The absolute worst grocery store in Northern Virginia. Last three trips, got home, checked the expiry date on frozen goods I bought at this store, only to see items were expired by 2-3 MONTHS. Zero quality control by the store. On top of that, shelves were bare today and employees are not friendly. I'm officially done going here, you should find a better store too. read more

What an excellent first visit to this store. The staff was super friendly and helpful. If you come in, come in with your Amazon prime account. You can use your app to register it when you're checking out and then they will ask you if you'd like to use your same credit card that you use in your Amazon account. So you don't have to pull out your credit card or bank card to make the payment. Pretty bad ass. And they will pack your groceries into the paper bags for you unless you bring your own bag with you. This location has been in the works for several years and finally Amazon Fresh had their grand opening today. A long line began early for those seeking gifts. Totes, gift cards and light bed spreads/blankets were passed out for first 100 in line (possibly less). I haven't been inside one until today. Clean and organized store. However, I find that prices are high especially for the Bailey's Crossroads community. One must have an Amazon prime account to take advantage of discounts but even then prices are still high compared to nearby grocery stores. Although this place is new, clean, and organized on day one, I don't see it being successful with the outrageous pricing. read more

Nice employees. Will applaud the folks who work here. Strange concept. I don't think this will be here too long, although maybe I'm old and curmudgeonly. Have really been an Amazon fan over the years, but maybe they should stick to kindles, and online retail. This grocery store is rather odd. Too tech savvy, but I concede some may like this. What I don't like is the prices. They don't seem interested in competing price wise. Then again Amazon's companies or endeavors, do often start out losing money to gain market share. We've been shopping here since the Grand Opening. Lately though, we're getting more and more frustrated. The sushi bar, hot bar, salad bar, and deli counter have closed down. Less and less products are on the shelves. More and more often they're out of everything we want. The manager says they're having trouble keeping employees. What is going on? 1. This store is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and I love the ease of self checkout. I really enjoyed shopping there when it first opened especially with the awesome deals they offered 2. However in the past 2 months, the inventory is spotty and the app which shows in-store inventory is not accurate. For example, I have gone to the store twice in 2 days to purchase the 365 organic milk after checking the app but both times they were actually out of stock in store. And now I need to go somewhere else to purchase milk. There isn't a direct phone number to the store to talk to a staff member. 3. I did like shopping there because there are healthier options available and they were often at a better price than regular grocery stores. But Amazon Fresh has cut way back on the deals it offers. I have been using this and another retailer more often than the local grocery stores as overall AF's prices are better. Some items though are only a bit less expensive than the grocery store but savings is savings. I don't blame that on AF, I blame that on the current US situation and who's in charge. The store is clean, huge and overall, the selection is very good. More popular items sell out fairly quick but appear to be restocked quickly as well. Some items or brands i prefer to eat, or use are only available at the grocery and I don't hold AF responsible for that. The salad bar looks great and fresh with plenty of items; the pizza is very good and I usually get a slice to take home. My one complaint is when ordering online to pick up an order is they don't offer a bring your own bags option. Although, for the frozen foods, they have the perfect bags for those items. read more

Very convenient for Amazon returns. I also expect people in the area to use this as a pickup point if they're worried about packages getting stolen. Staff is genuinely happy and helpful. Prices are so-so for many things, but good enough that I'll use them in a pinch. I'm also curious about their hot bar options and will try those during the week - definitely attractive for the WFH crowd looking for something new to eat. Don't understand all the complaints about needing Prime for the best prices. If you're using this store you probably already have Prime, plus the stacked coupons if you're using them for pickup or returns ($10 off $40+ or practically a 25% discount) make shopping here cost even less. read more

My first impression after walking all the aisles is unless you're buying a blue-tagged "exclusive" or a sale item, you're paying more than you would elsewhere. If you're not getting the Prime discount, and points on an Amazon credit card, why would you ever come here? The self-checkout carts are clunky, and a pain to maneuver. Maybe the bugs will smooth out, but the self checkout touch screens don't work, so it's impossible to ring produce without assistance. Today, an item didn't ring at the sale price, so I pressed the button for help, and nobody came before the order timed out so I had to go to the one cashier. Basically, besides being able to easily return Amazon items, there's no compelling reason to shop here; prices are overall higher than their competitors, the selection isn't as good, and the checkout system is a nightmare. read more

Last week I went and after waiting in a long line, it was my turn. I asked the cashier if I wanted to make two payments with different cards, and the cashier ignored me, and I had to accept his mistake because otherwise I would have had to wait at least 5 business days for a refund. Today I went back to this same Store #0644 to buy just two items. The line stretched around the entire supermarket, so I approached Abdul with two items to ask him if I could pay for my two items since he was sitting idle. He said no, that I had to wait in line. I waited in line and it took me over 15 minutes to get to the cashier. Meanwhile, I asked the captain, who called himself the manager, if there was an express checkout for items under 7, and I told him about Abdul. This supposed manager told me I had to wait in line and did nothing to resolve my situation. I told them I'd write a review, and they said they'd wait for it, as if they didn't care about customer opinions, that thanks to us, the customers, they have jobs. What a real disappointment. I thought Trader Joe's was about more than quality products, but what's the point of selling good products if your customer service isn't important? read more

People here rating the store only on there prices, but I like it because the employees there are so helpful and friendly plus there's no line and everything there is fresh, every store has higher prices, I like that I just brought a porter house steak for $5.35 because it was about to expire in 2days tell me where you gonna find a deal like that. This store is on its way to greatness. The store is nice and clean and most of the staff are helpful. The prices on many items are great - Ben and Jerry's, for example. The problem is inventory. So many items that I want, and that bring me to the store, are 'temporarily out of stock.' When I come back 3 days later, the items are still out of stock. And just in general, when you look down the aisles, and often in produce, many items are missing. The almost out of date milk from Whole Foods seems to make its way to these shelves. I'm sure all of this will improve, because Amazon is good at fixing things! I am thankful for this store and will continue to be a regular. read more

Prices are outrageous, even higher than Giant, more like Whole Foods but without the Whole Foods gourmet selection. Deceptive practices: BOGO with the price of one item equal to two; fresh salmon advertised at $4.99 with the very small print noting it's a 12 oz package (well, $6.65/lb isn't too bad). Many items substantially higher than other supermarkets and CVS (Tide that's $12-13 in other locations was priced at $17+). And more than half of sale prices are for Prime members only, which limits the customer base. On the first day, shelves were well stocked and aisles were swarming with employees, but there were zero promotional give-aways, and only one tasting sample. With all the competition in this area, I don't think this effort will succeed. read more
