This is what an Alvarez Modular Home looks like when the roof and skylight is improperly installed. Wet walls and mold (as pics. show) shortly after moving in. Had to hire Mold abatement co. at a cost of 10,000.00 plus other repairs. House still needs to be fixed and mold is coming back. Alvarez agreed to take care of the house, but to date has done nothing. Unless you count sending a kid with a caulk gun. Alvarez & Sons Modular Home co. does not stand behind it's homes. read more

Please do not make to the same mistake I made. Alvarez has their homes manufactured by Simplex Homes and they are the ultimate in poor quality. Weeks after being installed the color on the ends of the plywood bled through the linoleum and I have large red dots on the floor. The factory techs came out, changed the linoleum, just to have it happen again. When Alvarez was setting the house on the foundation, they forgot to un-attach the electrical breaker box from the side of the house and crushed all the wires, subsequently I now have a bunch of junction boxes in my basement. Alvarez set the house "out of square" and tried covering it up with joint compound and silicone. All the wall and ceilings have cracked at the joints. The Workers they sent to fix the problems are sketchy, I think they are part of a "work to release" program. The owner's Brother is arrogant and rude. I could go on and on, but need not say any more. I have seen a lot of modular home and none as poorly built. BTW Simplex is known for building trailers, like those found in trailer parts and there modular are the same quality. read more

Worse Experience ever. First, the quality of Simplex modular homes is the of a mobile home. Because Simplex is a mobile home company. The materials used are the cheapest sub-standard they can find and factory service is worse than Alvarez's service. When Alvarez set my house they forgot to disconnect the breaker box from the outside of the home. Thus, setting the house on the electrical system and crushing all the wires. the house was set out of square. I honestly believe the Alvarez set crew is the "work-to-release program". Every employee I saw carried themselves as is they did time in some penal colony. Alvarez as a company, was the most difficult experience I have ever had in my life. They perform the bare minimum to get through the warranty of the home. I bought my home 7 years ago and the linoleum has all curled up or bubbled up. the sheet rock taping is the worse I have ever seen. The siding cracked in several areas. The counter tops have come unglued and this is only a fraction of what is wrong with this house. The owners are the arrogant A-Holes, Years after the house was set I ran into John A. Alvarez's brother and tried to tell me it was my fault because the house wasn't set right away. But the fact of the matter is the house was sealed, but his employees would stop by and pilfer materials from the home before it was set. Thus exposing the inside to the elements. All I suggest is if you are considering buying a modular home. Avoid the company. I wish I did read more
