I hired Joey to install doors and baseboards at a new construction job site. He did great at…read moreinstalling the doors. I had Joey measure the doors and the baseboard to ensure he had everything he needed. There was a bathroom door that he said was the wrong size and that he couldn't install. However, I was able to hire someone else to install this exact door. When it came to the baseboards, you could tell he was not experienced in this area. He is unable to make cuts for inner corners and instead smashed the two pieces of baseboards together and had them overlap each other. When I asked him to correct this, he refused to do so and said that is how baseboards are installed and he's never had an issue or complaint with the way he installs baseboards. I asked him if he could make 45 degree cuts and he explained you only do this on outer corners and not inner corners. He said he can go out and caulk them but that I would need to wait till the end of November which is 1.5 months out. And blamed it on "bad communication" because I didn't explain that I wanted the baseboards installed the "other" way and "this is how it got done".I have never seen baseboards installed so poorly and never expected that there was a way where you smash and overlap baseboards. I also brought up how the door trim is pulling away from the wall and he explained that it's because the door trim is not painted. I also brought up how there were small pieces of baseboards missing near the doors. The cuts around the clean outs in the laundry room were also done very poorly leaving very chopped edges. After the back and forth and repeatedly asking if he could go back and fix it he said he didn't feel comfortable because I would "have a problem" with whatever he did. This was after I paid him $5,000+. Subsequently, I made five refund requests, all of which went unanswered as Joey seemed to have vanished. It's important to note that I sought a refund of only half the total amount, as I intended to use the funds to hire a more skilled professional capable of performing proper mitered corner installations. This entire experience is regrettable, reflecting poorly on Joey's integrity and work ethic. It is an unfortunate instance of a contractor failing to take pride in their work and refusing to collaborate in a timely manner to address issues. Danny was the one who pushed me hard to choose Carrara Breeze, insisting it was their most popular install. But the moment I made the initial payment, he disappeared. I later learned from Daniel, the owner, that Danny was in Hawaii on "another job." During installation Day, I raised concerns about my slabs having a brownish tint instead of the clean white Carrara Breeze shown on Arizona Tile's website. Daniel (who had now become my new point of contact) told me that "all Carrara Breeze slabs are different" and that I basically needed to accept what I got. The message was clear: my complaints didn't matter, and I should stop questioning the product. Then came the pricing shock. I later found out from a reliable source that their sale price for Carrara Breeze is around $650 per slab, yet I was charged $2,865 per slab. That's an extreme markup, and at no point was I given transparent pricing or honest guidance. As a woman navigating this process alone, I felt taken advantage of at every turn. The tone shifted the moment payment was made -- suddenly every question was met with defensiveness, blame, or references to "paperwork" instead of actual customer service. I left every interaction feeling unheard, dismissed, and pressured. If you are a single woman or someone without contracting experience, please be cautious. My experience made it clear that this company does not prioritize fairness, transparency, or ethical treatment. Once they have your money, you're on your own. Daniel then stated that with this type of marble, "if you just look at it, it will crack," which is an unacceptable and unprofessional explanation. After reading other negative reviews, it's clear this pattern is common: if something goes wrong, the customer is blamed. We spent over $22,000 and now have not one, but two cracked countertops.
