Absolutely worth the investment (honestly, very reasonable for full service planning & on-site coordination) and worth building into the budget. Wedding Planning Process: My husband and I booked Tejel within 2 weeks of getting engaged for the full wedding planning & onsite coordination and I think it was the best decision we made. From the first call, Tejel and I clicked & it felt like a huge weight was lifted immediately. To name a few of the many key aspects: we wanted a destination wedding, so Tejel suggested venues that fit our criteria. She then worked with us to find our DJ & priest, coordinating calls, helping negotiate pricing, and reviewing critical details. She reviewed our venue contracts, travel agency contracts, and other vendor contracts so that we didn't miss important items or flags. Tejel created timelines immediately, sending us the to-do lists & spreadsheets that would keep us organized in the months to come. During our scheduled calls, we went over next steps, action items, ideas, and more. Tejel was always handling the emails to the venue and our onsite coordinators, keeping us on copy, so knowing she had visibility + would initiate responses took a HUGE weight from our shoulders. She knew our budget and constraints, but also knew where we'd be flexible and her insight was invaluable! On-site Process: Tejel + her assistant made sure EACH event went off without a hitch. She worked with our on-site coordinators and teams to go through the sites, suggest placements for all items, and bring our vision to life. Our guests have been continuously talking about how punctual, organized, and beautiful each of our events were and that wouldn't have happened without Tejel. She kept EVERYONE on task (which is so hard to do in an Indian wedding, especially with lots of family members), she was great with both sides of our families, she communicated throughout each event with me and my husband, and she made sure the two of us ALWAYS had food for every single event. We had our wedding with Tejel in July 2023 and I give her a 1 star review for the following 3 reasons, she is not a 5 star wedding planner for high end weddings. We did our wedding with Tejel 18 months ago so my review is not written in the post wedding glow but with Tejel's full capability and support in mind. 1. She is unable to handle basic issues during your wedding. Twice, I had to personally step in as the groom to handle issues with my room block that Tejel was given the opportunity to handle and could not. 2. She ridiculed us for asking for more staff in our wedding. She uses her husband as a wedding planner. While a great guy, she should not be charging market rates using her husband as staff who is not trained. 3. Finally, Tejel provides no after wedding support. We had minor issues with our wedding photo and videographer, who were Tejel's preferred vendors and did her own wedding. She provided no after wedding support, sounded annoyed when I reached out to her for support, and did not nothing to affect the outcome. I ended paying them more money for footage that I already paid them tens of thousands of dollars for. Tldr; I cannot recommend Tejel. She purports herself as a full service wedding planner but is not. I don't feel like she cared about me and my bride. I would not recommend her for your high end wedding. If you're doing a basic or mid range wedding, she may be suitable. 1. My guests rooms were not ready when we checked in despite extensive planning and coordination with the wedding planner. Tejel had 3 hours to fix this issue. I had to step in 1 hour before my sangeet because Tejel was unable to handle it. She is too cozy with the vendors and does not want to risk her reputation to get the job done. She has to work with the hotel again for future weddings but she already has my money for the wedding planning. 2. Her husband is a great guy but should not be a wedding planner. He was not informed of the process and is there to keep Tejel company but can't do the job. We paid for an extra wedding planner, which Tejel made a derogatory comment for my wife being high maintenance. Thank god, my wedding would have been a disaster otherwise. This extra wedding planner worked more hours than she was paid to because Tejel was otherwise overwhelmed. 