After not being able to go to the movies for a year, I felt like it was only fitting to finally write a review after being closed for so long. Although I've been to this location multiple times, I decided to write a review from tonight's experience with COVID guidelines involved. I went to watch the new Demon Slayer movie tonight (which was AMAZING btw), and AMC has absolutely nailed the COVID protocol. The line for concessions was short and sweet and no wait time at all. For drinks, you go over to the CocaCola Freestyle machines where a worker is there to fill your drink instead of multiple people touching the machine. AMC also made sure to have a space blocked off between you and the people on either side of you whenever you choose your seat, preventing people from sitting right beside you. All in all, it was a very nice experience just like I remember from last year.

A good suburb, movie theater. Always clean, soda machines are self serve, and they have the comfy recliner seats.

If you want good customer service, DO NOT go to this theater. You can't even connect to a individual if you call them every time.

From the moment I sank into those ultra-comfortable, spacious reclining chairs, I knew this was going to be something special. The seats are ridiculously plush--plenty of room to stretch out, perfect recline, and enough space that even my tall frame didn't feel cramped. It felt more like lounging in my living room than sitting in a theater, but with a massive screen and incredible sound. As for the movie itself, "A Great Awakening" is an absolute masterpiece. It's powerful, thought-provoking, and emotionally gripping from start to finish. The storytelling is masterful, the performances are outstanding, and the cinematography is breathtaking. I was completely immersed the entire time. It left me inspired, moved, and genuinely uplifted--exactly what a great film should do. The theater in Franklin gets everything right: clean facilities, friendly staff, and those heavenly recliners that make the whole experience feel luxurious. I can't recommend this combination enough. If you're anywhere near Franklin, do yourself a favor and see "A Great Awakening" here. You won't just watch a great movie--you'll enjoy it in total comfort.

While this theater isn't perfect, it definitely feels like a step above others in Middle TN. There is plenty of free parking on-site. We purchased our tickets online in advance, and heeded the warning about the movie starting 20 minutes or so after the initial time listed. The staff working concessions was quick and friendly - and they seemed appropriately staffed for a busy night at the movies. Popcorn prices are pretty standard to other theaters, and they do have several other food options if you're interested in more of a meal. Our movie was showing in the Dolby Theater (6), and I feel like this made our experience even better. The seats vibrate and are synced with the action and music throughout the movie, making it a truly immersive event. The recliners are comfortable, if a bit dated. Honestly though, there are still theaters in Nashville that don't have any recliners at all, so an older recliner is still a win in my book. Thankfully, the bathrooms were pretty clean as well.

Nashville Film Festival is in its 53rd year. For those who are unaware, that's practically unheard…read moreof in the film festival world. Capitalizing on its location in Music City (Nashville, TN), the Nashville Film Festival is a week-long festival that weaves together film, music, and culture and produces a film festival that is both critically acclaimed and noted for its hospitality. The festival utilizes some of Nashville's most historic cinemas - The Belcourt Theater, the Franklin Theatre in nearby Franklin, TN, and the Andrew Johnson Theatre at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. The Virgin Hotels in Nashville also hosted screenings. I've always sort of been on the fringes of the Nashville Film Festival starting when Brian Owens (formerly of Indy Film Fest) was their artistic director and because of a sort of kinship that exists between Nashville and Indy's own Heartland Film Festival. However, this year was the first year I became actually credentialed by the festival as a film journalist and was able to cover screenings as press. The process for credentialing was really media friendly and I've been super impressed with how much follow-up the festival does with its media. It really makes me want to stay in Nashville and cover the entire week (which I may do next year). This year's festival had 150+ screenings (both in-person and virtual offerings, though the virtual offerings were definitely more limited). They also offered panels, workshops, live music performances, a creators conference, and quite a few activities after the day of screenings for filmmakers, press, and specific target populations. The film festival is guided by the non-profit organization NashFilm and it does offer year-round activities including outdoor movies, educational programming (they offered a great screening of the wonderful documentary "Butterfly in the Sky" during the festival for area school kids), the Living Reel Project, and quite a bit more. Of the theatres, Belcourt is easily my favorite. As is true of all festivals (or most), tickets are less expensive if a member. However, you can also get all access passes that really make it pretty affordable. The website makes it super easy to check out film options, the schedule, and to get tickets. Staff and volunteers are all friendly and helpful and I really like the vibe here. It's artsy yet accessibly so. I suppose I expected it to be a tad snootier and that just wasn't the experience at all. This is a definite gem of a film festival. It lacks the pretentiousness of some festivals and really just offers great screenings at great venues and people you enjoy being around. If you're in Nashville, it's a no-brainer to attend and I'd definitely consider this a festival worth taking some vacation time and attending!

