Update: Raised from 1 star to three. Spoke with the assistant manager. The core of the problem was the cashier/training. If you have an Amazon Prime card you do not need a code. If you do not have a Prime card you need to log into your Amazon account and have the app open when you enter the store. When you do it will give you a code and a URL code to pay.
The store is clean and most of the staff are very friendly. The problem occurred when I was checking out. All my items were scanned and I was waiting for the the card reader change from waiting on cashier to what ever it says to enter my Amazon Prime card. The clerk kept looking at me and finally said I needed to enter my code? I had been at the store two days before and payed with the same card. I asked the clerk what was she talking about. She gave me a muddled explanation about an app. My reply was, so I have to scan my purchases with my phone then come to the check out to pay? She said "ok I have a universal code that I can use this time but in the future you will need a code." I gave up on clarification and decide I would figure it out myself. I looked on line and nothing. Checked the add, also nothing. I called Amazon, first rep did not know what I was talking about nor did anyone in his department. He did mention that my account had been locked. So on to rep number two. She began asking a questions about did I do this did I do that etc. I stopped her and said I have only used this card at two places. Amazon on line and Amazon Fresh. It is a shop card and can only be used at Amazon. I then have to jump through hoops to unlock the card that was locked by Amazon. Three days prior I went to Amazon Fresh purchased $68 worth of stuff, payed with my Amazon Prime Card and left. Because of this transaction Amazon locked my card. So now I am about 45 min into resolving this mess. The second rep has no I about "the code" and transfers me to rep number three. The second rep said she has explained the situation to the third rep so they are already aware. Nope, I have to explain everything to the third rep. This is the 5th or 6th time explaining. Some reps needed more than one. The third rep who is designated to specifically work on Amazon fresh issues, also does not know what I am talking about. I go on hold again then the rep comes back on the line. Her explanation is almost as muddled as the cashiers but I will attempt to define it. In order to get the prime discounts you have to have an app of some sort open on your phone when you enter the store. The stated reason is so they, the store/Amazon knows who you are? I'll not go into the idiocy of the comment. The truth is in order to get the Prime befits you will have to grant Amazon access to the information stored on your phone. Many people are comfortable with this but I do not count myself among them. People in my contacts are not up for sale. Without the Prime benefits shopping at Amazon Fresh isn't worth the effort. They have some good deals but most is eh. I was on the phone for over an hour for this. read more
