I've been going to Amber for years for Brazilian waxes since my first one. From the beginning she has always done an amazing job while being a wonderful person to chat with. She even schedules by text and has very kindly bumped my appointments around at the last minute several times when life has gotten hectic on me. Her rates are reasonable, and I feel way better supporting a mom and sole proprietor than some fancy salon that takes a ridiculous cut and overcharges. I'm moving to LA soon and I'm super bummed about having to find a new waxer! I will certainly be coming back to Amber whenever I'm in town, if only to say hello and give her a hug. read more

Amber's Essential Touch should be called Amber's Amazing Touch! I had never had anything but my eyebrows waxed and wanted to start small (underarms). Where do I turn to find a good waxer? Yelp of course! Amber was the 1st hit on my search and with a 5-star rating how could I not read the reviews? I wouldn't say waxing isn't painful, but Amber puts you at easy with her great personality and warm atmosphere. She's knows what a woman wants. From her cozy waiting room with complimentary teas and current magazines, to the well stocked ladies room with "personal items" and the candy on your pillow before she rips out your unwanted hairs :) After only 2 visits I tried my 1st Brazilian and I've been recommending everyone I know to visit Amber. I appreciate that she reminds me to exfoliate and sells the items to do so right in her shop. Amber sends you a reminder text before your appointment and has been very accommodating when I need to re-schedule. She also validates parking in the garage just a short walk away. Not only do I appreciate Amber's handy work, but so does my boyfriend. read more

Amber is great. I love that I can text her about appointments and that she is super flexible. I came to her last year for my first brazillian and I've been going to her ever since. She makes the experience as comfortable as it could ever be. Just got a facial and it was great! The atmosphere is relaxing and I love the privacy you get when going to her rather than a salon that serves multiple people at once. All in all, she's pretty freakin awesome! read more

I have started being waxed by Amber now for the past 6 -8 months. Brazilan wax is something I never thought I would do. Now I won't do with out it! Amber is very professional, light hearted, loves what she does and it shows in her work. She is open in the evenings or the weekends which is very handy for hard working men and women. She is very accomodating to your schedual. Give her a call today and treat yourself to something you won't regret! Cindy read more

I found Amber on yelp and I am so glad I did. I have lived in San Francisco for nearly a year and have tried so many waxing salons. At last I have found Amber and I can stop looking now. She uses the best wax (flown in from Europe!) and knows what she is doing to make it the least painful experience possible. I have had troubles with in-grown hairs in the past but this wax was perfect and my nether regions have never looked better. She is super lovely and makes you feel totally at ease in her salon. I can also recommend her brow services. Basically she rocks! Ali read more

I'm am beyond happy I found this place. Ambers attention to detail and creativity is out of the world. The shop has easy parking and it very inviting. I can go weeks without a fill and my nails have never been healthier and or this long. If you are in the east bay and need a great spot to get waxed or get a fabulous set on nails you NEED to contact her. You won't be disappointed! I leave and can't stop staring at my nails! Ricocheting off of the other reviewers - Amber is an angel! I've gone to several estheticians throughout the Bay Area and honestly...Amber has given me the best Brazilian. She's informative about her work, honest in her practices, and strives for quality. I came from Marin to see her, and she's worth the drive! I'll be going to her for everything now - nails (She also does nails!), waxing, and facials. She'll be my go-to lady from now. Thanks Amber! read more

I was so looking forward to my one hour Swedish massage through Trubates that I got for half price! I was met by Aubrey Johnson and had a wonderful relaxing massage by her. She asked if the pressure was right and whether was too hard or not. I think the massage was well worth the price. Gave her a tip based on the actual price for a massage. read more

My nails are always fabulous with Amber. She is fearless, whatever crazy ideas I come up with she gets me and does it. She's very creative when I'm indecisive she always comes up with something beautiful. My nails last at least three weeks and I never lose my bling. Amber has a wonderful and loving energy, and your time with her is always one on one. Your time with her is your time. I can't wait till my next appointment. read more

