Along with the other reviewer who left a negative review, we also hate to speak badly of a local business owner, however I think it's important to warn people when extremely poor workmanship is experienced. Although Martin was very polite and responsive via text, when it came to following through on cleaning up the mess that the painters left, he completely stopped responding to us. Edgar and one other person did the work. The other person drove a car that left huge oil stains in the driveway of our new home (my husband requested I mention that). I'm not sure if one or both of them were totally incompetent at painting, but they left a mess after we did a walk through and did a ton of touch-up on the walls. I made the HUGE mistake of thinking all was good and headed off to continue packing at our old house, and left them and my husband as they cleaned up. After they removed the tape, there was bleed-through all over our beautiful new baseboards! As I looked around further, there was paint slopped on some of the windows and even the kitchen cabinets! So very unprofessional! Martin hadn't mentioned until the day they were starting and I was already at the house that he wanted cash, half up front. So daily we stopped at ATMs trying to accommodate him. It's been over a month since he texted saying they would come out that week to clean up the mess and he's not responding to me any longer. American Dream Painters did a wonderful job painting the interior of my new home. We found them on Yelp and quickly scheduled Martin to come in for a quote. Due to other renovations happening at the house, painting couldn't start till a couple months after. Miguel was in charge of most of the painting and he finished everything within my very tight timeline. With limited time they were still able to get multiple coats on our trims and it came out beautifully. They even painted our old heaters to match the rest of the house. The attention to detail was superb. They use paint from Sherwin Williams which was almost odorless when they were done. Martin also worked with me with my very tight budget. *Kitchen Cabinet Painting Review* I really didn't want to write this negative review as my intent is never to hurt a locally owned business, but after hiring another painter to fix their mess, they pointed out more mistakes that American Dream Painters did when they painted our kitchen cabinets. The purpose of this review is to ensure no one else goes through the same experience. After American Dream Painters did a horrible painting job with my kitchen cabinets, I'm now having to pay way more to have my cabinets fixed than if I hired the highest bid I had out of 5 quotes of painters in the beginning. Here are some reasons of why I would not recommend this painting company: Inconsistent work hours. They sent the main painter in the morning and around early afternoon, he'd leave for lunch after informing us he'd return in 1-2 hours. I didn't care how long lunches were, but the problem was, he rarely ever came back to continue working. Example: One day, the main painter went for lunch so the paint could dry, the owner informed me midday that the 1st coat of green was completed and they'd return the next day as they need to dry. Well, before the main painter left, he never finished painting the cabinet doors placed in the garage with the first coat. I believe things like this resulted in the main painter falling behind with the job. When I asked the owner this, he brushed my concern off and said "of course we will paint those, you will see." Well, the following day, the main painter (who was honestly a really nice guy), apologized for not returning the previous day as they sent him to another house to work. Way to show a customer your priorities. What was supposed to be a 3-4 day job turned into 6. Horrible paint job. It was a huge red flag seeing the 1st coat of green paint on the cabinets and doors. There were drip marks EVERYWHERE. They did mention there was bleeding inside the back of the cabinets as the back of the cabinets isn't real wood. I was okay with that as long as it was smoothed out as much as possible, but they didn't do that. Take a look at photos (they also painted my water line and water shut-off valve inside the cabinet). Also, when painting the doors, and I wish I had pictures of these, they had them STANDING UP. Meaning, MORE PAINT DRIPS. There were also a ton of air bubbles, debris on the paint from sanding, and uneven painting. Unacceptable for a professional painting business. When doors were drilled back on the last day (day 6), the paint was still wet, and I saw areas they were still sanding for "touch up" paint. I know I'm not a professional painter, but I know better to not put a wet cabinet door back up unless it's completely dry with all the "touch ups" finished BEFORE drilling it back in place. You shouldn't be rolling paint still after placing the doors back. The doors were put back on very poorly. Again, look at the photos and you'll see that the cabinet doors don't even close correctly. They told us the last day not to close the doors for 2 days as the paint is still wet and it needs to cure - I think the other hidden reason was so I wouldn't see the doors not closing correctly. The owner came back by himself to do a walk through and payment the next day (after day 6). After discussing things with my husband and another family member (who was there with us that day), we agreed we wouldn't even trust them with trying to "fix "their mess. As expected, the company owners were not happy we refused to pay them the remaining balance of our invoice. He stated, "the best painter was