I only see Valarie so she can put "hands on me" like in the spiritual kind of way, she puts her holy hands on my hair and cures it if it's ratchetness. I'm sure she wishes my hair good heath and beauty, and happiness. My hair always turns out amazing, beautiful etc, I get all the compliments and I don't have to do a thing other than sit and be pampered. Since meeting her in May of 2018 I have only had her work on my hair. No late night drunk, hair box dying sessions, I have given up my terrible ways. She worked on my hair when it was long, we got ballsy and chopped it off and now it's growing back like a weed. The hair coloring is always on point she has an amazing balayage and color melt technique. She is also friendly and personable and makes for good conversation. I want to also add that the new location is at 485 Broadway and has ample parking. I definitely suggest you ask for Valarie but I hear great things about all the staff! Check them out, it will be HEAVENLY!!!

I've gone dark to light and light to dark, and tossed bangs in the mix, and no matter what we do with my hair, it always comes out looking great. If for whatever reason I don't know what I want to do, but I want some change she is great at suggesting things that would look great, and what I appreciate the most, is she is her on critic, if she doesn't like how it came out or if something is off she will admit before you even notice and she already has a plan in place to fix it. I have long hair but not mermaid long hair, and even thru bleaching and highlights I manage to keep my length, she takes care of my hair. If I want to go light she'll make my hair light, but in phases so it doesn't dry out or damage to much. Most places don't do that or care enough to think about that. Great little hole in the wall shop!

I made an appointment for a blow out while I was in town. Overall my hair came out okay. However,…read morethe experience wasn't what I typically expect from a blow out. A round brush was not used at any point my hair was washed and blow dried using hands, and a paddle brush was only used for my curtain bangs. A flat iron was later used to curl my hair. While it looked fine, a true blow out usually gives a very different feel and finish, so I was a little bummed, especially for the $60 price. This was my first time having a blow out done this way, I wasn't sure if this is standard here or just a difference in technique. For future lesson learned on my part, I'll be sure to confirm the styling method beforehand. In addition, the salon's cleanliness was disappointing. My appointment was early in the morning around 9:00 a.m. there were dead flies on the window ledge and hair left behind in the space. I would have expected the salon to be thoroughly cleaned either at closing or before opening. I'm mentioning this in hopes the owner can address it and remind staff how important it is to maintain a clean environment. We all clean our homes everyday right.

I go to Lizette, because she is the first person I have ever gone to who does exactly what I ask. If I don't want too much cut off, she leaves it alone. Don't freak out, this isn't one of those places that strictly serves girlie girls and teens-young adults. This salon has a wide variety of customers. Unfortunately, professionalism seems…read moreto be lacking, as the owner and staff frequently gossip about their clients once they leave. Communication is also frustrating-calls are rarely answered, and messages often go unanswered, leaving customers feeling ignored. On top of that, the prices are quite high for the area, making the service feel overrated than worth the cost. Trendsetters is NOT the cream of the crop for sure! If you're looking for a salon that prioritizes respect and responsiveness, this might not be the best choice. I'm really surprised that they have been in business this long with their subpar service and staff.

I was very specific in my search--I needed someone highly skilled in working with natural dark hair and bleaching. My local salon experiences had left me unhappy with the results, so I was determined to find someone who truly understood how to work with my hair.
