Ulta Beauty is located at the corner of Dogwood and Danenberg Roads in The Plaza at Imperial Valley. There is also a Best Buy and Bed, Bath & Beyond in this plaza which are easier to spot. It's on the side between Buffalo Wild Wings and Olive Garden. This is my second time here and I'm still amazed at all the beauty products. I do like the face creams and moisturizers-especially here where the humidity can be in the single digits! But I no longer need department store products-I've used them for years and they aren't that much different. I looked around for a few minutes but get a bit overwhelmed by all the stuff. I was able to find someone to ask right away and find what I needed quick. I paid and got out so much faster than I anticipated. I definitely recommend this Ulta Beauty. Their Ulta Beauty products are very good, too. I've had really good service here, as well. read more

UPDATED 3/2020* just found out Julianne is no longer at ulta. She's at Shanti Nails in El Centro on ocotillo drive in case anyone is looking for her. If you want your eyebrows to look you need to visit Julianne at the benefit brow bar. She is very nice, professional and always consistent with my brows. I won't let anyone else touch them. I wish Ulta would have more sales associates around her station area though because customers will come and ask her questions about products on the sales floor (not benefit products) while she is in the middle of working brow magic. If there were more sales people around her area the customers wouldn't have to interrupt her. That's my only real complaint. read more

I have been a long time salon customer and I can honestly say that all the stylists that have either cut or colored my hair over the years have always taken really good care of my hair. My only complaint about the salon is that over the last year, every time I'm having my hair done my stylist is expected to stop working on my hair to answer questions from customers asking about either hair services or about products. My hair appointment takes a lot longer because of the interruptions. A quick cut and blow out used to be about an hour now it's takes over two hours depending on all the interruptions. Now my hair appointments are feeling uncomfortable for me with all the interruptions.; especially when I'm getting my hair colored. Definitely feel like I'm not important or a priority. I get that the managers are pushing stylist to provide good customer service but stylist should focus on their clients during services. Today I was trying to get my ticket and set up my next appointment but was pushed aside because a couple of customers just ask questions. I was due for a cut and balayage, but had minimal luck finding a salon open on Monday with excellent reviews. On a whim I walked into Ulta as a last ditch effort to find anyone who could help. Enter Valerie, I'm sure lights from heaven opened up over her head and I heard trumpets from angels playing. Not only did she take me in immediately, she was kind and knowledgeable. She has 13 years of experience and is the manager of the salon section of Ulta, I've never won the lottery but I'm sure meeting her today was just about the same feeling. Anyways she worked quickly, efficiently and delivered so much more than I imagined. Went in yesterday for a haircut. I asked for an A line bob. I did ask her to keep the length in the front. She was awful. She barely washed my hair. It's not the cut I asked for. Maybe she needs to take classes on hairstyles. I paid and gave her a tip. Now I have to go to San Diego to pay for another haircut. I also asked about an appointment for highlights after looking she said they were booked up till next week. I didn't not see a line of people waiting to get a haircut and they were not busy when I was there. Waist of my time and money. read more

My appointment was set around March 18th, and I was very excited to go get my hair dyed. I had already dyed it on my own, it was orange blondish. I wasn't good at dying it myself. It was also my first time going for an appointment there. Anyway, when the day came I simply asked for a platinum blonde color. The hair stylist then asked me to shower her an example. I then showed her a picture of what I wanted sorta like an ombré platinum blonde and with no bleaching on my roots. After bleaching more of my orange hair that's been dyed before, it took more than 3 hours. I have short hair but so much thick hair. So I completely understand why it took long. After hours of waiting and washing my hair. She then styled my hair, basic curls and she also pushed the mirror up so I wouldn't see myself. I was so excited because I really had trusted her with dying it the color I wanted so badly. Unfortunately I became so disappointed with the results. I was unhappy. She gave me an ashy blonde. Which look close to a very light brown. She kept complimenting me on how good it looked. But I really hated it. She charged me a full $250. Just to get a horrible color that I did not ask for. She basically did it her own way. I even told her "this is not the blonde I wanted.." and she replied "after a few washes it'll get blonde." It did not lmao. I don't think I'll go back there, ever. I went to this ulta for the 1st time my niece gave me a gift card so i went to check it out and bought some shampoo , i see they had a salon so i when i got home i yelped it and read the reviews they werent alot of reviews to go off of but I decided to take a chance as i needed my hair done and did not know any salons or stylist in the area , its scarey when u are looking for a new person to do ur hair that u dont know or by reccomendation cus ive had botched jobs done before while out of town so thats why i say took a chance...anyway I made an appt and ended up with stephanie she is a sweet girl an a awesome stylist and very professional she gave me a consultation anf listen to what i asked she did such a great job taking care of me and my requests for my hair i am happy with her work !! their is also a stylist named jena There that was helpful and she is hilarious her personality rocks she helped stephanie as she was busy doing my hair jena got me coffee I appreciated that . The store has alot of products different sales and i got 20% off my hair service as it was my first time ever at any ulta that was a reallly nice perk a girl on the floor helped me get buy skincare products also i didnt get her name to thank her in this review for finding me a product that was not on the shelf . When i got home my husband likes my hair also so kudos to stephanie for her hard work she had to answer phones and make appts and even take another client all while she was working on me overall i was there a lil longer than I expected but its not her fault she was juggling alot ! In an effort to help my daughter be a little more independent and work on her communication skills, I dropped her off at Ulta so she could purchase nail glue with her own money. While she was looking for it, a worker approached her and asked if she needed assistance. My daughter informed her she was looking for nail glue. The worker was very knowledgeable and informed my daughter they no longer carried the nail glue she was looking for but offered press on nails as a solution/ suggestion. The worker showed her available sets and explained how to use the product. My daughter fell in love with press ons and will be visiting Ulta frequently to change sets. My daughter had a great experience and I am glad workers respected and valued her business. Sometimes the way you make people feel will keep them coming back... and I know we will keep shopping at this location. Superb service. read more

