Dr. Wong is a good doctor. He has been my PCP for many years. I've never had a problem getting an appointment, and when I do get to see him, he is patient and takes his time finding out about my issue, then explains my options whether it be a specialist or whatever. I also find the office staff very friendly, efficient and accommodating. When I call for an appointment, I do get the answering machine, but I always receive a call back promptly. Once at the appointment, I never wait more than 5-10 minutes. I've been very satisfied with Dr. Wong. read more

Dr. Wong is DH's PCP. DH never saw him until his foot started to hurt. He called Dr. Wong's office and left a message in his voicemail (apparently, he doesn't have staff to answer the phone or an answering service?). Dr. Wong never returned DH's call. In the meantime, while waiting for Dr. Wong to call, DH's foot got better. Dr. Wong must not be hurting for business since he never bothered to respond to his patients calls. We're still waiting to hear from you, Dr. Wong but that's ok, DH found another PCP! read more

Since people have asked, I will give very specific examples that happened while I was in his office: Example 1: Me: I don't know why, but I've been very thirsty lately. I have very bad dry mouth. Alvin Wong: Then drink more water Me: But I have problems needing to go to the bathroom all the time if I drink more Alvin Wong: Then drink less water Real problem: I was pre-diabetic. The dry mouth symptom and frequent urination are key symptoms he should know as a doctor Example 2: Me: I've been having problems thinking lately. I feel like I have mental fog Alvin Wong: That's because you're getting old. Real problem: I had a severe food allergy that resulted in brain fog. I was 37 years old when he told me I was getting old Example 3: Me: I need blood tests done. I'm concerned that something's wrong Alvin Wong: No Me: I insist. I want to see my numbers Alvin Wong: No. I refuse to order tests. It's unnecessary Me: I need them. Alvin Wong: No. I will not order them. Real issue: a combination of being pre-diabetic + hyperthyroid. My endocrinologist (who I had to demand to get a referral to) ran the tests for me. Example 4: Me: I've had lower back pain for a while now and don't know what it's about Alvin Wong: well, just rub it once in a while and if the pain gets bad then take an aspirin or tylenol. Real issue: food allergy that was causing inflammation in my lower back. It was the same food allergy that was causing the mental fog. Keep in mind, I've had seen Alvin Wong for many years. Thank god I was relatively healthy. Once I started getting sick, the deficiencies of his medical knowledge could have had serious consequences and damn near killed me (allergies). He frankly just doesn't care. Stay away. He's only a great doctor if you don't get sick OR if you know exactly what you need from the medical system. He has never proactively referred me to a specialist; I had to ask him for every single referral. read more

Whoever gave this MD a 5-star review must be getting paid to do it. This doctor is a piece of work! Don't bother even trying to get him as your PCP. I called Dr. Wong's office because I needed a new MD and I wanted to switch from Hill Physicians to Brown & Toland. According to Dr. Wong's staff, he was accepting patients only through a recommendation. I gave the name of the person who recommended me and they accepted me as a new patient. I promptly made my first appointment in order to meet Dr Wong and give him background on my chronic back pain. Two weeks later, an hour before my scheduled appointment (and after I already got my new insurance cards in the mail) I get a call from Dr Wong's office telling me that he refuses to take me on as a new patient because he "does not treat chronic back pain" and will not give medicine for painand is not a "workers comp" physician. Excuse me? And he just now figured this out? And who the heck mentioned workers comp? Not me, I haven't had a workers comp injury for my back in nearly 15 years. All I wanted was to meet this idiot, not arrange for pain med's!!! And they are going to call me 1 HOUR before my appointment? So this doctor will treat every other ailment under the sun except for back pain?? Are you kidding me? More like he assumed I was looking for a workers comp MD to handle some soon-to-arrive workers comp claim. WTF? Thanks to him and his staff, I have had to switch back to Hill physician and sinc they only make changes at the first of the month...I am literally without a medical group until next month. I sure hope I don't need a doctor over the next few weeks...he totally screwed me on that front. Stay away from this unprofesional office and quack of a doctor. He isn't worth the time spent calling!!! read more

The kind of doctor you want if you might as well ask the barista at y your local coffee joint what's wrong with you. He's a "take two aspirin and call me next year" type of doctor. He took over the practice of my sweetie's doctor, so my sweetie switched over to him. He didn't think anything was a a possible issue. Recurring boils? Some people just get those. Here, have an endless refillable supply of antibiotics and just take them when boils occur. Meaning he was on antibiotics 70% of the time. Later after seeing a "real" doctor, we found out it was MRSA. He was given the correct antibiotics and they cleared right up. There were other health issues that should have been caught and weren't but weren't. But the other reviewer was right on target. All calls go directly to voicemail. If you work in an office in a 9-5 job you can't always respond to personal business. If I need to make a doctors appointment I want to call and make an appointment. Not call and leave a message so they call me back at an inconvenient time. What kind of doctor runs his office like that?! Finally I begged my sweetie to change docs. He did, and now I know when he needs care, he's getting the care he needs! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Wong for a very long time, at least 12 years. Dr. Wong is very personable and always take the time to explain the situation. When he is not sure, he has no problem referring me to a specialist. Also, my jobs requires a lot of written forms signed by Dr. Man and not once have there been a problem Thank you Dr. Wong. He is a very busy man so if it is not urgent, expect the next available appointment date to be in over a month. Also, the other reviews were right, the phone is never answered by the staff. You MUST leave a message. The great thing is that I found it is ALWAYS returned within an hour. read more

I was looking for a primary doctor when my old one passed and I didn't have a physical f or over 10 years. An old Co worker referred me to Dr. Wong. First couple of annual physicals were routine, ask about family history, very detailed. When you get to 50, the first colon exam referral. Guest when you get older, there are more parts that can go wrong, but that was a ok. Had a lingering cold which I did not see him, but called and the referral for OTC meds was right on the spot. Yes, it's leave a voicemail and call back in a few hours by his NP. I like them, still trying to lower my cholesterol, took vitamins before, lowered it, stop taking them, went up. Lost 20 pounds by not eating potatoes, breads and rice, back to eating that stuff, up 20 pounds. Time to start my eating modifications before my next physical. read more
