I have used them multiple times over the years and always been very impressed. They do a wonderful job pruning and caring for trees. While hiring an arborist is not cheap (want to make sure you use a licensed and insured company) definitely worth it considering the time and effort they put it in. Worth every penny! Third time we've used American Arbor Care for major tree trimming and Ash Borer prevention--and Marco, Luis, and Juan were fantastic! They removed all the dead branches in our 70' high 70 yr-old ash tree, then trimmed and shaped 4 large unruly hawthorn trees, and our sprawling 15' high shrub. They cleaned everything up, and even blew out all the leaves, saving me hours of leaf raking the next day. We'll definitely have them back to trim our messy atlanthium tree next year. read more

AAC did a masterful job with heavy pruning and clean up of 6 old growth Blaze Maples, several very large Siberian Elms and Boxelders. Also removed a problematic Hackberry and a dead Aspen. Very prompt and professional crew that work diligently getting the job done a half day quicker than I expected. Left my front, back and sideyards clear of any limbs, sticks or leaves. Will use AAC again and have already recommended to friends. read more

Update to owners' comment that I was "abusive to staff" When I called them to stop the butchery their response was "they have a long term contract". Just because their income is guaranteed is hardly a reassurance that they are professionals. It simply underscores their indifference. Their telephone staff was abusive to me! As far as the quality of their work, pictures speak for themselves. I'd like to address Sandy F. for the outrageously ignorant remark they made regarding some of the more negative reviews this company has received. While I'm so happy that you had a 5 star experience, those of us who aren't giving positive reviews aren't invalidated simply because our interactions with AAC weren't good. I had a bad experience with the president of this company based on how he had an embarrassing and childish tantrum over the phone when I met with him as well as racist and bigoted remarks made behind my back. I don't know if old age can make people act immature, but I'm more than certain Paul certainly fits the whole "manchild" image. The same goes for you since you seem to think anyone who dares give a negative review is a "whiner" and that we need to get jobs. Well, according to your logic, you too are a "Yelp whiner" and need to get a job yourself as you have left some pretty low reviews as well. Pot calling the kettle black, eh? I have a career with the DoD and I'm pretty sure I make way more than you ever will. Heck, I forget more things than you'll ever know. I realize things can happen, even with good businesses as I see from other reviews. We had two experiences with them and were left quite impressed. We had a fairly straightforward tree removal project which they handled well (fine) but we also got helpful free advice about other trees on the property we were wondering about when they did the estimate which was itemized with cost estimates included--trim this tree, that tree looks fine, that tree might use it but not essential, etc. (Great) The second experience is why I am writing this review. We had a sort of weird project that involved transporting two dead (carved) trees to another property outside of town. The first arborist (different company requested by the person collecting the trees) came wouldn't even set foot in the yard when they looked and didn't even listen to me when I tried to explain. (Sheesh) We had the people collecting the trees call American Arbor Care and WOW. They came up with a plan that preserved the full carving/tree, didn't wreck our yard and they even did the transport. All done seamlessly, on the day. It was a super weird project so we were really appreciative of their out-of-the-box thinking and their execution was flawless. We admittedly didn't do the payment or negotiating, so I can't speak to communication issues others had but the end result was terrific (including transport and reinstalling the trees/carving) and my impression was that the communication/payment etc. went smoothly from the other end as well. So don't necessarily ignore the negative reviews but if you are doubting, know that these guys are capable, professional and the work done left us very pleased and impressed. (I don't write a lot of reviews but felt compelled to here.) read more

I FEEL LIKE I JUST GOT HOSED!!! My bill was more than twice what I thought I had agreed to pay. ($790.00 vs. over $1700.00). Even then it looked unfinished. When I called in I was given lots of excuses about the "confusion" for the additional charges, but told I was still responsible for the entire amount. When I asked about the bare spots in the garden that looked unfinished I was told to go get mulch from Home Depot and spread it myself. Beware! read more

Find another company immediately. Not surprised to see their poor rating here. I had two trees planted and was told prior that my sprinkler system could be tapped in to for water. I have been watering them by hand for 30 min a piece, weekly. Total pain. After learning that it could not be done I authorized Paul and team to circulate water another way. Instead of this happening I got a call from Lita a very rude woman from the company telling me I need to pay for the PARTIAL work completed??? Apparently poor communication skills and unprofessionalism are a theme at American Arbor Care. The owner called me shortly there after and proceed to literally yell at me that he "JUST WANTS TO GET PAID"! Well, I just want the work that I authorized completed and not to be spoken to in an unprofessional manner. Is that so much to ask? Then he tells me he'll come do what he originally agreed to but would probably damage my sprinkler system. What a joke. Do yourself a favor and use another company. read more

American Arbor is five star all day long. This is an arborist that's taken care of a half acre of trees and landscaping for us in Denver such that all are healthy, avoided disease and support a seven figure asking price for what was a $300,000 home. They are not a nonprofit and you do have to pay for their services but when it increases the value of your home it makes it even easier. Yelp whiners get a job! read more

One star is being generous because I can't give them a zero my $790 estimate turned into a $1700 bill for what they claimed was a "miscommunication". They said this was my fault and they could not do anything about it. I will never use them again. read more

