After moving to Illinois I had searched high and low for the perfect place for mini "touchups". After trying out three different places closer to home, and even one AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY, I was left extremely disappointed. And then, I found AMA and Keeley (this was when they still had their Gurnee location). It has now been two amazing years of Botox and Juvederm injections and I have happily followed the team to their Deer Park location. I have never been met with anything but politeness every time I have entered the doors of AMA, and I've never been pushed to "upgrade" as do most places. Keeley is able to pickup the convo from six months and is always extremely personable. I must note, I have never met Dr. Gulcher, but I honestly don't mind. As long as the job is done correctly the first time, and for a reasonable price, who cares who is injecting/lasering your face? AMA has the most reasonable prices for Botox and Juverderm in the area, and are constantly offering monthly specials for different treatments. Bonus is that they will help you set up an account with Brilliant Distinctions to save even more money with qualifying treatments (think loyalty points for cosmetic procedures). I highly recommend AMA, you guys are the best of the best! COVID UPDATE: AMA cares about their clients and getting them in and out as soon as possible. For starters, they request that you email them any promos, coupons or gift cards prior to your appointment to minimize your time inside. You also are no longer allowed to bring a guest/friend/hand squeezing partner. For check in, you remain in your vehicle and call to let them know when you have arrived. Once the waiting room is clear, a receptionist will call and tell you to come in with a mask. Then you are immediately asked to sanitize your hands upon entering, and they check your temperature. There is plexiglass between you and the receptionists, and the pens for the card readers are disinfected after each use. You then answer a quick questionnaire. You then sit in one of the 3 plastic chairs that are appropriately distanced from the others. An assistant then takes you back to a room that is sanitized with state of the art sanitizing machines and finalizes any questions prior to your nurse coming in. Once you are finished, your nurse will call the front to make sure you're not bumping into any other clients. Minimal contact, super easy and extra clean. As for in-store shopping, I am pretty sure they are requesting that you call ahead for your products so that they can pull them for you. read more

I had a fantastic experience at this spa. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They sell a body lotion with retinol that I have been using on my stretch marks. As a response to the owners response--- you guys are using photos STILL of girls who do not work for you anymore, not clients. No one mentioned clients, I said you guys are using pictures of work done by injectors that don't work for you. That's false promotion. You should never promote work by people who aren't working for you anymore. I had a friend book an appointment with her injector , and chose the injector she wanted due to the pictures, and when she pulled up she found out that she no longer worked there and was put with someone else? I came to AMA med spa initially for laser hair removal. It wasn't cheap and I paid a grand total of $3,200 for a full brazilian bikini and full leg laser Treatment. After finishing my laser treatment on my bikini area and 4/8 sessions on my leg I can safely say it was the biggest waste of money spent. Not only was the experience super uncomfortable and painful for me but showed very minimal results. I am still growing a lot of hair in my bikni region even after being told a multitude of time that "it would be so worth it in the end." I am so unhappy with the results that I am not even going to bother finishing the other half of the laser treatments still left on my legs as their is clearly no point of enduring the "pain with no gain." Not to mention that during my time there I went through a total of FOUR different aestheticians. I initially started out with Lauren who I loved. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and truly put me at ease during my sessions. I felt heartbroken when I heard she had left but then met Keeley who was also great!! Well could you guess what happened next? Now I was told Keeley was no longer doing laser hair treatments and i was placed with YET AGAIN a new aesthetician, one whom I was never a huge fan of. & THEN just when I thought matters couldn't get worse I was called to be informed that they closed their office in Gurnee and had moved to Deerfield (45 minutes away from where I live mind you). To be fair they did compensate me with either a few free sessions of botox or a free facial to make up for this inconvenience which was nice, however, when I went to the new location to pick up on my laser treatments I was not a fan of the ONCE AGAIN new aesthetician. I forgot what her name was but she really didn't seem to care at all about me or my concerns and was just trying to get her job done and move on. Needless to say after that I made the decision to never come back. Unfortunately I am out of a lot of money since it is not refundable and i wish I had done a little more research before handing over my debit card so quickly. Live and learn I suppose. P.S. When I missed an appointment due to a PIPE BURSTING IN MY HOUSE I was charged $100. As if they aren't already getting enough of my money.... I didn't have a good experience at this place. The staff was GREAT and super friendly, however.... I went in for a Radiesse treatment and the clinicial did not inject some of the product correctly, leaving a small white bump of product in the corner of my mouth. So as I was trying to fix one problem, they created another unsightly problem for me. For the next nine months, I have to live with this ugly white pimple they created on my lips! It looks awful, and what is worse, I have tried to contact them several times about the issue, and nobody will even respond to me?? This is unacceptable service, and their lack of resolution of communication with me is frustrating. I am very disappointed, because they were so nice before and during the treatment, it's once I walked out the door where they do not care about you anymore. read more

This is the first time that I went to a different facility for fillers and botox. I did my research and Dr. Gulcher got wonderful praise. She is a physician - Northwestern University Medical School trained - and knows the physiology behind what she does. She took her time and explained what she would recommend without being pushy at all. She also took a full hour with me making sure that the fillers went in perfectly. I have never had someone take that kind of time. Tracy, her office manager is wonderful and called to follow up two days later. The staff in general is so pleasant and the environment is lovely. One note, while doing the fillers Dr. Gulcher noted that I would need more filler to make it just right. But as she had already quoted me a price - she threw it in for free, (about 600.00) - I was shocked! I'm so happy to have found this place. read more

Spent $1300 on laser hair removal on my daughter and self, followed their protocol going every 6-8 weeks for 8-10 treatments, when neither of us had any results whatsoever they added treatments for us. 2 years later still so frustrated that there is NO hair reduction whatsoever and was told it is too far out for them to do anything about it. My consultation for coolsculpting left me very optimistic about the place and what I could achieve with their services. After spending nearly $6000 on multiple service appointments, there weren't any real visible results. I went for follow-ups every couple of months like they suggested and even compared to original photos taken, it was clear that nothing much was happening. They told me that it can sometimes take people up to a year to see results while others see them almost within a couple of months. Everyone is different is what I kept getting. After a few more follow-up appts, they decided to give me a couple of more "free" treatment appts to make me happy. They kept repeating that this is never done and that they are doing this because I haven't seen any results - as if they were doing me a favor...Well, here I am 1.5 years after my first appointment and there have been no results. I don't look differently than when I went in. After spending that kind of money and time there, I was expecting at least the 25-50% reduction in results like they mentioned. I would not recommend this place for coolsculpting at all. I chose this place over the others that I went to for consultations because they made me feel comfortable, the place was inviting and the results sounded promising. Instead, I left very disappointed and annoyed that I had wasted that much time and money there. And while I was there disappointed in the lack of results, they tried to get me to think about other treatment plans that they had to offer. I wasn't about to give them even more money for no results...Save your money. Don't go here for this treatment. I doubt if coolsculpting even works. read more
