I absolutely love American Kolache and all of their delicious choices of Kolache yumminess! They have a flavor mix for everyone's palette from sweet to savory. The breakfast and BBQ kolaches are my favorites, but the folks working are always willing to give their favorites too if you're looking for something different to try or if you can't decide! This is a unique spot to get some super yummy munchies for lunch and breakfast that everyone will enjoy!

Oh my this place is delicious. I did not know what a Kolache was until a friend introduced me! But all the unique flavors they have from breakfast options to lunch options - there is something for everyone! Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Came to visit my girlfriend for a couple days with my fam and fortunately enough this place was less than a 5 min drive from her house. Now, being from Las Vegas I have never even heard of anything like this. She mentioned the name and I have never heard of a "kolache" but man was I surprised with how TASTY these were. She did a little variety of them and I was happy with every single flavor. We tried the bacon, egg, & cheese, the brisket, bacon Mac and cheese, and pizza! All were so flavorful and the buns were so doughy and moist. My favorite of all was the brisket! When I come back again I definitely would like to try some of the sweet flavors.

Very kind staff that were ready and willing to explain and give suggestions. We tried quite a few and I was surprised that there was so much meat in each one! They are not skimping on the goods and trying to just give you bread (but the bread is so good, I probably would buy just the bread alone). There are SO many flavors to try and I look forward to trying them all. So far my favorite is the meatball.

The day I decided to try AK, I first checked out AK's facebook page. It explained the website was having problems, so that helped me be a more patient version of myself while I navigated the website. I found the red "order now" button didn't include a link to the Edwardsville location, and neither did the one in the footer. The order-now button in the header ribbon DID include a link to this location. But more than half the selection seemed to be "sold out" by 11 a.m. on a Friday. So I decided to go there and see what was actually available. As I approached, I noticed the convenient location in the Edwardsville-Town-Center development, southeast corner of Governor's Parkway & IL-157, with easy access, After I parked and walked inside, I found there was a basket of Pappy's Brisket and Pappy's Pulled Pork, both of which appealed to me. A box of four was my lunch. The friendly staff did ask if I'd like them warmed up. I'd describe kolache as being something like doughy dinner rolls with baked-in filling. As a lunch, these were quick, easy, non-messy, tasty, and filling. But at $3 each, plus tax and tip, kind of expensive, in my opinion. I'll probably will look for a coupon next time.

We live in Michigan. My husband was recently in Edwardsville for a weekend trip visiting some of our friends. He stubbled across American Kolache. He just knew it would be something I would be interested in. My sweet hubby waited until his last day there to buy some. He went there right when they opened in the morning and bought six different ones, warm, packed the box in a cooler to preserve their freshness and drove nine hours home to Michigan! And over the next couple of days, we enjoyed reheating them. Wow were they delicious. I've never heard of Kolache's before. We had all savory. My favorites of the six were the pizza and the sausage gravy! His favorite was the meatball! Looks like we have a Kolache place about an hour from us, but prob won't be anywhere near as good as American Kolache! I looked forward to visiting Edwardsville in the future and stopping by again!

I finally got around to stopping by and trying kolache for the first time this morning. The service was quick and they were very helpful when explaining things to a newb like me. The inside is set up like a donut shop but there are more savory kolaches than sweet. The sweet tend to be open topped like a Danish. Savory are usually enclosed (sort of like a bao bun.) I like the savory ones best. The bacon egg and cheese was great. The sausage gravy was also good (though not much gravy can be out inside of it lest it get soggy). The sweet ones are a little heavy. Not flaky like a danish but more like a slightly sweet pizza dough. They're easy to eat in the car if you're like me and you can't wait to get home to eat them. And they write what you ordered inside the box lid so you can remember when you get home. I picked up breakfast and lunch options so I'm set for the day! Definitely worth trying. Then hit up Goshen Coffee on the other side of Kloss furniture for a tasty local beverage.

Good, but could be better. Flavor of the kolaches themselves were great. Hubby got the Smoked Salmon and Buffalo Chicken and I got a Sausage, Egg & Cheese and a Cherry Cream Cheese. Out of all of these, I liked the Salmon the best. It was AWESOME! My least favorite, surprisingly, was the Cherry Cream Cheese. Just not all that wonderful IMO. One bothersome thing is that they didn't offer to warm them up. Good thing we were eating them in the car! After eating one each, hubby took them back in and requested them to warm them, which they did. Just feel that this is something that should be asked by the employee EACH TIME. Definitely NOT cheap, but for a quick treat every once in a while, it's a solid choice.

Really good food. Just wish they didn't run out of some flavors. Best if you try to get there early.

Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.

Less than 5 minutes I got my drink, super delicious if you ever get the chance to try I also got a new food items, the pecan sticky bun & raspberry muffin looked too good to resist! I'm also a big fan of the 'day old pastries box' because I do try to cut costs when I can it's only $7 & I love the idea of getting a surprise! They're always delicious and taste like they were made that morning. I can tell they use real, quality ingredients for their food. I have issues sometimes with gluten and certain processed breads, but I really enjoy being able to have something sweet without all the extra junk! I got out with spending about $25, pretty good deal and better quality than most places! I like to support small/individual businesses when I can, I really believe you do get a better experience and product. My favorite place to go to for coffee in Edwardsville, so if you're looking for great coffee with great service, take a look at this place, you won't regret it! support small business

Within the last month, Sacred Grounds has had a change in ownership. For some that is sad news, but…read morethe good news is that the new owners so far have been keeping the same high quality service and products. My recent visit was to take part of Javapalooza being sponsored by Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau. When it's warm outside, I enjoy my coffee iced. My go to is, Vanilla Honey Latte with whole milk. If you're having a latte, why not go whole hog and enjoy that whole milk. The rich fullness of whole milk, adds to the flavor. Looking at their pastry case, it was hard for me to choose. However, once my eyes saw the Pizza Scone, I wanted a savory treat over a sweet. The scone was full of flavor, but a little on the dry side. After a couple bites, the dryness did not bother me, because the flavor was so good. Scared Grounds is located on the Main drag in downtown Edwardsville, so next time you're in town, be sure to stop by.

My visit was on a Monday, so it was a great way to kickstart a new week. Once I glanced over their pastry case, I knew exactly what I wanted. I'm a fan of scones and blueberry-lemon is a favorite flavor and they just happened to have one in their case. As my caffeinated beverage, I choose a vanilla and honey latte iced. The scone was top-notch. I was impressed by the number of blueberries that filled my scone. I also enjoyed the tangy flavor the lemon gave it. Blueberry & Lemon, in my opinion is a perfect combination. The texture of the scone was right in the middle of moist and dry, which gets a two thumbs up from me. My iced latte was a great way to start my Monday and new week. The vanilla flavor with the blend of honey, went well with my scone. I enjoyed that they used whole milk in the preparation, it adds a richness to the latte. The cashier who took my order was super friendly and made giving and taking of an order a fun experience.