Not to get into the details, but it'd been a long time since I waxed and the person I had been going to for years was M.I.A......so, I came to Yelp, and saw all these great reviews about Amber and she was close to my house.. Hurray for Amber!!!!!!! She's a lovely lady, who made me feel at ease right away, gentle in voice and method (she uses the blue wax method - way better than the other that makes you feel as if they've taken a layer of two off skin too) and just an all around great gal!! No need to search anymore, I've found the best Brazilian Wax around. read more

Still going to Amber every month! Love my services and most of all love her! Don't waste your time with the rest. read more

Amber will always get 5 stars from me! If they (Yelp) allowed more she'd get those too! I've been going to see my girl Amber since 2008 and she never disappoints when it comes to one on one care. She can connect with anyone on any level and at the same time deliver the best service when it comes too facial, hair removal, nails, etc. I will never, NEVER, go anywhere else! If your looking for an oasis away from your daily life, a day just for you, go see Amber at Amber's Essential Touch I promise you she delivers all every time all the time! read more

Let me start by saying how beautiful and calming it was walking in to Ambers spa today! I loved it! Then I was greeted with a smile which made me feel Calm considering I hadn't gotten waxed in a while, she made me feel relaxed and we laughed that all of the sudden she said ok we are done and it was virtually painless considering my nervousness. I am going back! Amber is amazing!! read more

I have recommended all my friends who are waxing "virgins" to see Amber. You HAVE to see Amber! She's very professional but she makes it seem like you've known each other for years. As she's doing your wax, she calmly explains how she does it and why she does it. Talking to her will make you forget that you're having what many people describe as a stinging procedure (not here). Overall, my appointments with Amber have been quick, painless and the end result has been SPECTACULAR. I have not had the pleasure of getting any other services, but the waxes have my stamp of approval! She's the greatest! read more

Amber is very personable and seems very knowledgable about skin care. Her prices are fair and she is easy to schedule with. She is very friendly and creates a nice environment for waxing. That said, the aftermath of my experience is not working out. I get married tomorrow and had my legs, bikini, arms, underarms and brows waxed on Monday. First, I think the wax was too hot because I was burned in several places on my body - I had red welts that crusted over and are flaking dead skin. Including my face! I have awful bumpy rashes all over my arms that I have never had before. She also didn't have much of an order to her waxing. She'd do part of my bikini, then leg, then something else and as a result she missed patches of hair all over. I liked her a lot, but am really disappointed that I have all these problems with my skin the day of my wedding. read more

Amber is the wax expert for your brazilian wax needs. She really makes you feel so comfortable, that you feel like your talking to a old girlfriend while she is waxing you down there. I give it four stars since its out the way, and it can be a bit expensive but well worth the cost. Amber uses a european wax that is hardwax, which doesn't hurt as bad as strip wax. Overall amber is good at what she does, try her out for yourself, you will not be disappointed. read more

Amber is great!! I came for my first Brazilian wax and she made the experience very easy for me .I came in expecting a lot of pain and irritation but Amber made this experience as painless as possible I barely felt it whenever she was pulled the wax .Amber is also very knowledgeable about her craft she gave me a lot of tips on how to keep my skin moisturized I would definitely recommend Amber for any of your waxing and facial needs she's very professional!!!! read more

Amber is awesome! She was my go to lady for waxings for maybe close to two years! I recently moved to SoCal, so I'm bummed to leave her! Brazilian waxing is not a really pleasant experience for most people and especially when you're seeing an esthetician for the first time, but Amber makes you feel comfortable and at home! The room is calm and relaxing and most importantly clean. She's a sweetheart and I would recommend her to anyone in the East Bay. read more

Amber is MY GIRL! Total professional, with very high standards of cleanliness, quality product and exacting technique. She is a total bad-ass at what she does. She is also very discrete, offering a private and controlled environment where you can relax. Unquestionably LGBT friendly, she's absolutely perfect for transgender customers. Book today, it will change your life. read more

