As a property manager, I deal with towing companies regularly, and I can confidently say that American Eagle Towing is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever encountered. I will never hire them for any property I manage. They towed my brand new work vehicle from in front of my home. I watched them load it correctly using a dolly because the emergency brake was engaged. But when I arrived at their yard, I saw them remove the dolly and drag the vehicle with the emergency brake still engaged, forcing it across the lot. This careless handling caused multiple faults in the vehicle's computer system, which now requires professional diagnostics and repairs. Their drivers are extremely unprofessional. Instead of answering simple questions, one of them chose to use profanity and disrespectful language, which I have recorded. No customer should ever be spoken to like that, especially by someone representing a business. The office staff was no better. The woman behind the counter gave me a form to fill out, and the moment I completed it, she closed the window, shut the door, refused to give her name, and stopped responding. She also refused to show a business license, which any legitimate business should have visible or available upon request. That alone raises serious concerns about how this company operates and whether they are even compliant with city requirements. Because of their negligence, unprofessional behavior, and refusal to take responsibility, I am filing a police report and will be pursuing legal action for the damages and the time they cost me. As a property manager, I strongly advise HOAs, apartment communities, commercial centers, and property owners to stay far away from this company. On New Year's Eve, my car was towed from my niece and nephew's apartment complex after we parked in their assigned spot. We were later told another resident had called claiming we were in their spot, yet when we went outside, there was no other vehicle parked there at all. This company's office is only open Monday-Friday, 8-5, yet they continue towing vehicles on nights, weekends, and holidays. When I attempted to retrieve my car the next day (New Year's Day), I was told they were "closed for the holiday," while they were still actively towing vehicles and would only release cars if paid cash only. This is illegal, regardless of holidays or claimed business hours. Tow companies are required to accept credit cards, and refusing to do so while continuing operations is unacceptable. They then refused to allow me access to my children's car seats, and their behavior escalated to the point where the police had to be called due to their threatening and unprofessional conduct. Officers confirmed the situation was improper but stated they could not force the release of the vehicle. I was ultimately forced to pay by card the next day under protest just to recover my car. Operating this way -- towing after hours, claiming to be closed, pressuring people to pay cash, and allowing fees to pile up -- is predatory and feels intentionally designed to take advantage of people. Horrible and traumatic experience! I purchased a new car yesterday and woke up at 8:55am to my brand new car being towed. I had an appointment at 9:00am to get a parking permit from my apartment manager. I show up and they have all their prices posted yet charged me $100 their highest listed rate. I wish I could leave 0 stars. This company literally wasted 2.5 hours of my time. They cancelled my tow without informing me or USAA, so I waited around that whole time no reason. You'll see in the screenshot at 2:52PM they revised my ETA to 90 mins. I called to make sure they were bringing a wheel lift tow and not a flatbed truck, to which the dispatcher said yes. I then called USAA to have them call and verify, which they also confirmed yes. At 5:01PM, I called for an updated tow because the second screenshot showed they were arriving soon, only to find out they called it around 3PM. The best part is the dispatcher lied and told me she never said they were bringing a wheel lift. Not even an apology for making someone wait in a dead car for nearly 3 hours. There's no way that I could get cash or having other source. They don't take Zelle Apple Pay any of the above, so had to go to the tow yard, but before I went to the tow yard, the guy hooked up my truck and he was trying to tow my truck away and the front wheels were locked. He went and wrapped a seatbelt around The steering wheel. The wheels are still locked. He would impress 2 Wheel Dr. and a couple other buttons on my truck finally got it unlocked but before he did that, it was jerking my brand new truck. I have a 2024 GMC AT4X when I went to the tow yard to pick up my vehicle. I paid them $363 to get my vehicle out and my truck had the check engine light on when I went up to the front office window. I told the lady my check engine light is on and it wasn't prior. She said there's no way for us to prove this and they're not gonna cover anything I said can I talk to a manager? It was 3:30 in the evening. She said there is no manager available or at the company at the moment told me to call in the following day and ask for MARK I called in the following day at 8:40 in the morning and ask for MARK the lady that answered the phone said there's no MARK that works there. I said OK can I talk to a manager? She said there's managers but no one accessible. She said that she have someone call me back his name for the impound manager was Vince. I got a call about an hour later and the guy that called me. His name is MARK. I asked him why the lady told me there's no MARK that works there. he said it doesn't matter who's calling they're not gonna cover anything and there's no way for me to prove this well there is a way for me to prove this. There's an app through GMC that gives you any notifications of the truck having issues. This showed that my check engine line came on within the timeframe of them, towing my vehicle and they denied all allegations and told me it doesn't matter who they're talking to. they're still not gonna take care of me. This is an absolute fraud, and these people are absolute jokes. The value of this company is worthless and they should be put out of business. They're not on better business super probably because they have horrible reviews and horrible service and they take no accountability and what's going on. I was at the 7-11 on Ramona and Philadelphia and if you know that parking lot it can get super packed, well fortunately for me it was relatively empty and there were all open spaces up to the handicap parking in front. If you have been towed by this company for anything other than a fire lane you should seek reimbursement. California Vehicle Code prohibits tow companies from removing cars without someone present to sign for the tow. Any legit tow company would require a patrol company or manager be present. Ca veh code 22658.a allows an apartment complex HOA etc to remove cars if certain requirements are met. This company is removing cars without a representative being present to sign for the tow. 22658.(I) (1) (A) A towing company shall not remove or commence the removal of a vehicle from private property without first obtaining the written authorization from the property owner or lessee, including an association of a common interest development, or an employee or agent thereof, who shall be present at the time of removal and verify the alleged violation, except that presence and verification is not required if the person authorizing the tow is the property owner, or the owner s agent who is not a tow operator, of a residential rental property of 15 or fewer units that does not have an onsite owner, owner s agent or employee, and the tenant has verified the violation, requested the tow from that tenant s assigned parking space, and provided a signed request or electronic mail, or has called and provides a signed request or electronic mail within 24 hours, to the property owner or owner s agent, which the owner or agent shall provide to the towing company within 48 hours of authorizing the tow. The signed request or electronic mail shall contain the name and address of the tenant, and the date and time the tenant requested the tow. A towing company shall obtain, within 48 hours of receiving the written authorization to tow, a copy of a tenant request required pursuant to this subparagraph. For the purpose of this subparagraph, a person providing the written authorization who is required to be present on the private property at the time of the tow does not have to be physically present at the specified location of where the vehicle to be removed is located on the private property. (B) The written authorization under subparagraph (A) shall include all of the following: (i) The make, model, vehicle identification number, and license plate number of the removed vehicle. Last night my husband was at work and I drove my dads car which broke down on me on pico blvd with my 2 and half year old baby in the car. The driver was supposed to arrive at 1:25 am which he didn't and a rude person called me to tell me that he will take 60 minutes to arrive and I said but my message said 1:25 am and he said no there is no message we said 60 minutes so I said I have the message and kept saying no and when I said he is supposed to be here at 1:25 he said rudely that he can't fly. Zero professionalism, zero respect to customers, very rude and inconsiderate!!! After all that when the driver arrived late he asked for my ID and member card and when I handed it to him it was upside down and all he did was separate them with his fingers as if he was looking at it and gave it back to me!!!
