In my case, the shipper broke the slate and Tony arranged with pooltables.com to get the replacements. Tony gave up to date messages on the status and was easy to work with on scheduling. They have an entire wall of board games, from classics like chess and checkers to new-fangled forms of edutainment such as Cranium. Also, there are a ton of different specialty Monopoly boards (I liked US National Parks Monopoly -- you can buy the Grand Canyon). This would be a cool place to come if you're looking to find a gift for a kid, or to find something to do indoors on snowy winter nights. In addition to complete (compleat?) board games, the Gamester also sells board game parts. Missing a die or a Parcheesi game piece? Need a new one-minute sand timer for Boggle? Looking to find another colorful plastic choo-choo train to replace the one your little nephew swallowed out of the Monopoly Jr. game? They have all that stuff. Also a small selection of non-six-sided dice (d10, d20) for you role-playing dorks out there. We bought a d20 to use in lieu of the alphabet die in a homemade game of Scattergories, and a 3-minute timer for it, too. They also sell thick wads of Monopoly money, if you want to pretend you're stinkin' rich. I love the fact that you can find such random stuff here. Somewhat weirdly, the store also sells tons of whimsical signs you can hang on your wall, which range from "W.C." labels for the bathroom to lengthy pontifications on the state of being Irish. I was a customer of Action Jackson for 5 years. Overall, service was just okay. We had games and a…read morepool table in my establishment and revenues were split 50-50. My biggest complaint was the contract. I purchased the business already up and running from the previous owner. Unbeknownst to me, there was a clause in the contract indicating that the previous owner must get me to sign a new contract with Action Jackson as part of the sale of the business. If I didn't sign, he could have been held responsible for the remainder of the contract. Because of this, this contract was flown by me after the sale and I was encouraged by the previous owner as well as David from Action Jackson to just go ahead and sign this. Too much to read. Just standard stuff you know. And like a fool I did. I should have read the contract more thoroughly before signing. In it you basically sign over the rights for all gaming in your establishment to Action Jackson for a term of 5 years. And they will hold your feet to the fire if you try to replace their service before the term of the contract. I know because I tried to at around year 3. I would just say to anyone reading this review that there are other options out there, other companies that give the same 50-50 split but don't require any contracts or obligations whatsoever. I know this as well because after I kicked Action Jackson to the curb at the end of 5 years, I got on board with another company. No contracts. Nothing to sign. They just drop off the games and they come by every 2 weeks to count the money and give you a 50-50 split in cash. NICE! Isn't that really the way it should be after all? Earn my business by giving me good service and fair pricing. I mean, I understand why cellular companies require a contract, you usually get a phone for free so they have upfront costs they need to recoup. In the case of Action Jackson, I took over games which were already in place in the establishment and had been there for 4 years. Even when they replace equipment or bring new stuff, while it's new to you, it's not new. I don't recall ever getting any brand-new games. It was always refurbished and had been someplace else. Most likely, they already made their money back and then some. They really don't have much as far as monies they've invested that they need to recoup. It's really just locking you into a contract so you can't go elsewhere. I would just say to the owners of Action Jackson. Perhaps it's time that you look at your contract. Stop trying to lock people into a 5 contract. Just give them great service and they will stay with you. Honestly, I don't even think the other part of the contract requiring the new owner to sign as part of the sale is even legal but I didn't want to fight them on it.

I was referred to D&L Billiards by a regional distributor when I was looking for a table for my new home, and D&L had a ton of great options on the floor that I could see in person and try out. They didn't try to push me into paying for something I didn't need; they did they exact opposite, and a year later I absolutely love what they set me up with. They knew what they were talking about, they cared about what I wanted, and they didn't try and oversell me. I somehow spent thousands less than I expected to and got more than I had hoped for. Their install team was flawless, their follow-up and communication on my order was great, and I definitely got my money's worth. The location is a bit tucked away and probably wouldn't be found if you're not looking for it. The place has 6 tables to play on with plenty of space between tables. There's music as well as TV shows on to watch while you play. It's a nice space to play pool that isn't a bar or bowling alley. Cash and card are accepted now and the rates are pretty typical for the Boston area ($15-$18/hr rate per table including service fees). There are small refreshments (drinks and snacks) available for purchase as well, but no full-meal food options. The tables and cues are well maintained and the restrooms are clean. Service is also quick.
