Brilliant idea: hit dinner and a movie with one shot and not have to spend 4-5 hours between the two. I went with a friend to a fork and screen viewing of Silver Lining Playbook. Got our tickets online and picked them up at the theater and missed the line. We got there early and were able to put in our drink/food orders before the movie started which was nice. The food was good and the chairs were comfortable. The gripe I have is how far the seats are from the table. It made it difficult to eat. This is my favorite AMC Studio theater in the johnson county area. 1) I love that they have the "Fork & Screen" option. The Fork and Screen is a family-friendly movie theatre-restaurant that features upgraded seats, an option-packed menu, a full cocktail bar and seat-side service at the push of a button. This is perfect for a date night, because you combine dinner and a movie all in one sitting. 2) The parking lot is accommodating, whereas AMC 20 falls short on that and you usually have park a mile away when you see an evening showing, especially on the weekend. 3) I know we're not in Texas, but bigger is better: this theater is the biggest AMC theater in Johnson county. Why does that matter? More show times, more variety, less likely your show will be sold out, etc. 4) The concession stand is automated and you don't have to wait in any lines anymore (the future is here, people!), which is a nice benefit to have, especially in a movie theater. 5) Although I'm not a huge fan, they do have 3D capabilities for movies and Imax theaters, which are neat to try out sparingly and dependent upon the movie. 6) You can order your tickets at the kiosk if the ticket lines are too long (TIP). read more

When the blockbusters come out you have more options than you were even aware of on how you want to see it. 2D, 3D, Fork and Screen, Cinema Suites, standard theatre, IMAX are all available options. If you want to see movies in the best format possible ALWAYS go with Cinema Suites! You must be 21 years old, which is perfect so you can avoid screaming/loud kids. When you reserve your tickets online you can also reserve what seat you want which is so nice. You still want to get there early so you can melt into your giant recliner with powered foot rest, get a cocktail, and order your food. You can get a beer and I don't mean in no paper cup I'm talking about a glass of beer. Need another drink once the movie starts? Just push the button and the waitstaff will return to meet your request. Food is pretty good, but expensive for what you get. Took my family to see The Avengers at the Fork and Screen (similar to Cinema Suites, but lesser chairs and kids are allowed) and for $6.99 my girls got 3 mini chicken strips, bag of apples, and some fries. Pretty steep for not much food! The place is very clean and they also have a big bar just outside the Fork and Screen/Cinema Suites wing. Nice place to have a drink before/after the movie. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars are the prices. Sometimes when we go see family movies we choose the Cinemark Merriam. During the day the ticket prices are half of AMC's. I don't always need drinks and $12 burgers when I go see a movie. read more

This theater is a bit far from us, but we'll travel there occasionally for the Fork & Knife Screens. These theaters are amazing, although they are a bit pricy with a premium charge. The seats recline and are very comfortable. You have a little table and can order food and drink items right from your seat. As an added bonus, the popcorn and sodas are free refills... What does it cost you might ask? It's not cheap. For my husband and I, we spend between $60-70 when we go. That being said, its about what we'd normally pay if we went to dinner and a movie, after adding in popcorn and drinks. Not something to do all the time, but something nice for an occasional date night. Based only on the drive, I probably wouldn't travel to this theater if they didn't offer the Fork & Knife Screen or if they were to introduce this at an AMC closer to us. As long as this is a unique offering in the area though, we'll be back every couple months or so. read more

Went back to the movies for the first time since before the pandemic and their machines double charged me and when I went to customer services to get my money back, they said "it is past show time so we cannot do anything now." The chairs in the theatre we were in were also extremely wobbly and uncomfortable and we watched previews for a whole hour before the movie even started. There are positives and negatives to this location. On the good side, it has a ton of screens, so you're likely to (1) find the movie you'd like to see and (2) see it around the time you're wanting. Another positive is the variety of amenities offered. The cafeteria-style concession area is cool and efficient. No more waiting in line for a year for popcorn! I also like the upscale amenities offered, like coffee, juices and pastries. Another positive is the option of Cinema Suites (I've never done Forks & Screens so I can't review those). Cinema Suites offers a smaller crowd, assigned seating, fully-reclining leather armchairs, and waitstaff service. Additionally, it's 21 & over, so you avoid the loud kids on the weekend nights. On the bad side, because the theater is so large, it's really, super crowded. You'll find the expected throngs of boisterous and obnoxious teenagers (and adults) to intrude on your experience. I often prefer smaller theaters for this reason alone. Additionally, there are some drawbacks to the Cinema Suites. We were unable to see the bottom sixth of the screen, so we had to crane our necks to read subtitles. There is a partition/wall thing between the rows that juts up too high. It doesn't seem like that big a deal, but it was incredibly obtrusive and just got right into my head. I'm a very tall woman (5'9"), so if it was obnoxious for me, it'd be unacceptable for an average height woman. And, if you're excited about ordering a beer with your movie, prepare yourself for ballpark prices. We paid $8 each for our beers (!). read more

