There were a constant stream of people coming in for a variety of services, so it was apparent they do well for themselves. When you check in on Yelp, you get $10 off your service! Mantra is next to target in Jax Beach and this is the snobbiest thing to say but as many times as I saw the place I wouldn't have thought to go to a strip mall salon. But one day I was at target and was chatting with one Mantras employees and ended up making an appointment. Now I won't go anywhere else and I send everyone here that asks about my hair cut and highlights. Ginger is the best for my hair and she patiently tolerates me because I'm always looking to change it up from what she just did 5 weeks ago. So I thank her for her professionalism, advice and friendship. Goes without saying she's freaking hysterical to spend 2 hours with! It's always a fun time there. Her staff is awesome, you don't see turnover like you do at other places. It was also just named one of Jax's top 10 places to work. That says a lot! While I have many complaints, the main one is that I did not like my haircut, and even after I tried to ask the stylist to fix it, I was rushed out looking terrible. My haircut was 14 minutes with no wash/shampoo, no blow dry and no products. I was told that the cut would be dry because of my hair type. My hairstylist was Rita who said that my hair type is best cut with dry hair. I have never had that in the past, but I trusted her experience. However, I was very disappointed that she cut my hair so quickly and then didn't ask me if I liked it, I felt like she was pushing me out the door. I have long hair and asked for many layers, lots of layers that are visible and she did not give me that. I had her add more in and asked her to fix a few things 5/6 times, which she did, but with the attitude that I was bothering her. Her cuts are $75 dollars and that's an unfair price for the experience I got. My next complaint is partly due to the coronavirus but it still left a negative taste in my mouth. I called on Friday for an appointment and was told the salon was finally able to use the blow dryers, but to schedule early in the day because they sometimes ran out of sanitized brushes near the end of the day. I came in for my Saturday appointment and Rita told me that was not the case, no blowdrys. I told her that the receptionist told me differently, and her only response was "oh she knows". Therefore my hair looked extremely sad due to the lack of wash/blow dry and products. Overall, I felt very unwelcomed at this salon. I don't like my hair at all and I don't recommend Rita as a stylist.