3. Tejel provides zero post wedding support. We used the same wedding photographers and videographers as she did for her own wedding. Tejel's one recommended vendor for the wedding. Despite paying them $6k to film my Sangeet, they charged me an extra grand to get the footage and performances for my Sangeet. Have they ever done an Indian wedding? Where was Tejel in making sure we weren't fleeced in the contract negotiations as is her job in her contract? I asked Tejel for help and she washed her hands. I paid the money to get the footage. She did absolutely nothing to help in our dispute. I can't recommend a full service wedding planner that doesn't stand behind her recommended vendors. Tejel was also generally hesitant to meet after 5 pm PT, which for a working couple is hard. I would have expected our full service wedding planner to be willing to meet in the evening to discuss our wedding details. I routinely had to meet during my work day at 3 or 4 pm, taking time off work to accommodate my wedding planner. I strongly recommend another wedding planner and cannot recommend her if you're doing a high end wedding in the Bay Area. There are better wedding planners for the same money. Tejel and her team were fantastic coordinators for our wedding! We could not have been happier with the result as her experience and professionalism paid off throughout the weekend. Because Tejel had also worked closely with our decorator, DJ, and many of our other vendors, she was well-equipped to handle any minor issues that arose during the planning and execution of our wedding. From the start, Tejel was friendly, responsive, and transparent. She explained her approach, listed all the things covered by her different packages, and was fair on pricing. Because we had already selected our other vendors, we retained her for "month of" coordination for our sangeet, ceremony, and reception. That said, she has a ton of experience and knowledge of the Bay Area Indian wedding industry so we're sure she'd be fantastic at doing more comprehensive planning and coordination. About two months prior to the wedding, Tejel was part of our site visit with our decorator and gave us great tips on how to make each event run as smoothly as possible. In the month leading up to the wedding, she made sure all of our vendors were aligned on timing and their obligations (e.g., ensuring that the vendors had proper certificates of insurance, coordinating timing of caterer deliveries, etc.). She also worked with us to make sure that our timelines provided enough time for the hair-and-makeup artists, photography, and other key vendors for setup and execution. Her experience was valuable at every step. During the wedding weekend, Tejel and her team were fantastic. First and foremost, they made sure that we did not feel burdened by any of the logistics because they were so well organized. Second, Tejel and her team made sure that we had food and drink during each event. This may seem like a small thing, but it allowed us to enjoy the events fully rather than worry about trying to get a drink or a bite to eat. Finally, Tejel and her team were great communicators - they let us know if they had any questions about any of the details or decisions that needed to be made and they made sure our families were kept up-to-date as well. Tejel and her team also managed the minor issues that occurred during the wedding weekend. For example, one of our guests had a fall during one of the speeches at the sangeet. Tejel and her team made sure that the guest was OK and minimized any disruption to the event. Similarly, we noticed that there were no steps to help guests get onto the stage to take photos with us during the reception. Within two or three minutes, Tejel and her team had arranged for the hotel staff to bring stairs to the stage, which made it much easier for our elderly guests to take photos with us on the stage. Finally, during the wedding ceremony and reception processions, Tejel made sure that guests or other hotel staff did not get in the way of the carefully planned processions. This made sure our photography and cinematography came out as nicely as possible. You know Tejel and her partner in crime, Vicky, did an amazing job when our guests noticed how hard at work they were while my wife and I, and our families, and our guests, enjoyed the occasion. It was our decor vendor who first recommended we get a wedding planner, a month before our big day, and she recommended Tejel, and we are so glad we were pointed her way. The novel: Welcome to the story of how Arham (my now husband) and I fell in love with Tejel. Our friend recommended her to us after having experienced her magical work at his sister's wedding. We reached out to Tejel, but unfortunately she wasn't available for the weekend of our wedding. Fast forward past several unsuccessful wedding planner interviews and we desperately reached back out to Tejel asking if she would be willing to take us on. She agreed to a phone call, and although she was only taking on clients for 30-day wedding coordination, after incessant begging she was willing to take us on for the full wedding planning package and see us the whole way through. It is clear that Tejel is well-known and LOVED throughout the Bay Area wedding vendor community. We threw a curveball at her when we decided we preferred an LA venue and wanted to meet with local vendors there. So, when my sister got engaged, I suggested that we reach out to her and we are SO glad we did. Tejel and her team (Nips, Vicky, and