I mean, this is right up there with sitting behind the glass at a Predators game! A person at the festival told me that the atmosphere of openness and accessibility was how the big-city, big-name film festivals used to be. It's unfortunate that things change and I understand that it is most likely a response to changing conditions at the festival sites. I felt like I was a VIP with the access that I had to directors, producers, sponsors, writers, and generally anyone that had anything to do with the movies. Admission to the movies was $12, or $9 if you were wearing a rock n roll t-shirt, which was not advertised very heavily. The Regal Green Hills Stadium 16 is not a new theater, which added to the ambiance when watching movies. Seats were comfy but a bit creaky at times. Some of the movies/events I enjoyed: Musica Campesina - A new immigrant tries to get his feet on the ground in a new city (filmed in Nashville!) 10 Days to Nashville - Short documentary of a couples journey to their mecca - Nashville again! Stranger Things - Trust and human connections are explored Broke - The music industry is in flux and how one group is struggling to make it big Gustavo Santaolla - Two-time Academy Award winner who scored Brokeback Mtn and many other films Terri - Social misfit develops a warm relationship and has a coming of age experience Mercy Lounge - Closing party I will be there next year!

Parking was fairly easy as there's a lot of it, but it's difficult if there's a show at the Opry and it can get very crowded. It was quite pricey seeing a 4DX movie here with popcorn and a drink. For three people, we spent well over $150 which is honestly, stupid expensive. Thankfully, we saw the newest Avatar so at least we spent 4 something hours here to get some of our moneys worth (except the movie was quite boring and the worst one of the franchise). The 4DX seating was great and we will definitely be back for more movie thrills when we move to TN. However, due to the costs, we won't be making a habit out of going often.

While I thought I knew what to expect, I feel like the Regal moviegoing experience has declined significantly in the last few years. My biggest complaint was that they were so eager to clear out the theater, they turned the lights on with more than five minutes left in the movie. At least wait until the end credits to hurry people out! And I was prepared for high concession prices but they do seem quite a bit more expensive than their competitors in the area. Overall I wouldn't mind paying more for a "premium" 4DX experience, but come on, keep the lights off during the movie!

They have a bar with alcohol options, which is a nice bonus if that's your thing. Popcorn was fresh and buttery. Room for Improvement: Service was just okay. The employee we spoke with initially wasn't very helpful, and my partner noted that service at concessions was a bit slow--it took about 10 minutes for them to get back to the theater with drinks and popcorn. Do you like thought-provoking and high-quality foreign films?…read more You could certainly catch a show at Nashville's appealing Belcourt Theatre (http://www.belcourt.org/) -- but did you also know that Vanderbilt has an International Lens series of films that it shows for FREE on its campus?! Here's the link to this season's lineup - http://www.vanderbilt.edu/internationallens/ Tonight I saw a tragic and thought-provoking Austrian film about Jewish counterfeiters working in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813547). Sure, perhaps I could have borrowed the film from the library, but Vanderbilt gave me the opportunity to see it on the big screen along with a brief introduction and post-show discussion led by a German professor. And did I mention this was free?! Gosh I love living near a major university that is willing to open its arms to the surrounding community and share its cultural largess. Thank you, Vanderbilt! What else...seats are comfy and the theater is clean, but don't expect stadium seating or cup holders. Sarratt Cinema is very nice, but not particularly fancy, ostentatious or luxurious. There was a limited selection of snacks and candies available at the door. I didn't get any, but I did notice that they had some sort of special deal where you could get a free popcorn if you purchased any other concession. Some other audience members took advantage of that offer. As you might expect from the venue, the audience seemed erudite and was well-behaved during the film. The cinema is on a lower level of the Sarratt Student Center (http://www.vanderbilt.edu/studentcenters/sarratt-student-center). If you're not already familiar with its location, you may want to plan on arriving a little early to find your way around and find someplace to park. So c'mon and take a cinematic trip around the world through the magic of film and the International Lens series @ Sarratt Cinema! What did Siskel and Ebert always used to say? "Until next time, the balcony is closed." (Er, only there is no actual balcony at Sarratt Cinema. But you get the idea. Work with me, people. Work with me. Yelpover and out.)
