I ducked into this place to use the bathroom and saw their menu and said, "why not?". Probably should've just used the bathroom and skedadled but I was hungry. The place has some... "character" to say the least and some characters. After ordering a "hot" wings and fries with a soda for 6.50 and 1 single leg of fried chicken, the owner started chastising these two homeless gentlemen who, apparently, never leave his establishment. They just eat chicken all day or something, who knows. Probably his best customers lol. The conversation lead to the owner bragging about owning a home and the homeless guys being homeless and not having a life or whatever. Oh, Jersey. Anyway, onto the food. The "hot" wings were not hot or spicy at all and required hot sauce. Thank goodness the gentleman who took my order asked if I wanted some hot sauce, which the answer is always a resounding yes. The wings had too much breading on them and tasted like they were fried in days old dirty oil. The single leg was one of the most astounding food experiences I've ever had. My first bite was really bland, no flavor or seasoning at all. Second bite, BAM! A rush of salt and spices. Third bite? Even more. It's like it got saltier with every bite. How they managed to pull this off with a breading is a mystery and a conundrum if you will. This shouldn't happen with fried chicken. I definitely won't be back. I'll be trying one of the other "American" or "USA" spots next time. Thanks for reading. read more
