I'm a Disabled Air Force Veteran and former Airborne Radar Technician on the AWACS. I went to…read moreVeterans Rebuilding Life for a helping hand after relocating from the Caribbean to NYC. I found Veterans Rebuilding Life (VRL) on Google and its been an amazing experience. They are very respectful and understand the trials of a military veteran in regards to the time consuming process of applying for Veterans Affairs (VA) resources and services. I was able to get some emergency food, clean clothes, socks, hygiene products as well as opportunity to work gigs to make money through Veterans Rebuilding Life (VRL) non-profit's huge list of supporters. I feel blessed to have stumbled on this non-profit that really does what they say to change the narrative of how veterans are being treated in this country. If your a person who's interested in donating to a non-profit that really gets to the root of the problem and provides a solution think of VeteransRebuildingLife.org they can use your donations to help more veterans like myself get on their feet. Thank you so much VRL!

This review is strictly about the volunteer service arm of VFW Post 3350 in East Rockaway, NY. I'm…read moresure the hall is as lovely as the gentlemen associated with the space. Here's what I wrote yesterday.... Saying "thank you" is not enough. But it is important to say even if it feels like a soft whisper. Today veterans from the Robert F. Garrison VFW Post 3350 (East Rockaway, NY) dedicated countless hours to help my Dad, Carlos Velasco. Pete Vitulli, Gary McCusker, Pat Iuliucci. These men are incredible men. If you don't know who they are, you should. They served our country nobly. And now they are giving of themselves *all* over the New York state area. Through their post they manage a diverse set of tools to help the disabled. They are givers. Their hearts incredibly large. Dad, a Korea War veteran, is 85 years young and recovering from a recent fall in the home. Accessibility in and around the house has been an issue. While VFW 3350 really wanted to gift our family a chair glide, the layout of the house did not match up. After speaking to our family they identified an area they could help with: Wheelchair ramps for the front and back doors. Charlie and Betty Moll-Trabold (VFW Post 400, Farmingville, NY) housed these rather bulky ramps in their garage for some time. Words cannot thank them enough for their donation. Early this morning (it was still dark) the East Rockaway team met to pack the ramp. They drove over an hour to get to work. One would never guess this was their first wheelchair ramp installation. The ramps are p-e-r-f-e-c-t. The team thought quickly on their feet to make modifications. When it became necessary they eagerly jotted off to Lowe's Home Improvement to purchase additional materials. The partnership between New York state VFW posts was seamless. A veteran in need was helped. Tony Mazzacone, Dennis Sullivan (VFW Post 4927, Centereach) brought their usual cheer along to make my Dad smile. We are all smiling tonight. These ramps have opened doors for our family. Please accept our gratitude. Thank you.
