This is one of few places that provides exceptional service and takes care of their customers. You can tell the owner truly cares about his customer's business; it just seems like good old fashioned business. There's no tip screen, there's no attitude, it's not $50 for one meal. It's high quality, DELICIOUS, food at a great price and exceptional service. I recommend the breakfast burrito. This is my second time getting it and it's even better this time. I'm so happy to have found this delicious donut spot! I was greeted by the sweetest owner who has the best donut selection to choose from. I purchased 6 donuts, two of which shown in the picture. My husband doesn't love sweets but was obsessed with the glazed donuts and said it's definitely 100x better than Krispy Kreme. I came into this shop with my son and a friends son for a special donut date. We entered to find minimal selections, my older son wanted a breakfast burrito. The older man behind the counter said loudly to the costumer behind us that because we ordered a burrito it would hold everything else up since he had to stop to make it. My 11 yo son heard him and started to feel bad. The old guy working said it again to the next costumer so I said cancel the burrito I didn't realize it was such a big deal to make. He said oh well ok. He knew he was being a jerk but didn't care. I will NEVER come back and the donuts are terrible! Do not go here! As a businessperson and customer, I highly value customer service and experience, which the owner of American Donuts consistently provides. Over the last week, I have stopped at American Donut each morning and purchased 4-5 dozen doughnuts for prospective clients. The total bill with tip each day was `$70. I spoke with the owner who was positive, and courteous and made me feel at home while he put my order together. I was planning on using American each time I was in town to meet with clients. Unfortunately, Thursday I made the daily stop and was befuddled to find that the front of the store was not being attended by staff. I asked if there was anyone there. No response, I asked again, and "heard, I'll be out in a minute." An older gentleman who had been there each day that week was the sole person minding the store. In the interim, two more customers entered the store. He rudely stated, "Sit down, I don't know how long this will take." One customer exited the store. Sale lost. Another woman entered the store. Same instructions in a rude tone. While he was filling the gentleman's order before me he went in back and it sounded like he threw trays on the floor. Apparently, customers visiting the store was an imposition. He finally looked at me and asked "Now what do you want?" The tone was incredibly rude. My response was "Actually nothing" and I turned to walk out followed by the lady who had entered the store after me. Sales lost. In the parking lot, we exchanged comments about our experience. She was planning on buying two dozen. She was as shocked as I was about the interaction. Friday I visited a competitor, Simply Donuts, and was greeted courteously by their staff. Guess whose business won my patronage in the future? As for the gentleman, I know people have bad days. Still, as a customer service representative, it is the job to, at a very minimum keep bad temperament to yourself and act with a professional demeanor. I don't advocate termination as we all can learn to be better at interacting with people. Two suggestions: Keep the older gentleman in the back and hire a positive, professional person for the front of the store. Or don't leave him alone minding the front of the store. You will actually see an increase in sales. Provide customer service training to any hire you make. It really is unfortunate that customers had this experience. The donuts are exceptional. If I could give zero stars I would. The older man there was so rude and made fun of me. I've never experienced that. I needed the donuts for work or I would have left. It took me an unnecessary amount of time to understand when I said I wanted a Bavarian cream and the worker replied which donut? Let me say a couple things first. 1. I love supporting my local businesses. 2. This place has good donuts. Nothing special but they are good, light and airy donuts. This morning I walked in and wanted a dozen donuts. The gentleman who worked/owned the business said "can I pick out some for you" when I said no he "humpfed" and I told him I mostly wanted glazed. He asked me if I was serious. We couldn't decide what exact donuts to get and he said "I see this is going to take a while." First I am coming to you because you are a local business and you are being RUDE! He saw another customer coming in from outside and said "great I am going to get busy just my luck. You just took all my glazed." First if all he had more and he was even trying to give me donuts I didn't ask for. The customer came in (this person was lovely and not rude) and he said to her "they can't decide and bought out all my glazed" .... REALLY... He literally says nasty things under his breath but not really under his breath. I won't go back. I will go to King Soopers or pay more for Lamar and not have someone be SO rude. You are a local business. It does not pay to be rude to your customers. I am literally just stunned and like I said it's too bad but I won't patronize a business that is openly rude and nasty when I am a loyal customer. I am so excited about this discovery!! I had my doubts when viewing American Donut from the outside, but all doubts were cast aside as soon as I stepped in and smelled the deliciousness. We brought a dozen doughnuts to a group brunch and all were excited to find out that this cool little hole in the wall is in our neighborhood. We were impressed with every fresh doughnut we ate, but the true test came the day after. Check your receipt. I was over-charged for a dozen donuts and burrito. When I asked why the prices were not the same as on the board was told that he hasn't been able to change the board. Another customer came in while I was there and they were charged the price on the board. When I mentioned this he gave me a dollar back. I was actually overcharged $1.50. Then when I get to work there were only 11 donuts in the box. Not only over-charged but shorted a donut. The quality of the mixed I received was not very appealing. The cake donuts looked more like pancakes. They were very flat and looked like they were day old donuts. Called the store he told me he could not have shorted me because he remembered giving me 13 donuts. Two donuts must have jumped out of the box from the store to my car. If you go, check your receipt and the number of donuts you are receiving. read more

Just about the worst coffee I have ever had. Hands-down the best apple fritter I have ever had. And that fritter is better so infinitely much more than the coffee is bad, to put it into perspective. The purveyor of this establishment is, as other reviewers have noted, unusually awkward, but fuck, does he make a mean pastry. So tasty that it actually leaves you satisfied, so you don't end up gobbling ten more and then regretting it for the next six hours. Edit: Fuck it, this place gets my five stars, awful coffee or not. I don't eat Donuts very often and most of the time I do, I end up disappointed. So I don't know where to start when looking for a new place to try. This time I decided to simply pick a Mom and Pop Shop to at least be benefiting a small local business. But I am so glad I decided to do that bc I just found my new favorite Donut shop. As for my experience, I was very impressed with the kind, attentive, and joy filled service I got. When I first walked in the owner yelled from the back to greet me, as I'm sure he had his hands tied up back there. But this was a great first impression. Just showing he cares, even before he can make his way to me. When he made his way up front he was very joyful and helpful. He even made me try a freshly made donut before I bought my half dozen. It literally melted in my mouth. He made a funny joke about how you don't need your dentures in to eat these donuts lol. He was right. These Donuts were very good, very fluffy, and had the right balance of everything. I'm glad I decided to stop somewhere near home today, so now this can be my go to place. Not just for donuts but for breakfast burritos too. I would gladly patronize this place purely for the wonderful service and to support this family's business. But I'll also be patronizing it because the donuts are awesome. Definitely a place worth trying out! read more
