I've been going to Amber for years for Brazilian waxes since my first one. From the beginning she has always done an amazing job while being a wonderful person to chat with. She even schedules by text and has very kindly bumped my appointments around at the last minute several times when life has gotten hectic on me. Amber's Essential Touch should be called Amber's Amazing Touch! I had never had anything but my eyebrows waxed and wanted to start small (underarms). Where do I turn to find a good waxer? I found Amber on yelp and I am so glad I did. I have lived in San Francisco for nearly a year and have tried so many waxing salons. At last I have found Amber and I can stop looking now. She uses the best wax (flown in from Europe!) and knows what she is doing to make it the least painful experience possible. Amber is very personable and seems very knowledgable about skin care. Her prices are fair and she is easy to schedule with. She is very friendly and creates a nice environment for waxing. That said, the aftermath of my experience is not working out. I get married tomorrow and had my legs, bikini, arms, underarms and brows waxed on Monday. First, I think the wax was too hot because I was burned in several places on my body - I had red welts that crusted over and are flaking dead skin. Including my face! I have awful bumpy rashes all over my arms that I have never had before. She also didn't have much of an order to her waxing. She'd do part of my bikini, then leg, then something else and as a result she missed patches of hair all over. Amber is such a nice person. She makes you feel very comfortable and her salon is not intimidating for first timers like me. She fit me in on a Saturday, when I had contacted her both on a Tuesday and Wednesday (she doesn't answer when with customers). As you know, it was my first time. I got a Brazilian and underarm wax. I would not recommend getting a brazilin wax at Amber's. I tried going to her 3 times. The first time she didn't remove all my hair nor happy trail. I had a strip of hair that wasn't removed and single strands of hair on my lady. She did NOT tweeze the remaining hair. However she did offer me a free clean up, if I returned within a week. I did not return due to my busy schedule. I also felt that's just something she says to pacify you. If her focus were really on customer satisfaction she would have removed the hair that she missed while I was there, not offer me a free clean up. Even though my first experience wasn't great I returned a second time to see if I caught her on a bad day the previous time. On my second visit she greeted me "so what's your complaints". This rubbed me the wrong way. What happen to hello, how's it going? She also missed patches of hair again. Let me back track. She has a deal that if you return in 4 to 5 weeks after your service that your wax will be discounted. However, when it was time for my appointment she texted me a few days before asking if I could reschedule. I told her that was fine. We played phone tag for about 2 weeks before I received my wax. And she charged me regular price even though it was her fault that I didn't come back within the time to receive the discount. Bad customer service. After this time I told myself that I would not be returning because I didn't like the way she does business. she made me feel like she was hustling me. Soo I returned a third time because I was going out of town and couldn't get an appointment anywhere else. This time she also left patches of hair and burned my back door. However this time she did attempt to tweeze the left over hair. That's what she appeared to be doing. However she was just picking at my skin and removed no hair. Needless to say when I returned home I was red in the are that she "tweezed" and bleeding. It is not hard to tweeze hair, I felt like she was just going threw the motion of acting like she was removing my hair. Bad customer service and a bad service. I am now looking for a new wax lady. And another thing, she said that she doesn't like lookin at lady and gets tired of it. Well then why are you in the waxing business? I need someone who loves what they do! read more

Amber is amazing! This was one of the rare times I've been waxed and not been burned by the wax. I had my full legs and eyebrows done, and Amber did an excellent job. As a big woman and a woman with psoriasis I was hesitant to do anything other than my lower legs in the past. In the past, tiny women wielding hot wax on a strip would gruffly order me to contort in all kinds of ways just to have my lower legs waxed. I never thought it was possible to enjoy a wax, but I do. I have a really low pain tolerance, and Amber somehow makes a wax about as painful as a pinch. It's true. I swear. Also, she uses all organic products, so my skin feels amazing afterwards. And she's so fast that she's done in 15 - 20 minutes!