Amber is such a nice person. She makes you feel very comfortable and her salon is not intimidating for first timers like me. She fit me in on a Saturday, when I had contacted her both on a Tuesday and Wednesday (she doesn't answer when with customers). As you know, it was my first time. I got a Brazilian and underarm wax. For the first time, it did hurt, not too much... but I thought it was going to be worst. The underarm was nothing. I was shocked. After the wax, I investigated at home. I was soOoooo smooth. There were some missed hairs. Let's see how the second one goes because those were probably some stubborn hairs. read more

Oh I so don't need the whole world to know I got a Brazilian wax, but Amber was so awesome I will out myself just to sing her praises. I've had waxing done before by "painless" techniques and I have to say Amber's was amazing. She's so personable and nice, she made me laugh, and before I knew it we were through. I loved this and next visit to Oakland I'm stopping by to see her again! read more

Instead of trying to one-up anyone Ima just join the chorus and hopefully my contribution, as it were, is a decent addition-Amber is simply incredible, I shudder when I think about having not checked Yelp and going anywhere else before finding Amber's Essential Touch. And I will not be going anywhere else as long as I'm in the bay...and trust me, I've lived all over the Bay Area (when I lived in SF it was never particularly fun to get to Montclair Village via public transportation but sooo worth it!) . I'm sorry I've never reviewed Amber's business after all these years. The quick+dirty rundown: the way she schedules appts via text is perfect for me. She is super flexible about last-minute changes to appt times and dates I've had to make over the years. Every month I look forward to going and allowing myself to taken care of-she knows so much about skin care and is a pleasure to learn from:). I get my exfoliators from her and they're fantastic! There is nothing more to say, she is ideal and definitely knows her stuff. Every Brazilian ends with allowing me to feel my skin is beautifully ALIVE and healthy!:) read more

Amber is the BEST!!! I've had the pleasure of getting my first brazilian wax and facial from Amber. She talks you through every process explaining the importance and quality of the products she uses. You know how sometimes you go in a place of business and the people there are just doing their job? Rushing you out so they can get to their next customer? You will never have that experience with Amber. She LOVES what she does and loves educating her clients on things they can do at home to improve their skin! read more

I LOVE Amber! She makes waxing *almost* pleasant--not only is she a great esthetician, she knows how to put clients at ease. (Breathe in and out, just like she says.) I recommend her to everyone--especially first-time Brazilianers. ;-) read more

I hadn't gotten a wax in about 8 years and was sick of shaving. Saw that Amber had amazing reviews and am so glad I listened! She was professional and very sweet. Though I'm not sure anyone can be distracted through that pain, she attempted to, engaging me in conversation. I am very happy that I went to her! read more

I would not recommend getting a brazilin wax at Amber's. I tried going to her 3 times. The first time she didn't remove all my hair nor happy trail. I had a strip of hair that wasn't removed and single strands of hair on my lady. She did NOT tweeze the remaining hair. However she did offer me a free clean up, if I returned within a week. I did not return due to my busy schedule. I also felt that's just something she says to pacify you. If her focus were really on customer satisfaction she would have removed the hair that she missed while I was there, not offer me a free clean up. Even though my first experience wasn't great I returned a second time to see if I caught her on a bad day the previous time. On my second visit she greeted me "so what's your complaints". This rubbed me the wrong way. What happen to hello, how's it going? She also missed patches of hair again. Let me back track. She has a deal that if you return in 4 to 5 weeks after your service that your wax will be discounted. However, when it was time for my appointment she texted me a few days before asking if I could reschedule. I told her that was fine. We played phone tag for about 2 weeks before I received my wax. And she charged me regular price even though it was her fault that I didn't come back within the time to receive the discount. Bad customer service. After this time I told myself that I would not be returning because I didn't like the way she does business. she made me feel like she was hustling me. Soo I returned a third time because I was going out of town and couldn't get an appointment anywhere else. This time she also left patches of hair and burned my back door. However this time she did attempt to tweeze the left over hair. That's what she appeared to be doing. However she was just picking at my skin and removed no hair. Needless to say when I returned home I was red in the are that she "tweezed" and bleeding. It is not hard to tweeze hair, I felt like she was just going threw the motion of acting like she was removing my hair. Bad customer service and a bad service. I am now looking for a new wax lady. And another thing, she said that she doesn't like lookin at lady and gets tired of it. Well then why are you in the waxing business? I need someone who loves what they do! read more

