Amavi or Ziva Restaurant: I visited with my fiancée and had very mixed feelings about the experience. The food was excellent, the service was very good, and the cocktails were well-balanced and well prepared. Unfortunately, everything was overshadowed by the music situation. The restaurant has a DJ playing music at an extremely loud, almost unbearable volume that feels completely out of place for an upscale Mediterranean restaurant. Songs by Bad Bunny and Pitbull were blasting at nightclub levels in a restaurant that was not even crowded. The atmosphere became genuinely uncomfortable and made it difficult to enjoy the meal or even have a conversation. Instead of creating an elegant dining experience, the excessive noise made the place feel chaotic and unpleasant. I can't believe this restaurant has the audacity to have this junk. This Mediterranean restaurant and comfort cafe sit side by side in Midtown. More than 20 live flies landed on sweet potatoes inside a container outside the walk-in cooler. Nine flies played in the Heal coffee bar area, "on walls and flying near coffee syrups." Five flies zipped about the office. The inspectors recently found : Throughout the kitchen, ceiling/ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease, dust, or mold-like substance. Disgusting ! A Stop Sale dropped on quinoa that measured 80 degrees on the Heal cookline more than four hours after preparation. It needed to be down to 70 degrees in two hours. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, our experience fell short. Maybe it had something to do with it being Valentine's Day, but things just didn't go right from the start. Our reservation was for 8:15 PM, yet our table wasn't ready when we arrived. We were told they were still waiting for tables to clear, so we ended up waiting at the bar for about 30 minutes. Given the occasion, they were offering a prix fixe menu. To choose from one appetizer and one entrée per person and a dessert. We placed our order, but after a while, I noticed the appetizers were taking quite some time. Before we even got them, our entrées showed up. I mentioned it to our waitress, who apologized and took them back. Minutes later, the same thing happened again....our entrées came out, still no appetizers in sight. At that point, they brought everything out together, the two appetizers and two entrées. I had them take the entrées back because I didn't want my steak getting cold while we ate our starters. When I was finally ready for my steak, it came out well done and burnt looking, even though I had asked for medium. Our waitress agreed it wasn't right and took it back to the kitchen. The replacement was better, but honestly, the whole ordeal had already ruined the experience for me, so I just had it packed to go. Another disappointment was the entertainment. On a night like Valentine's Day, I expected more live music. There was a DJ and a roaming violinist, which was nice, but I know the restaurant usually features a fuller lineup of live performers on weekends..that would've been a better vibe for the evening i feel. Overall, the drinks were good, but between the poor timing, the multiple mix ups, and underwhelming atmosphere, the night just didn't live up to expectations. It's interior is visually stunning, the service rivals most high-end and Michelin-rated restaurants, and the food and presentation is phenomenal. I realize that Miami has thousands of incredible restaurants, and this is one I of them that I'd definitely go to again. 3 of us dined there for an early dinner (maybe 5:30 or 6? Even 7 might be early for Miami folk). We had cocktails and mocktails, incredible warm pita bread with a dip that had walnuts in it, a traditional Greek salad, a yogurt-honey dip, short ribs, mini cakes, and more. Amavi is my current favorite restaurant. It's in the perfect spot in Midtown where there is not a lot of traffic. At night this beautiful restaurant turns into a performative atmosphere with musicians and unique surprises. The food is spot on and flavorful. The team is great as well. This place is absolutely incredible! I came with my wife, my cousin, and his wife, and we were all blown away. Amavi radiates major Tulum energy, paired with a vibrant and beautifully crafted Mediterranean menu. We kicked things off with the burrata, the carrot tarator, and the bluefin tuna crudo--each one light, fresh, and absolutely delicious. For mains, we went with the chicken and steak skewers, both perfectly juicy, along with the tagliatelle and branzino. We shared everything family-style, which was ideal because it let us taste it all. The DJ, the fire cocktails, and the whole vibe had us turning up right at the dinner table. 10/10, hands down. The food was absolutely delicious, and the music really complements the atmosphere. My husband and I came to Midtown for lunch, and since this place wasn't busy, we decided to stop by and indulge in a little bit of everything. The hummus was perfectly portioned as a starter, the octopus was phenomenal, and my husband enjoyed the oysters (we had to request this as it wasn't on the menu since the place had just opened for the day). As for entrees, the lamb chops were seasoned and grilled to perfection, and the salmon was simply incredible. I am most definitely coming back as I was not able to try the drinks due to the bar being closed. I would definitely recommend this place for birthdays and anniversaries. read more

