Amani is a bit of an experience for people like me who are used to the standard British curry house.
The interior of this place is stunning. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it, and it ends up looking more like a modern European restaurant than an identi-kit Indian joint.
The service is what you would expect from an up-market establishment - professional and attentive.
However, it's the food that sets this place apart. The house menu is not the normal list of madras and jalfrezi. Again, it reads more like a European a la carte menu, with the chef's own take on popular asian dishes. We've been a couple of times and tried a few different things, and all of them have been exquisite. Perfectly cooked, very tasty, really something else.
Whilst the prices in here are higher than most (between £10-14 for a main course) it is well worth it for an occasion.
p.s. there is also a standard Indian-takeaway menu for people who like to stick to their favourites. read more
