0 Star This is the worst moving company and I will not recommend anyone to use their services. I moved my shipment on 28 May from Spring Valley, CA to Atlanta ,GA. It has been more then 2 months and I have not received my shipment at the destination. During this time I tried to contact more than 100 times to American movers team , AMC quick relocation (their partner for the move) and support team. Every time from support team I get the response that I will receive a call or email about the update but I did not got any update. AMC quick relocation is not picking my call and my wife health is serious now and I have no update about my shipment. I need my shipment as it is very important and my wife health is getting impacted without our all essential items. Do NOT use this company. The person over the phone said things that were complete lies. They said I could follow the truck to a new state.. When I called the customer service number 2 days after signing, I was told a completely different story- then I was told they could take up to 2 weeks to drive 9 hours! I explained to the guy that I had a 2 bedroom apartment full of furniture. They end up only putting dow 300 cu ft and when I called them back and said that's not right. RIP OFF COMPANY!! I WAS CHARGED STARTING AT $2000 and ended up at $10,800 for a move from California to North Carolina. FOR A ONE BEDROOM 680 square feet condo!!! They told me it would be 6 days and it took 3 weeks. The driver who dropped off was in such a hurry and rude. All they want is money!! Stay away from this company at all cost! They're a broker. They offer you a low price but you're only paying their fee. The actual movers charge much more once they get there. Total rip off. We canceled our move with them 14 hrs after we booked, well before the cancelation period. Now they denied our request for a refund. They stated that they already scheduled a driver to for our move so they can not give us the refund. But, we never even gave them a move date because don't even have a closing date yet. This company quoted us a move for $4300. We paid them by check for $2179 . Three days later they informed us that they wanted $8000 and wouldn't even consider refunding our money. My wife and I elderly, handicapped, and disabled. We have been totally ripped off. There corporate office in Casper, Wyoming isn't even listed with the Better Business Bureau. American Movers Direct is a scam! (Moving Estimate 3686567) An active duty military member is changing base locations (PCS) and decided to handle his own move. AMD gave an estimate of $8200 and the member paid $3200 for a down payment that was all on a contract. The movers came in Penske trucks and told him the move will actually cost $17,200 and gave no itemized information on how it will be that much. The soldier called AMD to explain he cannot afford $17,200 and wanted to find another place. AMD told him his name was not in their system and then said it has been 72 hrs and you will not get your $3200 deposit back and hung up on him. Not everyone has the funds to go after a scam like this, so thankfully this soldier has the full force of the Dept of Defense legal system. I scheduled a pick up for 9/29/23. First the movers didn't come until 10/1/23 at 8:00pm at night. That should of been the first red flag. Then the mover told me the amount I paid for was only for 30 boxes which I told Richard that I have 30 boxes plus a king size bed frame and mattress plus a full size bed frame and mattress. Plus 4 tvs. He said he can give me revised numbers. This man told me $7300 !!!! This company is ridiculous. I asked for a refund and this scam company told me no. It's non refundable even though it's their fault for lying for the amount of items I had.I'm a single mother of two kids that works doing Uber eats. Please don't waste your time with them. They requested a list of items that I will have them transport but when the movers came they said I didn't have enough space on the truck for my items. The movers didn't have a list of items that they were moving. I had to show them what they would be taking to find out that I wasted my time and money. They couldn't take my items on the small truck that was brought and the customer service represent informed me that I couldn't get a refund. American Movers Direct was the worse customer service and experience I have ever had. The truck was days late to get to Cleveland, OH and terrible communication, at one point I was told the truck was in Pennsylvania and stuck in the snow. There has not been snow for weeks and then about 2 hours late I was told the truck is in Nebraska. The truck had a 2 day window and did not make that timing. The next morning I got a call saying that the truck was stuck in the rain in Michigan. This overall process was horrible! The truck finally arrived and the driver tells me it will be thousands of dollars more For my items and this was not communicated. The truck driver also could not tell me when my items would be delivered even though the trip was five hours away. Overall this company was horrible costumer service. DO NOT USE THEM!! read more

I hired American Movers Direct to move some furniture from California to Wisconsin. I paid all but $600 of the cost upfront per their policy. They picked up my furniture, but never delivered it. They have no Customer Service representative who can tell me what happened to my furniture. They have not offered to refund my money. When I call, I get an answering service who cannot answer any questions. They take my email address and send me an email that contains a phone number to call. But no one answers at that number. There is no way to get in touch with any person at this company. This has been going on for several months. read more