not assigned our project cause he had allergies; and went as far as saying when his BEST PAINTER was at our house the first day, we "'gave him a dirty look after he sneezed so he was not comfortable working with us.'" THEIR "BEST PAINTER" WAS NOT EVEN PRESENT THE VERY FIRST DAY! He'd randomly pop up the days following to check on the other person actually doing the painting; and he never introduced himself to us or said a word to us. He only ever spoke to us when describing why the back cabinet paint was bleeding. The only TWO PEOPLE the first day was the owner and the actual person who painted the entire time (I will not give names). And let me say, we didn't hear or see anyone ever sneezing in front of us. Anyway, after $565 wasted for the deposit, we were left with a really sloppy paint job and also paint on the hardwood floor, outlet plugs and the walls. The owner asked for a chance to make it right; but him saying he didn't put his best person for the job on our project and accusing us of giving dirty looks is the worst thing he could say to a customer he wants to make happy. The proof is in the pictures. If you want to take a chance with this painting company, be my guest; but I advise you to think twice. We loved our experience with Martin and his team. From the onset, we felt like their top priority and were in constant contact throughout out project. He was able to quickly get us a bid, as we requested they paint the entire interior- walls and ceilings. The price was very reasonable and they got to work quickly. The project felt like it went by in a flash. They were done in less than 4 days. As my wife and I were working from home - due to office closures - they were able to work around us with very minor interruptions. In this season, we had no place else to go and they were able to proceed quickly and efficiently to give us back our home. The final results were top notch and we couldn't be more pleased! I'm really happy we chose these guys, and I would choose them again. Martin was super responsive and eager to make us happy customers throughout the process. His price wasn't the cheapest bid we got, but we do think we got a great value. We had some repair/replacement work done on one side of the house that had cedar shingles that were badly in need of a refresh. The results turned out great, matching the older style of the rest of the house perfectly. The paint itself also looks fantastic. There were a few things that could have gone a little more smoothly along the way, but as I mentioned before, Martin was on top of it to make things right by us throughout. I can't say enough good things about Martin and his team. A previous painter dropped the ball on a project and I sent out an emergency Yelp call to a half dozen painters on Monday night needing two bathroom cabinets done in 48 hrs. Later that night, I got a message with a quote and a commitment. His team was on site by noon on Tuesday. They were friendly, supportive and most importantly, they got the job done. It's now Wed evening and the cabinets are painted, they've cleaned up and they are done. They even touched up a few spots in another cabinet with no questions. My wife and I were on the fence about getting our house painted. We hadn't budgeted for house painting but it came up one day and we were curious what it would cost. We have a 1950's mid-mod that had a butter/cream paint color when we bought it, like several other houses in the neighborhood. I requested bids from about seven painting companies and Martín was one of the first to get back to us. Martín was on the lower end of the quotes given for our size of house, and he only had one Yelp review. Of course having a low estimate and not a lengthy Yelp history was something that we had to take into consideration. Did I mention we were on a budget? Martín offered to come to our property and take a look around to confirm the estimate and came out the next day (a Saturday). He was very polite, knowledgeable and reassuring. He said he could have the painting completed by mid-week, which was surprising because I thought it took longer to paint a house. We decided to take a chance and hired him. The work began the next day (a Sunday) with the prep. Martín's team came through and worked around the house from one end to the other pressure-spraying, caulking and sanding. He did several walk-arounds with me to ensure he understood what was to be painted, fixed, left alone, etc. Basically putting together a "to do" list as there were some things I wanted to take care of myself. That is the other thing - Martín knew we were on a budget, he had no problem with me me handling some of the repairs/prep to save money. He gave estimates on individual areas of how much it would cost for him, and how much I would save if I did it. Painting began as prep work was wrapping up the next day. The team was efficient, and moved around the house with speed and precision; there weren't a lot of areas that needed to be touched up. There were some though and it wasn't an issue. Trees, bushes and flowers around the house were virtually untouched and care was taken not to damage anything. Aside from needing some separate contract work done on the carport, the house painting was finished on time and the only cost overruns were due to materials (extra paint). Several walk-arounds were done throughout the process just to make sure everything was satisfactory. I even made a change request after painting was done and Martín gave me a very reasonable cost to redo. He also said they would come back free of charge to paint the door frame of the new front door that we hadn't installed yet!
