I was in the area and stumbled upon University Hardware. I was looking for Ball glass jars, one can never have enough of these wonderful jars. I found different sizes and nicely priced. This store had just about everything, there are aisles and shelves galore to find what you need and items you didn't know you needed.. Staff is very friendly and ready to help. The checkout process is fast and easy. Take 1 train to Columbia University stop, 5 minute walk. If you're hungry after browsing and buying, there's Tom's Diner ( Seinfeld) nearby.

Win tells you what you need most of the time if you're not coming in without a particular reason--it's like Target--I find myself coming in for one thing and walking out with a bunch of other gadgets and gizmos. Most if not all wares here are reasonably and affordably priced. It's great that they don't limit their customers to wholesales or restaurant supply, because a cooking novice like me can buy specialized kitchen tools at a fraction of the cost the same day I need it. I've gotten a myriad of things here from tempura spoons, wine glasses, frying splatter screens, all all the random stuff you can think of. I would say that this supply store has increased my quality of life in the most subtle ways! I will continue to find excuses to come visit to see if anything is new. The staff here are helpful. Most of them don't have the most outwardly friendly vibe but they will help you (kind of like when you ask your sibling to do something for you and while they'll give you some resistance, they'll still do it out of care). Regardless, solid place. Definitely stop by if you don't care about the more high-end, fancy kitchenware at those more high-tier homeware stores...I'm looking at you Crate and Barrel. He thoroughly explained the process to me and took me into the shop area so i could sample the different foams they carry. He then quoted me a fair and reasonable price. The service was very efficient and expedient. The gentleman who made the new cushion put a lot of effort into making sure I was pleased with the end product. They were all extremely accommodating, and I am happy to report this new cushion made a world of difference in the comfort level of our very worn favorite chair. For those who know, a Chinese cleaver is not a bone cleaver, it is used like a Chefs knife and cannot break through bone. The cleaver was heavily damaged and I was looking for a place to help me repair and sharpen the blade. Indulge Kitchen Supplies was one of the only places that responded and I am glad they did. The store itself is on a main street with a fair amount of street parking and the store is super cute. The store sells a variety of kitchen gear from different knives, cutlery, utensils, etc. Most of the curated items are modern and high quality such as Durelex glass and Global Knives. While their prices are a little higher than online prices, they have quality stuff and I recommend buying from them. Their knife sharpening and repair was a life saver for me. The Chinese Cleaver is a large knife and they were able to get it done for me in less than a day and it was fully repaired. Looking at the photos you can see that they took out all the dings on the knife and sharpened it back to the point where I could use it again. I highly recommend this service and would readily come back when I need any knife repair or sharpening.
