I had American print my "Highliner" book in 2009. They did a very nice job with the green foil stamping, and I managed to print 102 copies of a very limited signed first edition for just about $11 each, and I don't mean a pamphlet. Highliner has 688 pages, perfect bound paperback, and they managed to keep it under the 1-1/2" thickness limit by using 50-lb. white bond with minimal showthrough and, of course, acid free. I was really pleased with the CIS cover and it being able to show all the driving pictures and aerial photographs I took.
I spent the better part of thirteen years (yes, that's 13) laying out 900-plus pictures and hand making over 200 diagrams of the stupid things that people do when they drive, in the hope that some willing teenage driver might want to be one-up on his peers. American Printing was able to get all my chapters on preventing road rage and the killer instinct, topics of which I know all about. Oh, well (sighs). It's not their fault that I wrote a book on a saturated topic, but there is consolation in knowing that even the cheapest copy, investment opportunity, is selling for twice the retail price. I signed each copy in increasing rarity of colors to add to its future value. Residential driving, arterials, freeways, freeway driving, senior drivers, teen drivers, best driving book, driving examples, driving photographs, driving pictures, word search puzzles, mazes, hidden objects, crossword puzzles--I packed it all in there. The rights to this book are for sale.
