The Grand Ole Opry is the iconic venue that you really have to see if you're in Nashville. A…read moreperhaps lesser example is First Avenue/7th Street Annex in Minneapolis. It also doesn't hurt to have seen the Ken Burns Country Music production to add a bit of history and context to this place and Ryman. Auditorium. It's a decent Taxi/Uber ride out here (and back), with drop off and finding one to go back pretty easy. There are snacks and a gift shop here, but if you want to make it a dinner and a show, there are places nearby. Gayle and I, along with Erin and Jim attended the April 30 performance of Opry Country Classics. The Larry Gatlin (and Brothers) were the MCs, with the Opry band handling the backup music, and Charlie Mattos doing the folksy "Play by Play", all live on WSM (We Shield Millions) Radio. Performers were Janie Fricke, Hanna Dasher, Moe Bandy, and Daily and Vincent as the featured artist. It was a great show! We had a nice 4 seat pew near the front, the sight lines (direct and via screens) were clear, and the sound quality/mix was excellent. Daily and Vincent (with the guest banjo player) were fantastic and I've already preordered their next album. The only minor irritation was Hanna Dasher shamelessly promoting her cook book (Stand by Your Pan), but even that added to the high quality entertainment value of this show. I'd love to experience this again.

The Grand Ole Opry refers to a live country music radio broadcast, not a theater. Founded on…read moreNovember 28, 1925, it is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history, with over 5,200 episodes. The Grand Ole Opry has operated out of several venues, and since 1974, performances have been in the Grand Ole Opry House; previously, it was the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville between 1943 to 1974. This year (2026) is a special year, as the Grand Ole Opry turns 100, and on February 28, 2026, there was a performance to celebrate 25 year anniversary of the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou?" The movie is well known for its soundtrack, and it introduced bluegrass music to a new generation. Performing were several artists from the soundtrack, such as Alison Krauss (my fifth time seeing her!), Emmylou Harris, Dan Tyminski, The Whites, The Fairfield Four, and the actor Tim Blake Nelson. There were also numerous other artists performing songs from the soundtrack such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Billy Strings, Sarah Jarosz, Molly Tuttle, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, and many, many more. Even though I didn't know most of the performers, I really enjoyed the show. After the performance, there was a Q&A with Tim Blake Nelson, Dan Tyminski, and Chris Thomas King. Imagine coming to a friendly strangers house and watching friendly strangers perform a play for you in their living room. That's the Lakewood Theater experience. The better half and I saw 39 Steps, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The players do a wonderful job of telling a story with a bare minimum of props and some pretty decent acting. If you are looking for a Broadway experience, you'll probably be disappointed but if you are looking for some fun in an intimate setting I highly recommend it.

STILL SCRATCHING MY HEAD!…read more Let's be honest, Lakewood Theatre is a very small, very old, slightly neglected theater. HOWEVER, this little theatre really delivered when it came to their recent production of A Christmas Carol. My husband and I were simply bewildered by the talent here as it is a very small town and this venue does not exactly scream: Talent resides here! According to one audience member, the theatre has been around for approximately 30 years but the building is quiet a bit older and this is most evident with the seats. The wooden seats are super narrow and somewhat uncomfortable for those that are fluffier than most. They appear to be at least fifty years old. The production was very professional as was the cast. My husband and I both agreed that this group of talented actors and actresses deserve a larger and much nicer space. Regardless of the venue, the play did not suffer one bit. We enjoyed every aspect of it including the singing and instrumental performances. This play was perfect for the entire family and proudly represented the spirit of Christmas. Lakewood is a great little theatre and worth checking out if you are looking for great plays and performances.