Krupa) coordinated my sister's sangeet and wedding this past weekend. It was absolutely magical and would not have been possible without them! As the sister of the bride, I had helped my mom and sister with a lot of the planning and details behind the scenes, but I wasn't working directly with Tejel. So, the first time I met her was the day of my sister's sangeet and I felt instantly at ease. Tejel is so genuine, warm, and easy to talk to, which made me feel like I had known her for years. When my lehenga ripped 5 minutes before I was supposed to dance at the sangeet (and I was so panicked!!!), Tejel was there to make sure I was okay. This really stood out to me because not only is she attentive to the bride and groom, but also to their families. After my dance, she checked in on me again to make sure I was okay (and brought me a drink - much needed!) Tejel is also incredibly patient and adapts to the dynamic of the bride, groom, and their families to ensure that they are comfortable. We sent her a list of last minute requests or things to check in on the day before the sangeet, and she was on it without any hesitation. Also, as unexpected obstacles came up the day of the wedding, Tejel and her team were able to handle them without creating any stress for my sister (the bride) and groom. At the same time, Tejel and her team kept my mom and I in the loop about any changes, which we preferred and appreciated so we were never caught by surprise. Tejel is a rockstar planner and super well-connected! She was the backbone of smooth planning and execution of our wedding! We reached out to Tejel in Oct'22 after looking at online reviews. We spoke to her and 4 other wedding planners in the Bay Area, and in our first conversation, we felt that she was professional and super quick in communication. Perfectly fitted my type A personality! Our wedding was initially planned for Summer'23 but we accelerated to Feb'23 based on venue availability. My then fiance Siddharth lived in California, and I had just moved to the US (Ohio) from Singapore. Tejel did not bat an eyelid with accelerated timelines and coordination across different time zones. She helped us pick vendors and select concepts/ designs between Nov-Dec'22 and most of the plan was locked in 2 months of reaching out to her. She knows most vendors in the Bay Area, and is perceptive to client's requirements. A few days before the wedding, I had a bad experience with one make-up artist over trial, and Tejel not only found an alternate artist within hours but even offered to compensate the first one. We had Sangeet in one venue, and the wedding ceremony next morning in a different venue. Her team carried all the puja stuff a day earlier, and the return gifts for both events were completely taken care, in regards to placement, packing and loading into our cars. Where do I start with how wonderful it was working with Tejel? Seerat and I started working with Tejel earlier this year and she was instrumental in bringing our wedding vision to life. She is not only exceptionally organized and proactive with recommendations, she's really fun to work with! Planning a wedding during the pandemic was difficult, but being able to rely on Tejel, her team and her broader network of vendors made everything easier. There were numerous times where we had to change directions with our vendors and Tejel was brilliant at finding creative solutions. She did a great job balancing feedback from multiple family members and always ensured the bride and groom's wishes were the focus. Just to paint an example of how resourceful Tejel is: my wife, Seerat, had a last minute complication with her dupatta and Tejel was able to find someone and book them within 8 minutes of us reaching out to her. She works tirelessly for her clients and our wedding would not have been the same with her. In fact, we received dozens of compliments from our wedding guests on how organized and structured our multi-event celebration was. I felt like Tejel really listened to what was important to us and recommended vendors that fit that vision. For example, she searched all over California to find us a horse and carriage that we could use for our wedding day. All you need to do is tell her what you want and she will make it happen. That's the kind of person she is. On the day of our wedding reception at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, Tejel and her team (Vicky, Krupa, and Khyati) did a masterful job of keeping everything on track and dealing with last minute changes out of our control. We also noticed that Tejel worked really well with the staff at the Ritz and made sure all the vendors delivered on time - we had no stress!! The quote of the review would, of course, be from my bride Prina: "People kept asking me if I was stressed out planning my wedding and I kept saying no because I have a Tejel." I have to admit, at first, I was skeptical on having