Went to an 8:15 Saturday evening show. Luckily we purchased our tickets ahead of time. The parking lot was an absolute mess, but the snow banks still hadn't melted. Only one to blame for that is mother nature. We parked in the back lot & walked around to the front. Rear exits are nice, but why haven't theaters got smart & made entrances back there too??? :P We did the fork & screen & it was fabulous. Little lighted bar in front with lots of leg room. This location seems larger than most so the concession stand sometimes has a wait at the cashiers. I recently sat in a theater without reclining seats... they were still nice. I love seeing movies in theatre, and when there's something out that I want to see I'll pay whatever it is. I'll even pay a premium to support new Indie films or a Bollywood movie. Although this theatre is certainly old in age it has been updated and is always clean. I've seen countless films here, but what really made me want to write this review is that this was one of the only theatres in Kansas City to play Isle of Dogs with reasonable times while also giving a student discount. I have been to the fork & screen twice in the last 3 weeks and both times we have had disappointing service. The movie has been good, seating has been good but the food & drink service has not been good. One time we ordered before the movie (2 drinks & a popcorn) and then 20-30 minutes into the movie we had to push the button to find out what was going on. The 2nd server Tom our order & brought it within 10 minutes. The drinks were very watered down. The other time I went with friends and one of the ladies in the group not only had the wrong drink & food order brought, but then had to hit the button AGAIN to check on the order. Both times there was no apology or any kind of admittance of a mistake. One time I can understand might be a mistake, but two times in a row is a pattern. read more

Theatre itself: 4 stars. It's a movie theatre, and I like that they have the Coke machines with many different varieties. You can also add your own butter to the popcorn. *One thing I've seen online but have never tried myself: they have special showings for children with special needs. They leave the lights partially dimmed and children are encouraged to move around and be noisy. I think this is an AWESOME feature, especially for little ones who may struggle to stay seated for 90 minutes.* Fork and Screen: 2 stars. We tried this experience for our anniversary in September and I was not a fan. The food was all very meh. I did not like eating in the dark, or trying to talk to the waiter during the movie. If you want popcorn you can only order the giant bucket size. Refills are infrequent. Don't bother with the alcoholic drinks - I tried some sort of blue lemonade which tasted like rubbing alcohol. I love you AMC Studio 30, because of your pretzel breadsticks. I would walk across 10 miles of hot coals just to have one of your breadsticks. I love the Fork & Screen as well as the Cinema Suites, and even if those are full Studio has the absolute best concession stand. I mean, you can hardly call it a concession stand with everything it offers--ice cream, a full coffee bar, self serve sodas with flavor shots, I could go on forever. Oh and the movie part...since there are 30 screens they usually have the movie you want to see. I had wanted to see a certain movie for awhile but by the time I got around to it none of the theaters had it--except for AMC Studio 30. read more

I LOVE THE CINEMA SUITE!!! Nice comfortable leather recliner that you can adjust with a waiter/waitress to bring you your food. Funny how they wear all black so that they don't distract you during the movie! In addition they also have a swivel table in case you want to eat something while watching your movie. Its definitely a brilliant idea that other theaters should try out. There is even a bar with TVs outside of the theater so you could have a place to hang out before your movie. The only problem I have is the food. Its pretty expensive considering the fact that its really that great. Other than that overall the Cinema Suites are well worth it!!! read more

This has always been a good theater. We have gone here for special showings and just a regular movie night. The tickets are a little more expensive than Cinemark or Alamo so we try to hit the early shows for $7. The large drinks are huge and refillable, the hot dogs and pretzels are good. The fork and screen is okay. The food is on par with Chili's nothing special. The seats are better in the fork and screen and you can get adult beverages in there. The screens are all digital which I love. They have IMAX theaters, 3D and normal screens so you can choose how you want to watch you movie. The seats in the regular theaters are cushy and lean back so you can relax and watch the film. There is plenty of leg room and the theaters are clean. If you have to go to customer service which I have a couple times for the machines not printing the tickets right, they are friendly and fast and solve your issue. read more

