Job applicants beware; Alto has ZERO job security. For a single minor fender-bender (no matter if there was no paint traded or anything and damage to the company vehicle and the other vehicle is barely if at all visible) they will terminate you... no second chance, no final warning, no probationary period, not even the courtesy of a Layman's terms reason for the firing, nothing. I've even heard of people being fired for simply accelerating a little too quickly. Because of this reason alone, I cannot recommend even applying for them. You are literally nothing but a number to them, as disposable as a candy wrapper if not moreso and if you don't meet their unreasonably high standards for little more than minimum wage (as an aside, tips are atrocious and only getting lower BTW, before you assume anything this is coming from someone with a 4.99 star rating after several hundreds of trips ALL 5 star ratings except one) or you make even ONE mistake they will get rid of you like it was nothing. If you still want to apply after all of that, good luck, but do know that they are hiring by the dozens every week. All it takes is one small mistake and you're gone. (I know I should do an indeed review instead but they keep rejecting mine even though they don't violate the community guidelines.) As a driver for alto currently Id say do not apply to this company I have reached the status of pilot which means I've done over 3,000 hours with this company I've worked with this company when they were driving the white Buicks and they actually prioritize keeping the car clean in between rides now that we're using Uber's app and we have so many fleet vehicles these cars are not maintained before other drivers get them the staff members are rude they do not care I was in an accident where I got out of the vehicle to get luggage for a person and he opened his door and damaged the car I had nothing to do with that accident and I was still suspended pending and investigation and I had to take a drug test even though I was out of the vehicle when that damaged happened. I also like to keep the car clean in between rides by wiping fingerprints off the cars and cleaning the floorboards I was told not to use any of the company's rags to do so. Basic basically you have to bring your own cleaning supplies to keep the car clean and you better try to find a way to clean the car during your break if there's no way to do it in between rides because they stack up. read more

Gotta give love to my man Eric in LA! Long story short, I left my wallet in his car and he returned it. The story...when we found out I had lost my wallet, I called him the next day and he shared the good news that he had indeed found it! Totally awesome! Then comes the issue, the office never called me to share that a wallet was found, I had to call Eric several times(totally appreciated on his part, but it was out of his hands). I then tried to speak to someone from the phone line, nearly impossible until I hit the sales portion of course. Once I finally reached someone I was told that shipping a lost item was not in their business plan. "But we can give you the address to come pick it up!" ... ummm, I live 8 hours away my friend. I had to find a friend in the area to drive down 45 min to pick it up and get this, throw it in the mail which was right next door! Eric gets a 5 star, Alto admin you get a 1 star! Driver inspector was very hard to understand and unprofessional eating when working and couldn't be understood.

Upon ordering an Uber from Union Station after a trip, we were sent an suv that is owned by Alto. The driver loaded 2 luggage into the trunk and my 3rd luggage was up front near me because it didn't fit in the trunk. My partner and i were exhausted and the driver took advantage of that. When he dropped us off, he unloaded 1 luggage and my partner rolled it a few feet to load into his car. I got off the suv with my own large luggage and the driver drove away before we noticed he didn't give us the 3rd piece of luggage that HE loaded. I immediately called the driver through Uber and it kept going to voice recording and hung up, over and over. I even opted to pay $20 for Uber to have the driver come back and he never returned. His name is COLE and the next day he said he didn't find anything in the car which is a flat out lie. Worst Uber/ALTO experience ever! We are filling a police report. read more

Drivers who want to apply for this job: beware! They will BEG you to schedule your driving assessment and training session. But if/when you're hired, their extremely shady and unprofessional behavior begins. They offer no way to contact your supervisor directly, or their HR representative -- who literally doesn't even have a name, just an email address. And all scheduling and payroll is done on an app. My gut tells me they want 100s of new drivers in their pipeline, but who will never make it to the 3 month mark -- when Alto's "health" benefits kick in, and when drivers get more control of schedule changes etc. They will either find a way to fire you or make you quit out of frustration. And know this: you are basically an Uber driver, except it's using their vehicles. Hourly wages are basically $18 and you do get to keep any tips. read more

