The sweet aroma filled the room. The desserts appealing to the eyes and making my mouth water. So many options. I had to make a decision. Customer service was pleasant. They handled each customer with care. They didn't rush me. I know i took too long to decide. After finishing my order I kept adding to it. I had to hurry and leave tge building before I added even more to the order. I ended up with 4 delicious cupcakes and a gooey butter cake. Everything was so good. The gold rush was the last cake that I purchased. I had completed my order. But got back in line to get it. 2 ladies told me that I can go ahead of them. I told them I already ordered and I'm ordering again. I initially got 3 vanilla butter cream cupcakes. Then I saw the gooey butter cake. I asked the young lady to add that too.. This location is kind of hidden. It's in the back corner of a strip center and off the main road. However, it is still easy to find and parking is a breeze. Yesterday, Sophia my little fur-baby had a vet appointment that was just a block away. Being a good dog dad, I made sure she arrived early. In fact, we were so early I had time to kill so I made a stop at, The Cup. To my delightful surprise, they had a special on two of my favorite flavors and they were combined into one cupcake. I love lemon & raspberry. The cupcake was called, Spring Fling. It was a lemon cake, with Raspberry cream cheese frosting and a raspberry filling. The cake was moist and soft. Most importantly, the frosting was not overly sweet and did not overly dominant the cake. It was just the perfect amount of topping. The lady working the counter was attentive and made friendly conversation. I was glad to see that they are part of the, Gift-A-Meal program and that they offered Student Discounts to those who attend SIUE. That's community supporting community. read more

We got a 6 pack of cupcakes and a cookie. The girls at the counter were extremely nice, we told them we had never been there, and there was no pressure to make a quick decision. We stayed there and ate one of our cupcakes. They have a couple little spots to sit and eat, so we didn't feel rushed or anything. Just relaxed for a bit and enjoyed a cupcake together. Tried this cup cake bakery on a stop over in Edwardsville and were pleasantly surprised. We tried two seasonal cupcakes (pumpkin spice and a mint monster). Both were moist and tasty. The icing on both was also quite good, with flavour that complemented the cake. The monster was festively decorated with a candy eyeball on top, and the pumpkin spice had a nice piece of good quality chocolate on top. We also tried the butter cake, which was also quite good. I'll also mention that the cashier was friendly and helpful, but didn't offer anything more than what we asked for (the only question she asked us was the name of our dog). read more

I loove The Cup in Edwardsville! Their cupcakes are great -- so many flavors of cake that taste like what they are -- each different from the rest. I appreciate that they don't overdo the frosting -- what you get is a jumbo cupcake (suitable for splitting, even!) and a nice topping of real buttercream icing, also in real flavors. I really enjoy the cup they had the best cupcakes! Their cupcakes are better than Smallcakes, Jilly's and all the other cupcake bakeries in the area. The thing I love about the cup is that they have a jumbo size cupcake and it is competitively priced. I don't mind paying three dollars for a good cupcake that is moist doesn't have too much frosting but has enough frosting to complement the cake and has a good variety of different cupcake combinations. The cup is consistent the service is always great whenever I go and their cupcakes are always fresh moist and delicious. I'm glad to see they are expanding and getting into catering cupcakes to weddings and otherbig events because their cupcakes are much better than some wedding cakes I have had. I love they have a rotating menu of speciality cupcakes but also has the standard flavors all the time as well. This weekend I took advantage of the April's fool cupcake that was decorated and served like a box of Chinese takeout fried rice and it was cute as well as delicious! I also Like their cupcakes because even though you may not eat a cupcake on the day you purchase it it still taste great the next day. I had worked for two of the cup locations five years ago. The cleanliness in the back of the cupcake shop is GREAT. They keep everything in pristine condition. The product is made well. I still go back every now and then for a cupcake. Which says a lot because after having worked with the company for almost two years I still want to eat there. I am writing an update for this place because I've recently been back there and I bought some cupcakes for my weekend co-workers. I also got one for myself because I couldn't resist and I guess, I just want to reinforce the fact that this place really do make great cupcakes! My co-worker's first initial reaction from a small bite was "mmm this is pretty good" and after the second bigger bite, he stated "This is pretty darn good!" and later on added that he'd have to say it's the best cupcake he's had! That was of course, followed by the "I told you so" but honestly, The Cup makes such terrific cupcake and I am glad it's close by. I need to come here more often. The people that work there as awesome as well and very helpful. When I was standing in line waiting for my turn to order, I noticed that they have so much patience explaining their cupcake varieties to the curious (might I add, drooling) clients! So this is the second location for the Cupcakery! The other one in the Central West End is just as awesome! I am so happy they opened one in E'ville! The cupcakes are really sweet! I've loved the Cupcakery since it opened in the CWE and boy was I elated when the Edwardsville location opened. I love this place. A cupcake makes the perfect little gift for a friend or the perfect little treat to share. The Italian Cream and Pumpkin cupcakes are my absolute favorite, and I keep meaning to try the coffee cake one. It's hard to buy a cupcake though when the REAL hidden treasure of the Cupcakery is the absolutely delicious oatmeal cream pie. I love these things.