Probably one of the worst theater experiences I've had, the showing I was going to started at 9:45pm and then we had to sit though half and hour of previews and finally the movie started, just for us to find out that it was the WRONG MOVIE playing, and we had to sit through like 15 mins for them to finally fix it and start the right movie which was endgame, and also you shouldn't have to sit though half and hour of previews if the movie you're watching is 3 hours long, like it's bad enough we are going to leave around midnight now we have to sit thought an extra 30 mins?! read more

By far my favorite movie theater, as well as my favorite AMC. I will often go to the location on Ward pkwy if I'm seeing a movie on a whim because it is closer to home. But I always make sure to drive all the way out to this location for my big movie events, most recently Avengers Endgame. The Dolby experience is something everyone must try, I absolutely love it. It's a fairly easy to navigate and fast paced concession area here as well, especially in comparison to places like Cinemark. They even have the Dine and film option where it's literally like watching a big screen movie while being served a meal. Cinema Suites is the way to go! Cushy recliners, initimate theater and service at the press of a button. Plus I love you are not squished in by a stranger sitting next to you. If you want prime seats reserve a few days early. With limited seating they do fill up fast. Although tickets are a little more than regular theater you do get free water (with the option to order dinner and dessert) IN A REAL CUP WITH ICE which if you bought a bottle of water for 5 bucks in the concession it totally makes up for the price. The food in the Cinema Suites could be better but the Parm Fries are pretty tasty. Best deal is to hit up Cinema Suites for a matinee if your schedule allows. Seriously once you see a movie in C.S. you will never go back to the old fashioned unreserved regular seats! read more

The movie going experience certainly has changed over the last several years. Last summer I saw 34 movies over a 3 month span using MoviePass so I was able to sample several different theaters in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and CA. I'd say overall quality and value is AMC. B&B is good too if they just didn't talk about their history so much. Now that I'm part of their A-list I'm looking forward to meeting or exceeding 34 movies in the next 3 months. read more

Well, what's not to like here. This is the fanciest, best decorated, best well-stocked in snacks, and has the most expensive ticket prices in the Joco area. They have the Fork and Screen of course and you can partake in some lush like beverages as you watch the flick. The cinema suites are the best you can get, and we try to get them when we can. Of course, tickets are pricey, but it's well worth it. First, you get to pick your own seats, which by the way are leather recliners, and then you get a server if you need one. You can even be as lazy as me and have a server bring you candy, because you can order it off the menu. Anyway, bottom line is, if you want a pleasurable movie experience this theatre caters to everyone's tastes. And they really spent a lot of time making it nice inside, so I'm willing to shell out those not-so-hard-earned bucks of mine and sit my butt in a recliner. read more

The largest theater in town with the most options. My favorite are the Fork and Screen and Dine-In Theaters. It is always a treat to have a nice meal and enjoy a movie. In our recent visit, we went to the Dine-In Theater, which is different from the Fork and Screen in that the Dine-In Theater has the awesome reclining leather seats and the full meal service. Fork and Screen is typically a seat at a table with the meal service. The servers are quick and efficient and of course, the seats are luxurious. We did have a couple of small issues. First, when we got our burgers, the bottom bread was already soaked. The burger was medium, which wasn't bad, but we prefer our burgers a little more done. The burger doneness was not asked by the server. Our food was still good, so I'm not knocking down my rating too much for that. The food is a bit on the pricey though. $35 for 2 burgers and 2 sodas. A lot of that is the typical $4 movie theater soda. Still, it was a fun time and when I want dinner and a movie, AMC Studio 30 is high on the list. read more

Love this theater. I come to this theater over others when I'm hungry because I love the Fork & Screen/Cinema Suites, a restaurant within a theater. I have gotten quesadillas, fried shrimp, chicken, salads, pizzas, some of the chefs specials. All pretty tasty. Plus, Fork & Screen theaters are 18+ and Cinema Suites is 21+. Good for when you just can't handle the texting teenagers and crybabies. Even if you don't go that route, the concession stand for the regular movies is pretty extensive as well. I love the s'mores popcorn (sweet and salty...yum). In general I think the employees are helpful, and if I ever have an issue, it's most likely to be directed towards a customer, not the theater itself. read more