I wouldn't even give this company one star rating if I could. I worked for Alto for about 6 months or more. I kept a 99% safety score on their app. Did everything I was told. They immediately fired me without allowing me to explain and understand why they would even fire me in the first place. Managament is horrible and they treat their employees like second class citizens. I always kept quiet when they would argue to their new employees that are simply asking for assistance. I would like to start off by saying that this company has very unprofessional people doing their hiring process. They asked us to schedule a on boarding orientation day that consists of 5 1/2 hours of training. Then they turn around and send you a text message telling you sorry for the inconvenience We need to reschedule your training. You then reschedule your training and they turn around and say something about your background check not being completed and to check your Uber account. Upon checking the Uber it says it was complete. Then you get a rude person from the hiring department contacting you asking what's the problem?, You explained to them that there's nothing wrong with the Uber account. The person that answered the phone was very rude and unprofessional when I was trying to talk, She repeatedly said can I talk? Can I talk? Can I talk ? until I stood quiet and she said thank you in a sarcastic with attitude way. They make it seem like if the people that apply with them are stupid and not capable of working an App. as soon as I told them, I did not want to continue with them because they're very unprofessional within seconds they banned me from the scheduling process. For that they are quick, but for other things, they cannot do their job right. I would never recommend anybody to work for this company. DO NOT USE ALTO!!! And absolutely do NOT purchase any of their "promo deals" they are all scams. Example they are offering an "airport pass" and presenting it as a good deal when actually it overcharges you. I purchased the $90 Dallas Airport pass (and had to pay $16.20 in service fees) when the fares each only cost less about $35. So basically, I overpaid for some pass that was presented as a deal but I think Alto uses it to overcharge people on - it is a scam. Alto is cheating unknowing customers and to me claiming savings when there is none is fraud. I do not recommend using Alto - the tiny complimentary water bottles are not worth being ripped off and lied to. And they have the worst customer service dept. Do not use Alto unless you like to be ripped off. read more

This service got one star only because it exists. I pre-ordered a ride last Wed. night for Thurs morning. The app kept changing my address to incorrect addresses and it took me 6 times to change the address to the correct one after having to cancel it 5 times. The driver was very lovely and competent. I was in downtown L.A. and it was late afternoon when I tried to order a return ride home. I am a senior citizen, a more slight person, and was alone. Each time I ordered a ride, the app started twirling from one address to the next. I tried to confirm the correct pick-up address and it kept asking me to confirm an incorrect address, then I had to cancel the ride and start again. I TRIED 8 TIMES TO GET A RIDE FROM THE CORRECT LOCATION! Then I tried to get a ride from Uber but it wouldn't take my credit card as it already had a charge from Alto. By now it was 5:30 and I had spent 90 mins trying to get a ride. Work people were clearing out of downtown and I was frightened and started to cry. Then something wonderful happened! Two men came out of the building (Wells Fargo Bank Building) and saw me crying. They asked about what happened and when I told them, they offered to take me home as there was a driver ( who was so kind as well) waiting for them. Such kindness is rare. Then I found out that they owned a major building downtown. I don't know if they will read this, but THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. DO NOT USE ALTO! The first time I used Alto I joined as a member and booked a ride to the airport. The driver did not get out of the car to help me put the bags in the car so I asked for help as I had a bad elbow. She gave me attitude. After the ride I called and complained about the service no they said they'd give me a $50 credit. That never happened. I decided to try it again months later and was having trouble prebooking ta ride to the Forum. I spent an hour trying to get someone on the phone and gave up and booked Uber black. I sent an email telling them and they sent me the same directions that was on the app that didn't work. Never again read more

Terrible company. I went in for a driving assessment. After the assessment, you're supposed to go in for another interview on the same day and fill out some paperwork. The driver who assisted me with the assessment instead told me to go home and that Alto would contact me within 24 hours to tell me the next steps that I need to take. I should have known that the driver wasn't telling me the truth and was preventing me from proceeding with my interview and it was my mistake for not going back inside of the office to confirm. But I asked the driver many questions about the company due to the fact that they already have terrible reviews. Many people who have worked for Alto have stated that they receive terrible pay, no tips, and that the management treats them unprofessionally. The scheduling is inconsistent. They will at first make it seem like they will give you all of your hours, and then start cutting them over the course of time. The entire environment is basically slave labor and they continue to hire new people because so many people quit. I went back the next day after my driving assessment to speak to someone in person about the hiring process and how I felt I was deceived and lied to. His name was BP, who is the operations manager at the Los Angeles location. He, of course, defended his driver and tried to make it seem like I was wrong and that I didn't know what I was talking about. He went on to say that the hiring process might take longer than stated in the emails because they don't have enough staff available and or they have too many people. The amount of people in that room was equivalent to the same amount of people present the day I did the driving assessment. So BP was basically lying because why would he be honest about how terrible the company is. He also didn't seem too concerned about what I had to say and was trying to rush me out of the building. They don't want people to be assertive or honest. They want you to bend over backwards and take whatever they give you. I know I didn't get the job because I was asking too many questions regarding the company and how it's ran. I'm not stupid, and I know what I deserve. If you want to be treated badly, get terrible pay, be disrespected, micromanaged, and ignored, then this is the job for you. But if you have any self respect, walk away. Just walk away. I went to do a driver assessment and all I did was drive and park. It went smoothly. I am a professional driver and have driven for years with a Class A and Passengers and have driven anything from Charter Buses to semi trucks. And have driven for many companies. But this company sends me an email saying I didn't pass the driving assessment after a week of hearing nothing. And didn't tell me anything else. I feel like it was something else because they didn't have all my information. Not even asked for my driver's license. I will not ever apply again or use their service outside. read more

