Edgar from Airmaxx proposed several different options for the best way to add air conditioning to our home. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. They were not the cheapest bid but I was confident they could deliver the quality job I was looking for. Vitaliy and two other installers arrived the morning of the scheduled installation. We walked the job and discussed my expectations. They got started and shortly thereafter Vitaliy came to me with the first problem. The location of one of the ceiling cassette units would not work because of how the roof was framed and the roof pitch. We discussed alternatives and decided on a new location for the cassette unit. The next problem was how to run the line set to the furthest location taking into account the shallow roof pitch and access. After some discussion we came up with an approach. Vitaliy and the crew along with Edgar were able to run the line set to the furthest location. The installation proceeded smoothly until we discovered that one of the condensation drain lines was not working correctly (thank goodness Vitaliy had the foresight to check it before it became a bigger problem). They got the drain line fixed and completed the installation. Before you question why there were "problems" know that any retrofit has potential issues and it is how the contractor addresses them that determines how good the contractor is. I say this having been a high end custom home builder in another state since 1986. Their workmanship was excellent ( lines and items they installed were plumb, level or sloped, and well secured as appropriate). I would not hesitate to recommend Edgar, Vitaliy, and Airmaxx to family and friends.

He told us to call if it happened again, and ideally to record the event, and he would come back and fix it. We did just that, and he ultimately was correct about what the issue was. He installed a new pump to replace the one that failed, cleaned the drain line, and the leak stopped. He was scheduled to come on a Monday but called about noon Saturday and said he could do it then, that his guys were nearby. They were there in 20 minutes and checked the filter which was very clean so they showed me that there was no need to change it. What they did find was a capacitor which was within a couple days of failing according to their measurements. With our very hot days here on the coast, we have been running the A/C all day, so I considered it a divine blessing that they happened to come before it failed. The entire cost was totally reasonable, and they also cleaned the A/C condenser unit very carefully using the least amount of water possible. Texted Steve Moore on a Sunday afternoon, and I get a return text the next morning at 7 am, asking if I'll be around at all. Since I was working remotely that Monday, I confirmed that I would be home, and he was at my place within 2 hours. He took less than 5 minutes to diagnose the issue and informed me that the Covid-era motors that were built for these Rheem compressors were breaking prematurely. Since my system was still under the 10-year warranty, Steve called the supplier, went to pick up the part, and came back later in the day to get the motor swapped out. AC works again perfectly. When he first installed the system four years ago, he provided a three-year warranty on service. Since this was the 4th year, I expected to pay a service charge for the work. Not with Steve; he waived it. You can't beat this type of personal and quick service, and truthfully, Steve is just a really nice fellow to deal with. You call other HVAC companies, and in the middle of a heat wave, they'll find ways to gouge you. Not Steve. He's decent, honest, and has my wholehearted recommendation.