I LOVE the option for Fork & Screen. I've done the family and intimate suite experience for both lunch and dinner. Honestly, every time I've ate the food has been horrible and it's expensive (which I wouldn't mind if I actually ate or enjoyed it) I've been about 7 or 8 times this year and I still haven't found something to eat that I enjoy. I really just go for the movie experience. The staff is always great and it's clean and the chairs are comfortable. Next time I think I am going to ask to dine off the kids menu or if that fails just order some apps. The IMAX - don't go it's not worth the extra money I'd much rather go to the Fork & Screen where I don't enjoy the food. The sound is great but it's the smallest IMAX I've ever been too. I just recently went to see "the gift" at this theater location for fork and screen. due to my mother going with me and her being on oxygen, I usually do not go to movies in the evening time. people are less patient with elderly or sick patients in the evenings. during the day, there are less people at the movie theater, so this is when i choose to go. To avoid any drama, I prepaid my tickets online so that all we had to do was grab them from the machine and go. The first thing that did bother me is that ordering tickets online, you have to choose seating and I think this is dumb. my money should only cover my presence in a seat, not having a certain one. that being said, I come in and see that the seating I paid for some woman is sitting in it texting on her cellphone. there were only her and 3 other people seated in there. I quickly looked and found a more comfortable seat, more conducive to my viewing needs and sat down. our server waited until the movie started to take our order, which caused him to bring our food when the 1st half of the movie had been over, which later led to us having to take some food to go because we only had half of the time allowed to eat it. the menu used to be good in the past, but this time, the burger price went from 8 to 12 dollars. I saw no dessert options, which they had in the past and the fries used to be parmesan seasoned, now they are just oily with hardly no salt. I asked for a half and half soda and got a watered down drink. i don't know what happened to AMC, but I am hoping they check themselves before this moviebuff will have to find another venue read more

Back again for another movie. This time in the dining portion. Larger room. Very comfortable seating. The food smelled good but I did not purchase any. I like the sound of the sushi rolls which are on the starters/shares menu. $8 a roll, fair pricing of the sushi is decent. Large menu to choose from including salad, burgers, sandwiches, etc... Sides you can choose from too. Fountain beverages, beer and mixed drinks available. The staff seemed courteous. The sound system was good, not overly loud. Going to the movies is fun no matter what movie you see, however prices are ridiculous. AMC is still the best theater to go to in Olathe. From its Fork & Screen half, which provides you with a full service meal, to the IMAX experience, the quality and options are just not available at other theaters. Tip: One of the best kept secrets that everyone seems to forget about is AMC's acceptance of outside food and drink. I was told by an AMC corporate guy that theaters are not supposed to stop you from bring in your own food and drink. This could save you ten bucks at least!!!! read more

Screens/seating/movie viewing - 4.5/5 nice theatres, they appear to take care of the seats and the equipment, nice sound and viewing experience Service - 2/5: ticket taker actually laughed at my Dad when he tried to present the code he printed off for our tickets before directing him to service desk. Some servers in fork & screen were good, but two others kept mixing up drinks, forgetting orders, losing tickets. Food (fork & screen): 3.5/5: parents seemed to enjoy their selections, but had a few issues with being over sweet. The biggest & baddest AMC multiplex theater in the KC metro. Movies are quite expensive these days, but the cost is justified for the experience you get at a nice, modern, well kept facility such as this. Several hi-tech/upscale movie going options available: IMAX, 3D, Fork & Screen, Cinema Suites, etc. The snack bar has also just been renovated and is more self-service oriented (which I like). You get your own concessions and take them to the counter to pay. There are also several different varieties of popcorn seasoning now available which is a nice touch. I recently found out that AMC no longer allows outside food and beverage (which was a little known secret to begin with). Kind of a bummer, but I understand from a profitability standpoint when concessions are a large portion of your revenue. My only gripe is the ticket line. Yes, you can order your tickets online and go through the whole automated process, but if you like to be spontaneous and you come here on a whim without ordering online, there are never enough employees staffed at the ticket counter. Kind of frustrating if you are a preview Nazi and your show starts in less than 5 minutes. read more

So the friends and I decided to go and see a movie tonight and decided to do Forks & Screens. I haven't gone in a little while so imagine my surprise when I reserved the tickets online and they no longer offer the voucher with the ticket....so on weekends you now pay $12 for a ticket with no voucher offered (cinema suites is $15 w/out voucher but the movie we wanted to see wasn't playing in a suite). With all that said it really isn't much of a big deal but it was kind of nice having the voucher to use on food even though you already know that you'll end up spending cash anyways. The theater was extremely clean and the staff was great and attentive. I ordered the potato skins($7.99) and the prime rib griller($9.99). The potato skins were delicious! They had a great amount of cheese and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The prime rib griller was just alright, it wasn't anything amazing. Some of the pieces of sliced meat were a bit to fatty for me. Obviously I was far to full to eat anything else but I the desserts looked yummy. So all in all the whole night was good, the service was great which always makes everything that much better. read more
