1. It took them a year to rebuild our thousand-foot square home after a fire. A whole year. Sometimes 2 or 3 weeks would go by before anybody would work on the house. 2. After about 8 or 9 years we began to notice that the foundation was moving, and that the flooring was moving away from the walls, that's when *I went to the county to see who had inspected the foundation. It turns out they did not have the foundation inspected, they didn't even pull permits.* 3. They rushed us back into the home after exactly a year, because the insurance company was not going to pay for us to stay in hotel rooms or temporary housing longer than a year. The outside of the house wasn't caulked, there's trim missing in some places, etc. 4. Certificate of Completion (or Certificate of Substantial Completion) was never produced or signed. 5. I have made contact with the company and tried to solve this issue with the floor. They have refused to make good. Avoid these people like the plague. Even if the insurance company recommends them. They will off take any job thrown at them which results in them spreading themselves so then they are unable to finish the work in a timely manner. I had a water pipe break causing damage to the tile and hardwood flooring in the surrounding area. I called my insurance to start a claim. Joey and Alec from Alvarez Restoration showed up the same day to assess the damage and explain the complete process and set up drying fans. They were very professional and friendly. Our home flooded in our kitchen and dining room. Our insurance State Farm recommended Alvarez restoration. The job started approximately November 1, After Pro Cleane did the demolition. The young man that put the sheet rock and texturing did a very job. The problems that started after that were on going and difficult to say the least. The young man that worked for Empire Floors was when everything became a disaster to deal with. The young man came back at least five or six times and the floors still are not right. There were problems with nails in the floor bad putty color matching. Areas were missing the satin finish. Then we realize there was no finish put under the refrigerator. We called again and had that done which still is partly unfinished. The worst thing was when he came back to do in front of the pantry and fridge and he put gloss on the floor. We mentioned it was awfully shiny and he looked right at us and told him in a week the gloss would go away. He also told us when the floor was finished. We could walk on it within an hour. Not true! He flat lied to us. There were lots of problems with the cabinets the gentleman that did sanding did it right in front of the front door and left the sanding mess there. I had to sweep and then wash it down with a hose They made multiple drawers that were not needed. When paying the final payment, I deducted for the extra drawers and they charged us for our master bedroom that was not done. I deducted from the final bill and they cashed the check. We have a two year guarantee on the work and believe me we will be calling them back. Our worst problem was the young man from Empire Floors. read more

Roberto came in half way into our massive water damaged remodel after the previous project manager before him dropped the ball constantly. Roberto came in with vague information of the project. He tied up all loose ends in a timely manner communicating every single step through completion. He listened to every concern and responded quickly. Phenomenal care and work put into our place. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from this company. One of their employees attempted to run me off the road while driving a company truck. When I called the number listed on the vehicle to report the incident, I was met with a shockingly dismissive response -- "at least no one was injured." We had to replace our front door (natural wood with 9 bevel glass lites) due to water damage. We then decided to replace the 36" door with a 40" door. They did a great, professional tear down and installation and quickly handled minor issues with the new trim around the door. We had damage to our roof, porch awning and gutters during the winter storms of 2022-2023. My insurance company sent Alvarez Construction and Restoration out to assess the damage. While we did not end up using the company (due to us not deciding to re build the awning) the company showed up on time and were quite helpful in assessing damage and explaining the process with us. If I need work done in the future this company will be my first call. I recommend them. read more

I called three weeks ago and asked to have someone come look at a job and give me an estimate. The guy told me someone would get back to me for the estimate within a couple of days. Three weeks later, I haven't heard a word from anyone there. If they can't even be trusted to show up for an estimate, I certainly would not trust them to do any work in a timely or professional manner. read more

