I first discovered this excellent bakery when I first moved to my sweetheart's hometown in the 70's. Everything they make is outstanding and I have been a regular customer locally and from afar for over four decades, it's super quality tasty stuff!! Portuguese immigrants Eliseu & Emanuelina Amaral began baking sweetbread out of their garage and by 1963 they established Amaral's Bakery. They not only provide sweetbread, rolls, and other great products in their Fall Right ver, MA storefront but they're also distributed in regional grocery stores. In adiition they have a very good online service that allows those of us who've relocated out of the area to continue to enjoy their great breads and other products. Bolos and Massa with or without raisins, sliced sweet bread for toast, homemade pound cake, and lemon or plain biscoitos, those are my honey's favorites. Let's talk about bread, I have found since moving away from New England that it's damn near impossible to find good bread, specifically in the south like TN, MS & AL. I supposed I got spolied by living in Portuguese and Italian communities where bread is so central to practically every meal. But I keep thinking, just how hard can it be to make a decent piece of bread? Apparently too hard, but I digress :-) Yes their sweetbread is excellent but I am addicted to their Portuguese rolls! I used to buy them several times a week and sometimes I would get them while they were still HOT! Oh yeah, it's very much like the Krispy Kreme tingly thrill when you get those hot doughnuts. Sooo I used to get friends to FedEx those Portuguese rolls to me in the 90's but these days I simply go to their website and order up several dozen at a time and boom, addiction satisfied :-) Another big advantage is being able to order chourcio (Portuguese sausage) links, patties, etc. and other great stuff like Malasadas and coffee milk. I ordered Raisin Bolos 2 weeks ago for delivery to my home. When the order was delivered, I found that Amarals had sent me Plain Bolos instead of Raisin. I double checked my initial order to make sure that I had ordered raisin, and I did. I then attempted 3 times (3 different days) using their online contact form to inform them of their mistake...to date they have not responded. I guess I won't be ordering online from them in the future. read more

I ordered a massa (sweet bread) and bolos using their online store. UPS messed up the delivery at my end but Amaral's was quick to send out a replacement order which I received in good time. The sweet bread and bolos were delicious - a nice taste of home. Will definitely order again! read more

Incredible and impressive customer service by owner!!! I ordered a dozen Bolos Levedos or Portuguese Sweet Muffins online and paid for expedited delivery. The parcel arrived after 7 days due to a shipping error. I emailed Amaral's Bakery and got an immediate response from Jessica Amaral, offering to replace the order and overnight the parcel. She even included extra items at no charge. There is nothing like Bolos Levedos from Cape Cod; and their is nothing like customer service from Amaral's Bakery. Very well done. Portuguese sweet bread category...... also from Fall River, MA. Have not been to Amarals Bakery, but recently purchased sweet bread buns in the supermarket. Sweetness, taste, appearance and consistency was very very good. I would not hesitate to purchase these again. Taste delicious with or without toasting. Good choice for making an egg omlet on. This bakery is amazing. Friendly, beautiful staff...fast and efficent. Bolos Levedos are amazing...good for sandwiches and toast...it is a Portuguese version of an English muffin. They are known for Argola which come in all sizes and it is sweet bread baked with a whole egg in it. It is popular at Easter time as it represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Wonderful Portuguese sweet bread. It made a huge hit at our wedding! Everyone wanted some to take home, and because the large loaves are enormous, some lucky guests did get to bring some home with them. My order arrived extremely well packaged and in a timely fashion, and the bread was deliciously fresh. I can't imagine ordering this from any other establishment. My husband and I visit family on the Cape, usually every year, and we bring BOLOS home with us after each visit. It is a long way from Cape Cod to Oklahoma, and we sometimes have eaten part of the precious cargo we have brought home. We did not know that we could have these delicious muffins shipped to us, and will be ordering some as soon as we have eaten what we have brought home. We have shared them with our family and friends, who think they are as delicious as we do. The flavor and sweetness is just enough to enhance anything you might have for breakfast, and it is hard not to eat just one. The packaging is well done, and all our cargo made it home is good shape. I put each package in a freezer bag, and they freeze well, not that they are in the freezer very long. So glad we now have a way to enjoy Amaral's Bolos, without having to make a long trip, or have family mail them to us. read more
