He went out to his vehicle and came back with a bid for $20,000 for whole house rewiring. He said that there was black gunk and burn marks in the holes where the faceplates are. He refused to give us anything in writing. We called two other electricians and BOTH said this is a scam and there is no way the whole house needs rewiring in any house this age. The electrician that did come out found a problem in ONE area that took about an hour to repair. There was no black gunk or burn marks ANYWHERE. He stated that a light fixture had a wiring issue and rewired that area for about $300. That was the bid from the other person as well. Please don't fall or this scam! If you have issues, get more than one opinion.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with how they handled that mistake. First, the good: I hired them to install a smart EV charger. They were super friendly, responsive, on-time, and the installation itself was fast and clean. Here's where things went sideways: they told me the job was complete, but the charger's controller--the part that actually makes it "smart"--was still sitting in the box. Without that piece installed, the whole point of the smart charger is lost. The technicians put me on the phone with the boss, who told me installing the rest of the components would be an additional $165. I was awfully annoyed, but I didn't really have any choice at that point. My issue is simple: I was clear from the beginning about the exact charger I needed installed. I showed the estimator the box and confirmed that their quote covered installing and integrating the smart charger. Some people might call this a bait-and-switch, but I don't think that's what happened. I think they either misunderstood the charger when quoting or were just moving too fast. An honest mistake. But the "solution" was to charge me $165 more for something that took them less than fifteen minutes.
