leak, cleaned my drainage and repair damaged plumbing from my leak. He was very professional, honest and hard-working. Great drainage work. I was very satisfied with work and reasonable prices. I strongly recommend. read more

Accurate and knowledgeable ! He knew exactly how to handle the problem at a 1/3 less rate.

Excellent service! Marvin was prompt, priced fairly (he gave and honored the estimate), and most of all he was EFFICIENT!! He was willing to explain his work and did so in layman's terms as well as cleaned up the area he worked in, completely, after the repair. He worked on one of our toilets which is one of those repairs that must be done quickly. He was here maybe a total of 2 hours (including a run to Home Depot). I felt comfortable having him in my home. He has a very positive and cheerful disposition, which was refreshing. I am glad to have found a good plumber! read more

professional, cleaned up after, really cool and nice guy. Easy to talk to and work with. Will use again and highly recommend.

I contacted Marvin for a problem with my kitchen sink. He said he'd call me back and never did. I reached out again a few days later, and he said he'd have to pull over to talk to me and could he call me back. He never called back. He might be getting good reviews on yelp, but only if you can get him to respond to you! read more

Not capable of solving the problem the first time, and very difficult to communicate. Out of multiple repairs he has done for me, only once did he fixed the problem in the first trip. It is difficult to ask him to go back to complete the repair because he rarely returns phone calls and return text message with one or two days delay or no response at all. read more

Good pricing. On time. Great guy. Good with tenants. Had a clog and he cleared it out by removing the toilet. He also gave some helpful tips for the tenants and that was very useful. Cleaned up around the area really well too. Thanks Marvin! read more

I have an old house with clay drain pipes. Every 2 years or so, I get grass roots in my drain. I called Marvin this morning about my blockage, he was already on a job and told me to text the address to him he would give me an ETA when he knew better the time he would be finishing up the job he was on. Marvin responded within 5-10 minutes of my text with the ETA. Marvin arrived on time and my problem was quickly remedied in a professional manner. Great communication, quick service, fair price....I couldn't ask for anything more. I will call Marvin next time I need help. Thank you! read more

Marvin was awesome. Not only did he come all the way to Richmond at 650am, but he worked fast and the prices were super reasonable for the excellent quality of work. Marvin is very honest and offers great efficient and fast service. He went to test one of my rentals and didn't charge me anything. He went back the next day after the shower got re-clogged and only charged me $75. He talked to my tenants and handled everything hassle-free. I highly recommend that you give him a shot. Marvin has been great the two times I have needed help with plumbing issues at my house. He is very prompt, friendly, professional and thorough. He completed a french drain for me project efficiently and at a low cost compared to other estimates I'd gotten. He cleaned up well and spent time going over the work with me afterwards. Recently, Marvin responded to my call on a holiday weekend when my system was backed up due to a failing lateral sewer pipe. He unclogged my system, and completed diagnostics the following day. He emailed me an itemized estimate for needed work the same day. I highly recommend him. Julie read more

Impressive work! I dropped a cat food can lid into the toilet and of course the toilet ceased to flush. My concern was that the toilet would have to be removed and the lid fished out that way (expensive). Thank you Marvin, you are brilliant! read more

Merwin fixed our kitchen disposer and did a great job .Very reasonable and skilled in his work.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I was so happy with Marvin's and Plumb "N Time's work that I urged him to list on Yelp! (just sorry I delayed writing this review so I am not the first reviewer). I found Marvin when I was looking to replace a leaking water heater in a SF rental property I own in August '14. Problem was I was out of town and it was late on a Friday afternoon. Marvin got back to me quickly and from speaking with him I felt comfortable hiring him sight unseen (though I will admit it was a bit of a leap of faith....). It turns out that faith was entirely justified. Not only did he pick up a new water heater and replace the faulty one that next day (on a Saturday!) but when a pipe burst in the tenant's bathroom vanity after the water main was turned back on, he quickly repaired that leak (and did not charge anything extra). The fees were very reasonable and the work was very professional.... Can't recommend them highly enough. read more