Cavalia Odysseo - VIP tent where the buffet meal and dessert bar are located

Fantastic experience! I was one of the fortunate ones to have been invited to enjoy the VIP Cavalia…read moreexperience thanks to being a Yelp Elite! The VIP experience included: 1. Full buffet prior to the show for 1.5 hours which consisted of smoked salmon, grilled chicken, fried rice, prime rib, pasta salad, kale salad, shrimp cocktail, couscous, hummus, etc - Foodwise I was pretty underwhelmed. Everything tasted alright but nothing made me want to go back for seconds. It was definitely all filler to soak up for alcohol. 2. Open bar with champagne, wine, beers, and juices - I readily helped myself to multiple glasses of their red and white wine (one selection each). The bartenders were heavy with the pours and very friendly. Be generous with the tips, folks! They take care of you! You're also welcome to take your drinks in to the show which my boyfriend and I took full advantage of. 3."Kid's Corner" - I saw pepperoni and cheese pizza. Heard there were also sliders and mini hot dogs but I never saw any. My boyfriend loved the pizza. Hah. 4. Free parking! - It's a gravel lot and usually costs $20. The interior of my car is absolutely ruined from all the dust and sand that came in from this but it was worth it. I've been needing to get my car cleaned anyways. I would recommend getting rug covers though if you don't want to have to clean your rugs the next day. 5. Dessert hour during intermission - I'm not a big sweets person, but my boyfriend really enjoyed the cookies. There were also an array of cakes. I loved the fruits (watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew). 6. Free popcorn! - Self explanatory. Freshly popped from one of those movie-theater popcorn machines. So good! 7. VIP-only restrooms - I don't recall seeing a ton of people here so it felt like it was exclusive to those who were in VIP. Clean and way better than portapotties. 8. Meet and greet with the performers - Two of the performers came into the VIP tent after the show to sign our book. Really nice guys! 9. Access to the mainstage, stables and training area - I think I missed the actual group tour and just ended up stumbling into the stables area. Loved seeing the horses up close. Some were very friendly and came right up to you. One even licked my entire forearm! They all looked well taken care of. 10. Cavalia book souvenir - Nice book with gorgeous photos printed on heavy paper. Great item to have to relive your experience! 11. AMAZING seats. - We were literally SO close to the stage. There was also a boutique area in the VIP tent for you to pick up more souvenirs like books, plushes, and shirts from the show. The show itself was better than I was expecting! I absolutely loved watching how well trained the horses were (Fun fact: it typically takes a horse 9 years to be trained for one of these shows!). I wish my dog was this well trained. The vocalist was GREAT. She sounded beautiful. The acrobats were very impressive as they demonstrated their gravity defying acts. The stage itself was also breathtaking. It's HUGE. So many gorgeous colors and lighting! The only thing I wish it had was more of a narrative/storyline or maybe there was and I just completely missed it. Overall, we had an absolutely great time. We also got to meet fellow Yelp Elites (Hey Brittany and Scott!) which made the experience even more enjoyable! Once again, fantastic job Johnny and team! Can't wait for the next event!

The show last about an hour and then you get a 30 min intermission and go back into the VIP area for desserts and then back to the show. This was such an amazing show from the music, the stages, artists and horses. Its so worth every penny!!! It was so entertaining. We got a chance to meet the horses and some of the artists. And also go backstage and check out all the setup. Best experience ever. I will never forget this show!!! They are only here til the 15th of October so don't hesitate to go see the awesome show and splurge on the VIP package.

First, let me say that I frequent metaphysical shops and psychic services. You might say I am a…read moreconnoisseur of karma... an afterlife aficionado, if you will. Regardless, I know when a psychic service is quality and when it is an absolute abomination. My experience at The Psychic Shop aligns with the latter as if the two phrases were interchangeable. Now before, proceeding, please bear in mind, I do not often make a fuss and, in fact, I created a Yelp account for the sole purpose of airing my feelings about my experience at this company. It was THAT horrid. I stopped by The Psychic Shop to receive a palm reading from Sabrina. No amount of prefacing of "it is impossible to give a 100% accurate reading" could justify the incredibly vague and totally inaccurate waste of time and money that I received. To begin, it was $60 for a 15 minute reading. I did not receive 15 minutes of service. In fact, my servicer seemed to have run out of ideas to throw out after about 5 minutes so she began recycling the same ideas in slightly different wording. As for the reading itself, I could have received more insight about my life from the back of a cereal box- with little to no exaggeration. For those who may be skimming reviews, you may notice commonalities between readings of reviewers. That's because they're virtually the same generic lines that that this company uses to prey on those who are naïve enough to believe that they are the real deal. My reading is as follows: You will live a long life and have a couple of children. You will have good news in March, April, or May. I was asked if twins run in my family. Nope. I was asked about my husband. No husband. I asked about what the good news would be in those months.... "positive energy." I truly believe that I paid $60 for a fortune cookie. Not to mention, I was being given a palm reading and she didn't look at my palms. To close, I was told that I should not tell anyone about this reading for the next few days or it may not be as accurate. Given that not a single thing was accurate, I am hoping that me airing all of this out about 30 minutes after receiving this reading will cancel out the bad juju like PEMDAS and something positive might come out of this dumpster fire. And here's the kicker.... my brother got a reading too! We were both told not to speak of our readings... and you know why? BECAUSE THEY WERE THE SAME. To conclude, this is a scam. Don't waste your money. And to the owner who will inevitably write back and offer a reading to make up for the poor experience- I don't want a reading. However, I would love a refund for the collective $120 that my brother and I spent for the 10 minute practiced monologue. Thanks :-)
