I called Amanda for service two weeks ago, we discussed in great detail the amount of cleaning necessary. I even went so far as to send her photos of the work that needed to be done in my 590 sq. ft apartment. I was quoted at $115.00 for services. When she arrived the next day, she told me her estimate had changed and she would be charging $200.00, but said if we helped with the cleaning it would be much less than that. It took her five hours to clean a 3ft by 6 ft kitchen which had 2 loads of dishes to do. Then took her 3 hours to clean a 5ft by 8 ft bathroom. She did two rooms which was advertised on her website which would cost approximately 29.99. We had agreed to hire her for a weekly service which would cost between $40-$50 for upkeep of our entire place, (including the bedroom and livingroom she did not clean). We also had two people helping for over four hours, yet still had to pay her the entire $200.00 for her "services".
Last tuesday she came to do her "job" and did one load of dishes, wiped the surfaces in the kitchen, wiped surfaces in the bathroom, all of which took her less than two hours. While she was in the livingroom I asked her to box up a bookcase (we are getting ready to move) and she shattered the antique glass bookends, less than two feet from my one year old son! Had he been any closer he surely would have been injured! She said she wasn't feeling so well and maybe she would come back later to finish the job, and still charged us $50.00!
After she left i asked her if more than $25.00 an hour is her going rate, and she replied that it is. She said she is not a house CLEANER, but merely a house KEEPER. She stated that she does not pick up children's toys, or do ANY dishes, and its absurd to higher a house keeper to do such things. I explained that her website does not state that she doesn't clean, and that her rates are for a 2,000 sq ft home, and perhaps she should consider changing her pricing since she was clearly falsely advertising. She replied that I was "bullying her". Shes clearly the "victim" after all!
She complains the entire time about how hard her job is, how she is mistreated by her clients, and solicits my friends and family to work for her. To top it off several things have gone missing since her second visit, including an $825.00 ring and a full prescription of medication, which will be handled through the proper authorities!
All in all, i could have paid my babysitter an extra $10.00 to clean my kitchen and bathroom, she was a complete And total waste of money. She also doesn't use green cleaning products, unless pinesol and bleach counts? :-/ read more