I first contacted American Arbor at the beginning of April. I received their voicemail, so I left am message asking for someone to call me so I could schedule an estimate. Never heard back for 2 weeks. So I called again. This time, I spoke with someone. They said they'd send someone out within a week. Never saw or heard from anyone. So I called again. They had someone out finally on April 28, 2016 and I received an estimate. Which I needed to think about. So after about a week, I called to schedule an appointment to hire them to trim the trees. I got their voicemail, left message, never heard from them. I called again the next week, I spoke with someone, told her that I left a message and never heard from anyone, she didn't even apologize but instead just said let me look into it and call you back. Which I again did not hear from anyone! I have no idea why I kept trying to get these guy over, but I did. So I called again!! I got a live person again, and she said she would talk to the owner Paul directly and see what his schedule was looking like. I still have not heard back. WTF!!!!????? Over all, I probably called at a minimum of 5 times. Its is now June 7, 2016 and I still haven't heard anything from them. Does anyone have a good arborist that they recommend? read more

You CAN'T do business with this company unless you obide their strict schedule and they come to your house for an estimate ONLY between 9 and 4:30, and ONLY Monday through Friday. The lady on the phone was pretty abrupt and adamant about this. I politely informed her that we want to start a big lanscaping project on our backyard that will probably cost a LOT of money; and we are looking for a good landscaping company. Then I asked if there's any chance someone can come for an estimate after 5pm (becasue we can't get out of work till 5), or any time during the weekend - the answer I got was very straignt forward: "NO! She even had a guts to add: "You have your hours till 5, so do we!" That is ridiculous and just so unprofessional. Don't do business withAmerican Arbor Care, they are simply not worth it. read more

Disappointing service. I first contacted American Arbor on March 31st, 2015 to ask for someone to come out to look at our trees and provide an estimate. The person that answered the phone was really friendly and said that 'Heather' will come out within a week. A week went by and no one came. I called again and was told they were running behind and that 'Heather' would be out in a few days. Heather came out on April 13th and left an estimate by the door. I called her the very next day and contracted with them to remove our dead weeping willow tree. Heather said that they would likely get the work completed by the third week of May if not sooner. Today is the 26th of May and having not heard anything at all I called them to find out what happened. After being put on hold for a few minutes I got that same story again "that they are busy and behind schedule and that they will get to my job in 2-3 weeks". SERIOUSLY? I could not believe my ears, I asked this person why no one had called to tell me that my job was being delayed and she had no answer. Clearly this company does not care. I told her that I was gone to take my business elsewhere and that I would file a complaint. She did not seem to mind at all. Wow. read more

Mine is a mixed review. I was extremely pleased with my first experience with American Arbor Care. The estimation process was painless, and I thought these guys did an amazing job pruning my large thorny locust. Fast-forward to about 4 months later...I filled out the form on their website to get an estimate for some additional work. I got an email saying that their schedule for estimating was about 2 weeks out and they asked if I needed to be home. I said that I did want to be home since I had some questions. I explained that my schedule was flexible and that I could meet the estimator any time during the week. So then they said someone would call me in the next couple weeks. Three weeks later, I hadn't heard from anyone, but I decided to give these guys another chance since I was so pleased with my earlier experience. I emailed back and said that no one had called me, but I was still interested in getting an estimate. I was assured once again that someone would call me the next day, which never happened. So, bottom line, I would give 4 stars for the actual tree services and 1 star for their communication system and estimation process. read more

These guys are true pros. They arrived promptly for both the initial consultation and then the actual work, and pruned our two hugely overgrown crabapple trees extremely thoroughly. My husband was pleased with the work they did, and I thought that their price relative to the amount of wok they did was quite fair. They also cleaned up around the work area very nicely before leaving. We'll definitely call them again next time we need tree work. read more

American Arbor Care has been caring for our mature trees in the complex for three years. They have always been available to do our tree care--even when they are swamped due to widespread tree damage in the metro area. They may not show up to do all the work at one time, but they do come to get the worst of the damage taken care of, then come back later to finish the work. Unlike many contractors, they are willing to take the time to explain to us why they are doing something in a particular way. They do really good set-up, for example putting out no parking signs in areas where they will need to place equipment the next day. They also remember to remove the signage. Our trees are healthy and well shaped. Many people comment when buying one of our units that they bought in here because they loved the trees and also the rest of the landscaping. read more

We had a 50' pine tree in our backyard that had died. American Arbor Care came, gave us an estimate (in the middle of the three estimates we received). They were much more professional so we scheduled with them. They came and very quickly and professionally cut down the tree, hauled it away and cleaned up everything. American Arbor has been taking care of our trees and lawn for almost 10 years. Paul Smith is an experienced arborist who is professional and knowledgeable. Heather and the office staff are courteous and responsive. We get a phone call the day before someone is coming out to treat the trees, trim, etc, and the staff that comes out to do the work have been very professional as well. Paul gave us a very detailed estimate, consideration of neighbors on either side of our home, knowledgeable of trees (you would think all services would be able to identify and know specific trees, but some do not). Our estimate was reasonable. Natalio and Dan did a very nice job on our trees. They were professional, competent and considerate, cleaned up all debris (we had a very thorny, rangy hawthorne, so that is saying something). No damage to any structure. I've used American Arbor over the past 4 years for tree pruning, removal of several well established Virginia creepers, one unfortunately dead wild plum and a scraggly hedge. They generally call the day before they plan to be out, which works fine for me. I find their prices reasonable, the people who have been on site are friendly, efficient and clean up after themselves. Highly recommended! read more