a wedding planner or coordinator at all but this is one of those stories where a type-A, micro-managing, overzealous about the details, annoying (groom) was completely wrong. We definitely needed Tejel and our friends, families, vendors, and even strangers have all stated that we may have thrown the wedding of the year. The 3-day event took nearly a year of relaxed planning: several meals, a Vidhi Ceremony, a Mehndi Party, a Tamil-centric "kuthu" baraat featuring a rickshaw, a gorgeous Gujju waterfront outdoor wedding in the San Diego marina, and a reception with so many moving parts to close things off. Throughout it all, I'm sure Tejel can attest that I was still a bit annoying as small glimpses of both my diva self and my Groomzilla self came out but I was able to let loose completely eventually for Tejel to gracefully facilitate a smooth, gorgeous wedding that our friends and family (even those that have been to dozens on dozens of Indian weddings) cannot stop raving about. Tejel, Krupa, Mansi... the ambiance that you stand for extended to a thoroughly satisfying peace of mind. For someone that constantly needs to be in control, my phone was with one of my Groomswomen or the Maid of Honor for most of the weekend while I was able to just take things in, one breath at a time, organically and just enjoy our big day knowing that even if a dozen (and sometimes seemingly a million little things might be going wrong behind the scenes) that the ABT team took the brunt of that stress to execute a perfect wedding. I'm always on my phone so this was a big deal. Most couples say they don't eat during their weddings but no, not us. Tejel and her team ensured we had a peaceful intimate meals at both our Mehndi dinner along with our grand reception continually being served champagne and whiskey without ever feeling rushed. An impossible task, made possible especially with 300+ guests. I went from questioning whether we need a planner to not only fully accepting that one is necessary but understanding the intricacies of coordination enough to know that Tejel is the best in the business and her team, working with our decorator, hotel executives, caterers, bakers, DJ, makeup artists, Mehndi artists, hair stylists, photobooth operators, photographers, videographers, bartenders, along with overbearing uncles and aunties, remained exceptionally immaculate at their jobs. A little overdue on writing this review but I wanted to ensure both my Husband and I can collaborate to leave this for Tejel and her AMAZING team. My wedding was very hectic and not going to lie everyone was over the edge as well as so emotional all morning! If not for Tejel and her team our wedding would not have gone as smooth as possible because thanks to her no one even realized the craziness of the morning. I'm so thankful for the efforts her and Mansi put in especially for me to ensure I was taken care of while the rest of the wedding was being handled. Tejel & her team are INCREDIBLE! We used Tejel for on-the-day coordination for our Sangeet, Ceremony & Reception in June. Everything about our experience with Tejel & team was fantastic. A few things I would like to particularly call out: 1) Due to COVID, we had to postpone our wedding & adjust dates. Tejel was incredibly accommodative and went out of her way to make sure that she can work with our new date. Very much appreciated during a very stressful time for us! 2) As a super Type-A and detail-oriented person, I will admit that it is difficult to impress me -- but Tejel & team managed to do the impossible. It is because of her that our events executed so smoothly, on time, and seamlessly. Tejel and her team are AMAZING! We had a large Indian wedding back in July and I honestly do not know what I would of done without Tejel. From day one she was so calm and collected and most importantly, organized. My wedding was one of the first Indian weddings I was a part of so I had very little experience with what needed to be done, ontop of that I have a crazy Guju family where everyone has an opinion. Tejel handled everyone so well!! She was calm and polite when my mom was freaking out and she explained in detail what was being done. She is so sweet and reassuring she really cares about her clients experience and won't leave you hanging. I would be stressed out and email her at 1am and she would still reply right away or text me. She was always just a phone call or text away. fast forward to the wedding day there were SO many hiccups because our venue was putting so many restrictions on things that were already planned and approved. Tejel handled it all so perfectly. Never once did she come to me with an issue and I had no idea there were even any issues until a couple days after the wedding. I booked Tejel before I had finalized the date for my son's Indian wedding reception. Best decision ever! My family was very skeptical on if we needed an event planner; let me assure you, if you want a stress-free, a well put together event, an event planner is the way to go. Tejel is simply awesome, pleasant, and fun to work with. She has everything mapped out, and is very responsible and reliable, not to mention detail oriented and super resourceful. She provides expert guidance on many event-related key decisions. What I loved about her is that she is very calm; having a calm event planner is key to a stress-free event. Who wants drama anyway:) There were 3 areas where we utilized her expertise: 1. Scouting out venue options to suit our needs; she set up appointments for site visits and reviewed contracts. 