Avoid this company at all cost! They will give you a low quote and make promises about how they will take care of you throughout your move and once they get their deposit, they hand you off to another company and you will never hear from them again. They made us promise after promise...dedicated truck, delivery in 3 days, to call them if we had any issues and NONE of that was true. First of all, 2 days before our move they tripled their price and you are then stuck because no one has time to find another mover in 2 days, then we were told to call them if the movers tried to charge more - we called, texted and emailed - never got a return call from anyone, our stuff was split into 2 trucks and not a dedicated truck and they took 30 days to deliver it. During all this time AMD never returned calls or responded to emails and when Roger finally answered a text (long after the movers had our stuff held hostage) he was rude and condescending and refused to help with anything. They take advantage of people by getting you to agree to a low quote then double or triple it when it is too late. Save yourself some time and money and use anyone else but these guys. Sadly, the original reviews I found elsewhere were positive and wish I had found these sooner but my experience is similar to most of the others. Based on an album of photos of my place, I was given an estimate for a pack and move with a volume of 931 cu. ft. As I just moved two years from Denver to Boston, the estimated price of ~$7500 I got from Richard Dawson for the move to Chicago seemed reasonable since my previous pack & move costed $6,800 and I had basically the same amount of goods in a 2BR.2 BTH apartment (to note, I have been moved 10 times previously for my job, twice previously in the last six years but this was the first I had manage directly versus the employer handling it). When Anthony (Zubidat?) of the sub-contractor Express Movers Inc. showed up with his crew, he noted he "had" to do a visual/on-site binding estimate and essentially threw away the original binding estimate. Anthony changed the estimate from 931 cu. ft. to 1,785 cu. ft. and the cost went up to nearly $14,000 and it left me scrambling to come up with an additional $6,098.50 on top of the $1856.55 I already had ready for the 2nd deposit. Effectively, as it was the last day of my lease, they used the opportunity to commit extortion. I have a lot of goods but while 931 Cu. ft. is heavy for a 2BR apartment, 1785 cu. ft. is more like a 5 BR apartment!! I was then concerned as they also pushed back the delivery by almost a week that they were going to extort more at the end but the final delivery went without issue and, thankfully, nothing was broken. Anthony spent time explaining how my "luxury" my move was and eventually noted is extremely high mortgage which added more insult especially since this new job came after being out of work for a year. I was lied to continuously throughout the 8 calls I made regarding the move we planned using this company. ultimately today, a 2,000 cf miscalculation by "Richard Dawson", several conversations with "Brandon" regarding my 4,000 square foot house and are they sure it's the right amount for 4-20 ft uhauls and 3-10 foot trailers and they all confirmed that would fit. I asked for call logs to be pulled to show what I was quoted, Brandon said they wouldn't do that. spoke with Roger who assured me (I am sparing you all the gory details about what happened), when I called him back- he hung up on me and when I called back and left a message- Jaime or Jesse yelled at me when I asked what day they would be there to pick up my stuff so my husband could be there to unlock the storage (scheduled 7-8-9) he told me I didn't plan well. Craig was helpful today checking to see the inventory and when I explained the whole frustrating situation- he advised I would need a while semi not a 20 Ft trailer and I was misquoted. it went from $6,000.00 to $15,000!! I lost $1,000 deposit to hold the dates, and would be required to pay cash, money order or electronic check (all of which have no recourse to get funds back or dispUte.) do not schedule with American Movers Direct, LLC- you can't even see who owns them on the wyoming Secretary of State website! I will be disputing the $1,000.00 charge as well as BBB and CFPB and DOT complaints. read more

This is a scam! Requested my $500 deposit back after reading the moving contract and felt some things did not sit right with me. I was hung up on 3 different times and none of my emails answered regarding reimbursement for my deposit. I documented everything that was going on daily as proof and sent to the company. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The biggest scam company I've ever encountered. I have no idea how they are ranked in one of the top companies to do long-distance moves after seeing their Yelp reviews. I don't know if the moving company itself is in cahoots as AMD is a broker company but clearly, they are used to people's quotes being severely under. I gave the broker an exact inventory/sizing of all furniture, and an estimated number of boxes (20-25) and he gave me a quote. The movers called the day before the move and said the broker had listed 70 boxes and no furniture. I contacted the broker and the moving company and told them that was inaccurate and went over the physical inventory again. The broker said the extra 55 boxes of space is equivalent to what my furniture would take up. MY FIRST RED FLAG but at this point the deposit was non-refundable so I had no choice but to keep with them. The mover said he couldn't give me a new quote over the phone. Once they got here, the quote was MORE THAN DOUBLE what I was quoted and they added on packing fees even though the broker told me it was all included. Clearly this is how they run their business, apparent by how little interest management for both American Movers Direct and Exclusive Movers, LLC reacted. Both acted as if THEY were not the ones who received the information and gave the quote for cubic feet. Like you expect me to believe a furniture moving company doesn't know cubic feet to be off that severely?! And their deposit is non refundable because "you cancelled" if you turn the movers away for not wanting to pay an extra $2K the day of. Richard and the team are all scam artists, living off the deposits because I imagine the only people going through with them are people who are too desperate to do anything else in the moment. read more

I can't emphasize this enough. Take your business elsewhere or sell your stuff. This was not worth the headache.American Movers made us feel very comfortable in the beginning, gave us an unbeatable quote and made some false claims about the fees we would incur. We were quoted at $2000. Our items, their sizes, and the service requested did not change (other than removing items we decided we no longer needed). In the end we were going to be on the hook for over $3000 in charges that ranged from miscellaneous packing tape, use of an elevator, extra shuttles, and an additional 50 cubic feet.When our movers showed up with a higher estimate the broker could not be reached. We had the option of turning them away (and having to sell everything in 2 days before we left) or signing an invoice for these additional fees. We proceeded to have a horrendous move with items stolen/lost and damaged. All without support from the broker, because their customer service is a front. Be warned, they will insist on making a payment through a debit card or check, which makes it virtually impossible to claim a request to refund from your bank. read more