Don't bother making an appointment here for anything. Today has been the third time I've made an appointment (the first two were for eyebrows and the one today was for a haircut). All three times either the stylist wasn't actually there or the stylist accepted a walk in seconds before I checked in and I had to wait about 45 minutes more. When I did get my eyebrows done the girl left one of my eyebrows noticeably thinner than the other one. read more

I've been to this location a few times, and was never impressed with the level of service I received(on par with other Ultas throughout California I've been to). But I usually know exactly what I'm going in for and don't ever really need help anyway. However, I went recently to purchase a brow product and the woman let me know a great deal that was going on that saved me tons of money! Also, I've been color matched at other MAC locations and always end up looking like an Oompa Loompa! (Too orange), but the girl at the MAC counter matched me perfectly immediately! I've never had a better matching foundation and I was very impressed! Only suggestion I would have is for the staff to not chit chat so much with one another when there is a long line of people or people walking around cluelessly. People may be intimidated to interrupt employees during their "chat" sessions, and although I'm aware that not all employees can use the register, not all customers are aware of that and may think that nobody is willing to ring them up in line. read more

Sunday, May 20 4:45 PM - I went to Ulta to find a specific hair product, but I had some questions. I could not find anyone in the store to help me. I could hear a number of people in the back behind the empty salon talking and laughing. But nobody was on the floor to help customers. There were a number of customers in the store. It looked like others were looking for help too. My husband finally saw an employee walk in for his shift and grabbed him to help. He was very helpful. Then when we went to the check out counter, there was nobody there to check out with. Finally, we saw someone come out from that back room and come up to help us with check out. I think I will order my things online instead. I had gone there rather than order online because I had some questions. But since it is so difficult to get assistance, I may as well order online. read more

I am just here for the winter so I really didn't know where to go for a haircut. I can tell you that for $40 I expected much more. The girl who cut my hair obviously didn't have a lot of experience. (Ulta stylists are supposedly specially trained) I told her exactly how many inches I wanted off and it took her three tries. Long story short, I ended up with two sides looking different. I showed her the problem and she couldn't figure out what was wrong. She called over another stylist who said the layers were longer on one side and so she finished up my cut and bangs. Now I have choppy layers on one side. I was there way too long and came out with a less than mediocre haircut. Not pleased. Will find another place to go. read more

They go out of their way to help you find what you were looking for and if you aren't satisfied for whatever reason, they will do an exchange without a hassle. Ulta El Centro- VERY poor customer service, even the manager. Cant find an associate for help- when you do, you are rushed as is if they have more important things to be doing- like talking to another reps. The store is bare, and a mess -they never have products I would like to purchase during the visit--- unless sometimes you get lucky and an associate offers "Oh ya let me check in the drawer we have more over here" WOW the other associate straight up told me "no whats there is there." read more

This has to be the worst Ulta I have ever been too!! They're always running low on items, even simple things like tissues. I had swatched a few items on my hand and after seeing the tissue boxes empty I asked an employee if they had any she answered NO, that they have been out for days and ULta doesn't send them any. This El Centro Ulta has the worst customer service in history especially the seasonal workers working these last two months ( November & December). & NO one ever is available to help or greets when you walk in. I was a bit disappointed because I made an appointment. The manager is the one who helped me with the appointment (he was very nice and helpful). I needed a blowout and make up done so he set up my hair appointment at their salon and my make up appointment at their Mac. The day of my appointment I go and the hair stylist was very nice but she took a very long time to do just curls nothing fancy, and I mentioned to her I have another appointment at their Mac. She goes look for someone at their Mac and comes back and tells me there are no appointments in their schedule under my name. Obviously I started to worry, so another hair stylist was doing another ladies hair and said, "I can do her makeup". So another stylist took over the ladies hair, and started doing my makeup. I was still under the impression of purchasing 50 dollars worth of Mac makeup for my appointment and that was it. At the end I was charged 60 dollars for "formal makeup", and my additional 50 dollars worth of Mac makeup. Honestly, only reason why I did not complain right there and then was because I was such in a hurry and running late. Never again will I come. It was very unorganized. I came in with the impression of one thing and came out the total opposite. And my curls fell within the first two hours. My hair is pretty thick and heavy but I've had curls last two days! read more

I went here to get gel nails done. She did the usual routine and tried soaking the nails then using an emery board to try to get the color off. They don't have an electric file. She filed and pried off the nails tell my fingernails were sore. Then when she painted them and the polish didn't cure right and the polish ran all over my fingers. Something was wrong with the polish I guess .They didn't charge me for the service, but it was stressful and upsetting. read more