2. Selecting all vendors - caterers, decorators, florists, make-up artists, DJs, cake vendors, henna artists, and photographers. This was super helpful since it saved us SO MUCH TIME and energy. We connected directly with all vendors, provided our vision for the event, made our selections, and booked them. Tejel reviewed the contracts for us and tweaked them as needed. She answered any questions that we had, and guided us as needed with some of our selections for the event. Choosing vendors from her list is ideal since they have worked on prior events with her, this is definitely a huge plus, and ensures all vendors are familiar with Tejel's process and she with their needs. 3. Organizing day of program/timeline, and coordinating all event details, connecting and communicating with vendors for set up/breakdown etc. A week prior is when we actually had maximum interaction with Tejel. She ran the show and took care of literally everything for us. The day of support is phenomenal! I had nothing to worry about and totally enjoyed the event. First, I have to say that this review is very much overdue. Tejel is an amazing planner, individual, and friend. I am very grateful to know her! I have worked many events with Tejel over the past few years. I always knew that she would be the only person that I would trust to coordinate my own wedding because, in all my years of working with her and her team, I watched every event unfold as smoothly as possible and end a success every time. I also really wanted to have Tejel as a guest at my wedding because she has become a very dear friend to me over the years. It just so happened that my wedding was around the same time that she was pregnant with her two beautiful twins. The best decision I made for my entire wedding was hiring Tejel. My wedding was postponed twice due to covid (from 2020 to 2021 to 2022), the first two dates for which I had another coordinator. That coordinator closed her business before my third (and thankfully final) date...and it was Tejel to the rescue. She caught up with everything in no time and was instrumental in bringing my wedding vision to life. At the wedding itself, we had Tejel, Vicky, and Krupa on-site...all of whom were amazing. A few examples of Tejel's planning support: - She caught an oversight on my end (I didn't realize I needed to hire extra staff separately for the Sangeet since the venue staff would only serve/bus drinks) and she put me in touch immediately with her staffing contact to hire. I did my due diligence and looked for other vendors but the one she suggested was the best option. - I decided on getting certain china/silverware plus heat lamps within the last few weeks and she put me in touch with the best vendor for the job. - She helped talk through my timelines for each day with me and adjust as-needed. A few examples of Tejel's on-site planning support: - She never let me or my fiancé go hungry, making sure we always had what we needed to eat and/or drink in time. She noticed on the day of my mehndi that the following evening would be a bit chilly so I could use 5 more heat lamps. After running it past me, she called the vendor herself and added more, so I didn't have to. - I learned after the wedding that one of our venue's owners was upset the music was too loud which caused some behind-the-scenes issues. Me and the guests had no idea..everything seemed perfect! She made sure to take care of it in private and not let on there was an issue. - I learned after the wedding that our pandit was over an hour late on the wedding day! I had zero idea. Tejel worked immediately with the other vendors to delay the baraat + lengthen it and stall everyone while making sure they were still having fun (ie. LOTS of music and dancing!). I'm very type A and tend to stress in-the-moment so I'm SO GLAD I had no idea what was going on. - I had lots of personal decor items I wanted laid around the venue for our Sangeet and her team did it all perfectly and in no time. These are just a few of the many examples. I truly think a wedding planner/coordinator is the most important vendor for the wedding. I joked that she was my best friend over those past few days but I meant it! I couldn't have gotten through my four day wedding without her.
