A great deal, except that the cushions were uncomfortable and the coverings were a cheap-looking red fabric that we really hated. We had refurbished our original Arts & Crafts chairs ourselves some years ago, refinishing the wood and replacing and reupholstering the cushions. We did a pretty good job, too. But that was then. Since that time, the wonderful Foam store in downtown Palo Alto has closed and we had no idea how we'd find the right foam for the cushions without seeing it and feeling it for ourselves. We are also 25 years older than when we did the first four, and much less patient. My husband started with one chair with foam purchased at Michael's but it was all wrong. The foam was too swishy and the newer chairs were a little trickier to recover. We looked into hiring a pro to redo the chair cushions and found Dan's. They were amazing. Beyond amazing. They whole job was done in two days. We took the cushions and the fabric into the shop on Tuesday. By Thursday, all eight chairs (the four new and the four old) were done and looking great. Not only was Dan's super-fast, but they came out and installed the new cushions to make sure they all fit. I bet you think that sounds expensive, but the price was great, especially for the speedy service and home delivery. We had envisioned a long and difficult project of re-doing the chairs ourselves, but instead we are now done with new chair cushions ready for guests we're expecting next week. We are delighted with Dan's Upholstery, and would highly recommend their services.

After making an appointment to…read morelook at fabric samples in their showroom, we were disappointed because we didn't find any appropriate fabrics (end use: upholstery) in the colors of my daughter's room. The man who was on site that day was nice but not helpful. In emailing Dyan later, I wrote that perhaps we should have come when she was there, because she might know the memo books better, and could point us in the right direction to find an upholstery fabric in a lavender or lilac color. Her response was that "Lavender and lilac are not popular in today's fabric industry, but we do have a selection of white upholstery fabrics." First of all, she's wrong. Mills and fabric houses offer plenty of options in lavender, lilac, and other shades of light purple. Just look at Kravet's, Robert Allen's, or any other to-the-trade website. I worked in that industry for 20 years. Second, that wasn't what I asked. I asked for her help, and I was told the color I was seeking wasn't popular and I could try a white fabric. (Of course you have white fabric!) This was not helpful, and to be told that what I was looking for is not popular is borderline rude. Her response put me off so much that I've delayed the project for a year. I'm now beginning the process with another upholstery shop and am reminded of my negative experience with Dyan at Dan's. Maybe if you get a better salesperson, you'll have a better experience. But I'll never recommend Dan's.

There will be customers needing assistants everywhere, broken items in the shelves, and the employees are stuck with a line pilling up. Eva was not only incredible but was doing everything they could. Management is a joke, whoever is suppose to be leading this store is failing. Hire more people, seeing only 3 employees is embarrassing for Michaels as a company. Michael's stores have started receiving more specific supplies that requires employees assistance. And there is none. There should be 5 employees at all times in a craft store that holds so many different unique categories. Disappointing.

Last week, I placed an online order here for items that were listed as in stock on the website and planned to pick them up the next day. Well, I woke up the next day to my order being cancelled, which sucks but it was ok, I thought about going to another location to get these items. But, on the website, it still said these products were available, so I took a chance and drove over to the Redwood Plaza location. When I arrived, I was able to quickly find these products and check out. Unfortunately, the price was different because I was using an online shopping code, but still I did indeed buy these in store after all. I'm leaving this review because as a long time shopper, I'm feeling confused about why this order was cancelled in the first place. I haven't ever used this feature before and it just feels icky that I was able to get the products in store and without the discount I had hoped for online.

I'm…read morenewer to needlepoint and was excited to browse in person, especially since there are only a couple stores in the South Bay/Peninsula. When I asked about a specific canvas, I was told it was not available. I mentioned that the website showed it in stock and had an active add-to-cart option. The response I received was unexpectedly dismissive and in a condescending tone. The woman behind the counter said: "Amazon has trained you to expect things you see online to be in stock," followed by an explanation that their website does not really support online orders, at least not yet. I completely understand that inventory systems and websites don't always match. Had this simply been explained in a straightforward way, I would likely have purchased a different design/kit while I was there. Instead, the interaction felt condescending and uncomfortable enough that I chose not to continue shopping. For a hobby that relies on welcoming and guiding newcomers, tone matters. This was not my first experience with needlepoint, but I can easily see how it could discourage someone just getting started. Because of this experience, I won't be returning. I'd recommend new stitchers seek out another local store where questions are encouraged and customers feel comfortable spending time (and money).