Here it is, our toilet flooded in the middle of the night and we had a small issue in our downstairs that required significant restoration. Alvarez and their crew did a fantastic job working with us and our insurance carrier. We would not hesitate to have them back for other home construction/remodeling projects. So apparently we also needed new carpeting upstairs a few weeks later. Carey Aubuchon, Colton Calvary and Boone Calvary came early and stayed late. Thank you. One year ago, tomorrow, our home caught fire.  From the moment we called 911 back then, to this very day, our lives were changed.  And you made it a positive one. The fire department arrived within minutes, and began beating down the flames.  Had it not been for them, the damage would have been far worse.  With them was the chaplain who was kind enough to pray with me, and a whole crew of professional, and compassionate fire fighters.  They brought out to us those things that could be saved from the rear room, the cash we had on the table, an emergency supply of clothing, and a promise to find out how the fire started.  Most memorable to me is their total display of kindness and understanding by bringing out our little girls new sparkly shoes she had picked out to start school in just a few days.  She held them tight to her chest and cried. Our State Farm agent, Josh Elbert, showed up moments after the fire department, and immediately took over communications with them, as I was already in shock and not thinking clearly.  He tried to shield me from the sight of how much damage there was to our home, where I had lived for over 28 years. He made sure we had a place to go for the night, and was on his phone to the company and their contractors right away.  Josh made us feel that things were not hopeless, that we would be taken care of, and that he would be with us every step of the way through rebuild.  And he was. He called in Alvarez Construction, who boarded up the roof for the night while the fire department inspected and investigated all throughout the night. Josh made arrangements the very next day, for us and our dogs, to live in the Comfort Suites; he soon had Service Master and their subcontractor, Vogue Cleaning, scrubbing our clotheing and things we would need.  He'd sat down with us and explained the keeping of receipts for all we encountered, like food and clotheing replacement. He was with us in the next few days, meeting at the house with Alvarez Construction and the State Farm adjustor and Service Master.  Josh always made sure we were included in decisions, and never abandoned us.  For this, we shall be eternally grateful. Alvarez was so incredibly awesome!!  From demolition to final clean up, we never once encountered an employee who didn't take pride in their work.  They asked for our wish list, and made as much of it a reality as possible.  From windows to floors, to finishes and counters; lights and fixtures, cabinets, tub, shower, ceiling fans, a/c and heat, you name it, they made it happen, and we now live in a safe house that is a dream come true. The Fire Department Inspector ended up finding that the fire was due to original wiring that had been stapled through.  It is a sheer miracle that our home had not caught fire like that years and years before. We ended up being housed in what we called 'the mansion' on the other side of Medford, for about 5 1/2 months.  Service Master delivered the items of ours that we requested, and Temporary Accommodations of State Farm supplied all the household items needed to be comfortable, and comparable to our previous life. Not everything has gone perfect, but we definitely learned that it is the people you have in life, not the things, that matters. Don't hire these guys. It is a complete scam. I thought that they would be more efficient at dealing with the insurance companies, since they are used to that, but I would have been better off hiring my own contractor and being the intermediary with the insurance company. Communication was terrible, days and weeks would go by with no work done, they were condescending, patronizing, dishonest, and did shoddy work. At first I was impressed that they have a customer relations person, but then I realized that if they were honest, did good work and showed up when they said they would, they wouldn't need a full time position just trying to make up for the horrible work they do. read more

Alvarez Restoration came highly recommended. They where helpful in arranging for Service Master to come clean up water damage, and were quick to come out to gather information for an estimate. However, after about five weeks and multiple calls, they never got back to me other than twice to say "I promise xxxx will call you back." I understand they are busy and my job was small, but they could at least have called when promised, or say we can't/won't take the job, and not leave a customer hanging. read more

Our experience with Alvarez Construction started after we returned from a vacation to discover a broken water pipe in the wall of our TV room. The flood extended into the kitchen, laundry room and bathroom. We were so fortunate to choose Alvarez Construction to repair the damage. Any unexpected renovation is painful but every member of the Alvarez crew is professional, considerate and patient. We worked with Colt Wells, Project Manager, and cannot say enough great things about him. He kept us informed every step of the way and returned every phone call.