I came to see Amber with a Yelp deal and got my brows cleaned up and a facial. Her office is cozy and warm, and Amber herself is a lovely, friendly person. She did a fabulous, detail-oriented job on my eyebrows and was excellent with extractions. She also gave me a lot of good information about skin care. read more

Amber is amazing! This was one of the rare times I've been waxed and not been burned by the wax. I had my full legs and eyebrows done, and Amber did an excellent job. As a big woman and a woman with psoriasis I was hesitant to do anything other than my lower legs in the past. In the past, tiny women wielding hot wax on a strip would gruffly order me to contort in all kinds of ways just to have my lower legs waxed. However, Amber made feel completely at ease and only required me to lie on my stomach or my back. She also told me how to avoid in-grown hairs. She's the absolute best at what she does. read more

My old roommate found Amber and suggested I start going to Essential Touch for waxing. I've been going to Essential Touch now for nearly two years. I love Amber. I never thought it was possible to enjoy a wax, but I do. I have a really low pain tolerance, and Amber somehow makes a wax about as painful as a pinch. It's true. I swear. Also, she uses all organic products, so my skin feels amazing afterwards. And she's so fast that she's done in 15 - 20 minutes! So I can schedule an appointment before work and still make it to the office with time to grab a coffee. Brilliant! And, best of all, she puts you completely at ease. She's always friendly and sweet. A wax can be an embarrassing experience, but never with Amber. All in all, I really can't imagine going to anyone else. read more

I had a good experience here. I got a leg and bikini wax. She was as gentle as you can be for those services :) and very friendly. The only thing I would change is just that it took a long time compared to other places I've been. But I'd rather someone be thorough than careless. Prices are comparable too. I would recommend her to anyone needing similar services. read more

I just had a great waxing experience with Amber! She was knowledgable, efficient, and so personable! I've been looking for a regular waxing spot in the bay for quite some time. When i was in southern california I had a great place i went to regularly and just had not found the same cutsomer service and efficiency at home until now. Her space is inviting and very clean. Her sister is the massuse (going to have to try that out too!). Making an appointment was seemless via text. I'm definitely going to be a regular! read more

Awesome! Was recommended by a friend to do my first brazilian wax here and I was very scared at first. But after amber reassured me its not as bad as it seems and it will get easier after the first couple times, I started to calm down. I trusted her and I am so pleased! It barely hurt and I love the results every time! Love this place. Calming environment and she's very friendly. Thanks amber! read more

I have been going to Amber for almost a year now. She makes the waxing experience more enjoyable than anywhere else I have gone to. She knows the techniques to make it less painful (many other estheticians for some reason do not do this). She is very professional but also friendly and I generally end up laughing during most of our appointments. Oh, and she gives you chocolate... can't beat that! read more

Fabulous a million times over. The reviews are spot on. Amber is flawless and an expert at waxing. So glad I could get an appointment and receive A+ attention. I received a wonderful therapeutic deep tissue swedish massage from Aubre, Amber's sister and colleague. What I appreciated the most was Aubre's intuitive attention to detail. She didn't glaze over my knots. She committed to working them out and educating me about them along the way. She did a great job of creating a peaceful and relaxing space and then answering my questions with specific, detailed knowledge that showed me she knew what she was doing and I could relax even further into the massage. I appreciated this dynamic and felt like I received a highly therapeutic massage that gave me relaxation, peace, knowledge and finally a lot of relief from those deep places of tension that most people never bother to find. Amber rocks! She's skillful, fast, thorough and does the job with minimal pain. She uses great products so there's rarely any redness after a wax. I've been a client for about 5 months having checked out a few places in Montclair and I'm totally hooked. I can book an appointment by text which is really helpful and then Amber sends me a reminder a day before my appointment, how cool is that! The prices are reasonable. Amber is totally down to earth and funny and I highly recommend her. read more
