Toured this place in 2025 and was somewhat disturbed by the spray foam insulation ceilings, but…read moredecided to sign on anyway as the rest of the venue was so lovely. We were assured in writing that the ceilings would be taken care of by the day of my wedding. I asked for updates all year and was told every time "they're not done yet, but don't worry, it will get done by your wedding day," Spoiler: that did not happen Ceilings aside, there were good and bad things about this experience. On the day of the rehearsal, my foot fell through a rotten plank of wood and they immediately remedied that which was amazing. Our advisor was very kind and helpful throughout the experience and answered our endless questions. The day of the wedding, however, our advisor was not scheduled to be working, so he was not there and the only staff who were there had not met us before and, due to a language barrier, had a very tough time communicating our needs. Several things went wrong the day-of like no electricity in the ceremony space, tables and chairs incorrectly laid out (several guests had nowhere to sit), and those ceilings were still unfinished (also wasps live in the insulation and attacked one of my bridesmaids). We brought up these concerns to our advisor and never received a response. Like, for weeks. We followed up. Nothing. Then, we get a check in the mail which IMO was not for enough money, but still no communication. It's like the customer service relationship immediately ends on the day of the wedding. Just bizarre. If they ever fix these ceilings, I'd say book it and ensure that your advisor will be working the day of your wedding.

I don't think it's acceptable to not have actual ceilings and call yourself a wedding venue. I don't know why they are dragging their feet on finishing the ceilings, but it's a real drawback and I'd be willing to bet it's the reason some people don't sign on with them (myself, for one).

If you are looking for a wedding coordinator that manages your contracts with vendors efficiently…read moreand professionally, Amberly and Blue Boots is not the right choice for you. I hired Amberly and Blue Boots to be my wedding coordinator. Wedding coordinators manage, negotiate, and handle all vendors on your behalf which was explicitly stated in her contact. During the planning phase of my wedding, Amberly interviewed a DJ that I thought would be a good fit for our event and after several conversations Amberly had with this DJ, she agreed he would be a good choice. Unbeknownst to me, she went ahead and signed a contract with this DJ while we were still looking at other DJ's. Ultimately, we chose a different DJ and Amberly never went back and communicated to the original DJ that we were not going to use him. When I emailed Amberly to confirm that we chose another DJ, she had 15 days to cancel the original contact with no penalty, but she failed to follow up with the DJ and cancel the contract she signed on our behalf. He contacted her just before our event to make arrangements to DJ and that is when she informed him that he would not be our DJ. Because he had a signed contract from her, he showed up at our wedding ready to DJ. Two weeks after our wedding, this DJ sued Amberly for breach of contract because he had a signed contract from her. Amberly did not tell me he showed up on our wedding day and she did not tell me he sued her until after the fact. Subsequently, her lawyer advised the DJ to sue me since I had signed a contract with Amberly. Amberly admitted to my husband and I that she should have never signed the contract with the DJ. As soon as the DJ dropped the lawsuit against her and sued us, Amberly refused to speak with us further and even stated that if we wanted to talk to her lawyer, we would have to pay for it! This entire incident has caused us pain and clouded the memory of our wedding day. If you choose to have someone that will manage your contacts, follow through, be honest and represent you with integrity, then Amberly and Blue Boots is not your ideal choice.

We looked at several other venues and chose Bentwood because of the serene beauty of the grounds. The reception area has beautiful wood tables and a stage with a lit dance floor. Stage area set up for DJ or Band with lights strung throughout. There is a wonderful walkway down to a pond area with an alter. There are 4 rooms that come with the weekend package. 1 with bunkbeds, 3 with queen size beds. The grooms area was set up with a pool table, dart board and refrigerator to keep the boys occupied while the girls got ready in a beautiful bridal room. Other venues we looked at gave you a couple of hours before and after the event to set up, have the ceremony and then clean up. We liked the fact that with the weekend package we could set up on friday, enjoy saturday and clean up Sunday. They have several packages to cover almost any need. We have been to several weddings this year and I have to say that Bentwood was by far the best venue.

I knew planning a destination wedding in Cancun would be an undertaking, but I had no idea how…read moredifficult and time consuming it would be just getting information from and negotiating with the resorts directly. When I was introduced to Lauré I was frustrated and overwhelmed. I had already decided on a resort I loved and signed a contract, but room block negotiations were making my head spin. Lauré quickly put my mind at ease - she knew exactly what she was doing. She took over the communications with the resort, helped us determine the appropriate size room block, and managed the room block throughout the process. Her insight was invaluable. I would have made so many missteps had it not been for her guidance - all the way down to how to word my invitations and website to get the best response from guests. Speaking of which, we were optimistically ball-parking around 80-90 guests and ended up with over 100, which I truly believe is a testament to how effectively Lauré communicated with everyone. Once guests sent an initial inquiry to Lauré, she followed up with them like clockwork and I heard from multiple friends how responsive she was and how straightforward and easy she made the booking process. Without a doubt, we would not have had anywhere near that headcount had we left it up to guests to book directly through the resort. I cannot emphasize enough how necessary Lauré's services are if you're planning a trip with a large group and would also like to maintain your sanity. Future brides especially, you will have plenty of things to worry about while planning your wedding, do not let this be one of them.
