Meant to write this a long time ago but time got away from me. Stayed here for a weekend in July,…read morewith a last minute booking. All the hotels in the area were $250+ a night, but I saw this one for around $120 a night. Booked up the reservations and honestly I had low expectations for such a low price on a really busy weekend of the year. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and had a nice big dresser with a tv and a window A/C. We were on the ground floor right next to the parking lot, so unloading our car was a breeze. One thing we did have to do was go outside and put a towel on top of the A/C unit because the ones from floors above were dripping water and making an incessant noise. Not a big deal was an easy solution just thought I'd mention it. I love the little rubber duck they left on the bathroom sink to say hi. The bed was pretty comfy and warm and the doors had passcodes that you set yourself instead of key cards. Great because I always lose them LOL. The restaurant that is part of the hotel was also really great. We did have one dish that we did not like and they took it back and brought us something else free of charge. The rest of the food was fantastic and the staff was extremely nice. On the weekends, they have movie nights outside and set up cornhole games. Seems like a popular local hangout because every spot in the lot was taken. The place is situated on a sleepy state road with only the occasional passing car at nighttime. There are no bright street lamps or big trucks to wake you up. I slept good. On another note, everyone was nice to my service dog and brought her water. There is lots of grass areas to take your dog to the bathroom. They have bins right outside your door which is perfect for discarding the doggy bags. The only negative thing is that I think there may have been a little crack under the door or maybe by the AC that needed to be patched because every night we had bugs flying around into our room. I'm not squeamish and I live in the woods so it didn't really bother me too much. I did have a huge crane fly come in somehow and that one scared me a little bit lol (I did finally get him out though). The next day a firefly got in and I saw him flying around the room with his abdomen aglow. I escorted the little fellow back outside. Overall it's a really nice, laid back place with good food, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and clean amenities.

I'll definitely stay with them again when visiting that area of Vermont.

I'm excited to think of the potential it has for hikers (near the Appalachian Trails, and Skiers since it's near Killington and Pico or snowmobilers (the parking lot is fairly big!) And at night there is so little light pollution you can see all the stars. Very pretty! The room we stayed in (Forest Glen) is cozy and pretty basic, but it did its job well. The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

Before booking, it's important to understand what Liberty Hill Farm actually is. You're staying in…read moresomeone's home -- not a traditional inn, lodge, or working farm stay with structured activities. It's a large, old farmhouse with a few rooms converted into guest rooms. That setup can be charming to some, but surprising to others. Let's start with the "experiences" listed on the website. Things like fly fishing, hiking, or barn tours technically exist, but only if you take the initiative to do them yourself. There's no real guidance, schedule, or facilitation. If you're imagining a hands-on farm experience or curated activities, you'll likely be disappointed. Beth, who runs the property, is clearly the heartbeat of the place -- but she's not a natural in hospitality. While it's understandable that hosting guests in your personal home can be draining, she comes across as short, unwelcoming, and at times, downright rude. For example, she called the day of our arrival to push check-in an hour later, and when we arrived right on time, she rushed us upstairs with a quick "OK, there you go!" No tour, no orientation, no warmth. Later, when we went to the kitchen (hoping to learn more about the farm or get a lay of the land), she looked up and said, "You have questions?" I smiled and said, "So many!" -- expecting maybe a bit of that classic Vermont charm and a quick rundown of things to do. Instead, she said, "Save your questions for dinner please, I'm busy." It was such an awkward, deflating exchange that we actually considered leaving. To her credit, she does cook meals and gathers everyone around the table, which could be a lovely touch in the right hands. But the experience feels centered more around her routine than around guests enjoying farm life. Bottom line: If you're looking for a genuine farm stay -- where you can milk cows, explore the property, and feel part of the rhythm of the land -- this isn't that. If you simply want to sleep in a farmhouse, walk around quietly, and hope not to get scolded, it might suit you fine. I really wanted to love Liberty Hill Farm. The setting is beautiful, the concept is wholesome, but the execution is missing the heart and hospitality that make this kind of stay special.