As a travel consultant, my standard is high for a personal car service - not Lyft or Uber. When I started my membership w/Alto, I had no issues. Drivers were on time and cars were clean. From my home it wasn't an issue. However a huge issue from LAX. Their app does not allow for inputting flight information which is just a horrible omission for an airport pick-up service. I continued to use them since I didn't have to go to that horrible lot for taxis, Uber and Lyft. But as of today, I got an email saying they are stopping their LA and MIA service and partnering with Uber. whatever that means. They did offer prorated refund for my yearly membership.... we'll see. the comments on their customer service are spot on - It's an oxymoron for them as they have no customer service. And I noticed their rates kept creeping up. Employee turnover was outrageous. I always questioned the driver as to how long they worked for them. No one over a year and mostly just weeks or months. Even a few "first day" with no knowledge of airport driving. So, all the folks that added low reviews, there is a decent outcome as they have taken their service (according to the email) out of LA and MIA. read more

Today was my first time using Alto. Franchell met me right on time with a smile, she opened my door and was very pleasant and professional, not to mention a very good driver. She smoothly took me from home to the car dealership in L.A. traffic in a clean and fresh car. I was so pleased I gave her a generous tip. Without a doubt, I'll re-use Alto and recommend this car service over Uber for sure. It was a great experience, I really suggest you try it. read more

For two weeks in a row, we have ordered a Alto rideshare service to a restaurant in Dallas. Aside from being very expensive, it was a good service: the car was very clean and the driver was pleasant and a safe driver. On both occasions we were completely unable to contact Alto for a return trip: we were not sent a code via text even when we asked for it to be resent, nor could we get a response via email. On both occasions we had to get another ride-service which was about half the price. Very desapppointing! read more

I specifically put down I was seeking a part time job only, however I heard they are seeking full time drivers only. Driver arrived 15 minutes later than what they stated, didn't say a word from pick up to drop off, and best of all didn't lift a pinkie to help us with our luggage. I found that rather extraordinary for a company that claims to be so user-friendly and employee driven. Very bad customer experience. Do NOT apply for a driver's position for this company if you have real bills to pay and have a life. This company expects you to roll out the red carpet treatment for their consumers, and the majority of them are very wealthy but frugal, and Alto only pays its drivers minimum wage, NOT $19hr. as they LIE about everything on their websites. They tell you they need full-time employees and then schedule you for 7hrs or less each day you work so they don't have to pay you a 40hr. work week or any overtime. They encourage their riders to NOT tip the drivers, making them believe that they pay a certain percentage of fairs towards tips, which they DON'T and NEVER will. You get excessive, unnecessary texts all day, every day, even on your off days about extra shifts needing to be covered because they can't keep employees to slave for this greedy company. I worked for them about 7 weeks and quit because I know that my work ethic is worth way more than $16.25hr and their turn over rate for employees will continue to rise because of all the young clueless poor training personnel/management. Wasting time and money on stupid things and not allowing tips for drivers will definitely bankrupt this company right out of business in less than 5 years guaranteed. read more

I had an even worse experience at LAX with Alto than Andre. Started off promising, made contact with driver, said they were on their way from the nearby In N Out Burger, app showed him about the enter the airport, then unexpectedly turning away and another driver who was assigned who went to a different part of the airport. We had texted our location to the initial driver who acknowledged it. An hour later, still no driver. Walked over to the taxi stand and had a ride within five minutes that was a good experience. On top of that we had another negative experience with Alto, also from LAX late last year, so this is clearly a pattern and not an anomaly. That driver for reasons unknown sat for 15 minutes on the other side of the airport before driving around the loop to pick us up. Then took a circuitous route to where we live that added another 15 minutes. Never riding with them again nor would I advise anyone else to. More expensive than other options on top of the awful service, basically adding insult to injury. read more

Alto is not that great for drivers since the hours suck and it's very easy to get fired. The SUVs they drive are meh..You're monitored and critiqued at all times. You're also treated like a car detailer since they don't use a car wash. It's not that cheap for riders, like a business expensive or a ride paid by a company so don't expect a lot of tips. The hiring process is long and can waste your time if you're looking for more dependable employment. the supervisors and management can be a bit testy or defensive. I can see where the company was going with this - offer a better experience than ride sharing in someone's car but unfortunately the driver gets the short end of the stick like being a McDonalds em on wheels. read more