The place is very chic, modern, elegant, and the vibe is great. After making our reservation, we received multiple emails emphasizing the importance of arriving on time and adhering to the dress code, warning that otherwise we could face a penalty or even be denied service. We made sure to arrive promptly and followed the dress code. Surprise number one: while most people did respect the dress code, there were guests wearing shorts and flip-flops. Surprise number two: despite being on time, we had to wait 45 minutes for our table, and no even a complimentary drink or any attention was offered during this long wait. Staying faithful to the Miami concept of a nightclub-restaurant, the music was loud and lively, and there was a central area designated for shows and presentations. Unfortunately, the only entertainment was a repetitive ten-minute fire-dancer performance every 45 minutes or so , which felt underwhelming given the expectation set by the atmosphere. Our server and runners were friendly, polite, and professional, but overall service needs improvement. It seemed unorganized and no proactive. We had to ask for water refills, new cocktails, fresh silverware, oil, and vinaigrette..... At times, two different servers even brought the same items twice, showing a lack of coordination and planning. On the positive side, the food was quite good. The New York steak was lean and perfectly cooked, the short ribs were excellent, and the mafaldini was hearty and delicious. The octopus, however, was on the tougher side, and we could not  try the kofta skewers since they had run out. Portions were decent, and in my opinion, reasonably priced. The drinks were generally good, although some cocktails leaned too much on the syrupy side. Overall, the night was long but enjoyable, and  It deserves another try in the future. read more

I'm really not one to complain, but this place actually made me get on here. As a lover of Lebanese and Mediterranean food, I was very excited to try Amavi because it looks cool. Looking cool was just about all it did. From the second we arrived, there was water falling from the gutter right at the entrance, so you have to duck just to walk in. The food was incredibly subpar. When I tell you the best thing at this place was the fries... that's saying something. The dips were very average; we got the sampler, which was edible. The pita was good, and they give you both hard and soft. I ordered the hanger steak but didn't realize they cover it in this thick red wine sauce that really just ruined a great cut of meat. Ordered the Spanish octopus--big mistake. This was, how do you say... not edible. Imagine one of those miracle-grow tentacles you put in water as a kid. It was chewy and fishier than walking into a fish market. I had to send it back, and since I really love octopus, I was more disappointed than anything. The fingerling potatoes were whatever. The carrots were pretty good. After sending the octopus back, I proceeded to order the kofta and ribeye skewers, because how can you mess that up, right? Well, they did. The kofta came out and was legit the size of my pinky. As for the ribeye skewers, imagine hibachi steak cut into tiny cubes--four of those put on a little stick with some peppers in between. Hard, chewy... I didn't even finish them. Honestly, I'd go to Motek across the street or anywhere else 10 times out of 10 before coming back to this place, I really had high hopes for this place. read more

We went for Valentine's Day, it was unexpectedly overall great! Reservation Mishap I made the res. 3 weeks before, and the night before I get a call and text asking to confirm my res. I texted them confirming yes, and on Valentine's Day I get a text back at 1 pm saying my reservation is successfully canceled. I got upset and texted them that I made this res. a while ago, and they reinstated the res. No Wait Time Unlike other reviews, we luckily had no wait time. We also had a later 10 pm res, so the restaurant was packed but there were still a couple of tables empty. Loud Atmosphere Beautiful restaurant but there was a live DJ so I couldn't really hear anything my boyfriend was saying and vice versa. I don't really love the whole club-restaurant thing in Miami, but it's a personal preference. Food The shining diamond of the evening: the food. I really expected this place to have not the best food, mostly because it's "Instagramable" which tends to accompany restaurants with subpar food, partly because of the prix fixe menu that we didn't know about until we got there, and partly because it was V-Day. My boyfriend and I are picky and only really love a few restaurants in Miami (ex. Sunny's, The Joyce), and most places people rave about we didn't love (ex. Boia De). But this food was really good. We ordered the Mediterranean salad and the beef tartare as apps, and they were both amazing. We literally scraped all the food off the plates. Incredibly fresh vegetables and meat, really good combinations of flavors, just everything really well done. For mains, truffle pasta and short ribs. My boyfriend loves steakhouses and has eaten at some of the best steakhouses and thought this short rib was great! I love pasta and have tried almost every pasta restaurant in Manhattan and I thought the pasta was excellent! Dessert - tiramisu and some chocolate mousse cake with something crunchy underneath. This stuff was crack. Amazing amazing amazing. I am a dessert fiend and am very picky / judgy about desserts. Came with my kettlebell fitness group. I was so in love with how moody the vibe was inside. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We didn't need to ask for a thing. Our drinks were kept full like we had more than one waiter. Our food was out pretty fast. We did get to our reservation before the place got too busy.
