I am BLOWN AWAY by this amazing service center and can understand why they have earned a perfect 5 star review. I have an older 2013 Nissan Leaf which had a dead AC among other issues like broken windshield wiper. They made me an appointment online and saw me pretty quickly. I was in shock as to how personal the service was -- small place, very professional. They diagnosed the problem immediately, got the factory part the SAME DAY, and had the car finished by mid afternoon. Having recently moved from the Bay Area, I was sad to leave a very reliable and honest shop that specialized in Hybrids. I had overpriced and underwhelming encounters with another SaMo auto repair shop. In that context, when my low beam headlight gave way, I decided to shop around. Car Nerds was my first call. Matt answered on the first ring and give me a reasonable quote. He confirmed I can drop in same day and get my car within an hour. Getting 2 low beam bulbs replaced for under $99 is a deal. They also had a SaMo resident special. I called another shop and got a quote that was 2X the quote, and that too they said was an estimate. Talk about price gouging. I had done my research and knew exactly what the parts would cost, how much time it would take to replace it and what exactly they would be doing. I wanted a third quote, but got to the voicemail of 2 other shops. I confirmed online that a reasonable quote is under $100, including parts, labor, taxes. Car Nerds is honest, reliable, fast and no BS. They did not try to upsell me, or change their estimate. Matt was a class act, very cordial and patiently answered my questions about maintenance services. You cannot do better than Car Nerds. Solid shop. HONEST - and believe me, having burned myself a couple times, this is a big deal. They have easy appointment availability, wifi, coffee, courtesy shuttle, relationships with local car rental companies if you need one. (I'm cursing on purpose) My Story: My car wouldn't start. * I went from Midas: $1000 spent fixing a part that wasn't the issue & wasted a tow-- * to Ford SM dealership: hundreds spent on a rental for almost two weeks, wasted another tow, they didn't look at the part that I suggested which was ultimately the issue. I walked away after almost two weeks with no diagnosis. And the front office wouldn't even help to oblige my request to help me bump start my car (I drive a manual for those that understand this simple request) (p.s. the actual mechanics there are f***ing absolutely amazing humans) -- * to Car Nerds: Less than 24 hrs. Charged me just $200, parts and labor. I turned my car over to them end of day Friday, they had it diagnosed by Saturday morning and completely operational by Saturday afternoon. They worked on it and let me pick it up on a day they were closed for business. This place is family owned and they act like it. I requested they round UP my total cost and chose to pay more, because the service deserved a tip, especially after all I had gone through. I pledged to always take my car here. I replaced my battery a month ago at TESLA and my car alerted that I needed a new battery. Immediately I thought it was a defective battery but Tesla wouldn't confirm until I paid $165 just for the diagnosis. I showed up at car nerds with no appointment and Ronnie immediately took care of me. Turns out Tesla didn't complete the installation of my battery. Ronnie thoroughly explained and showed me what was previously done wrong and fixed the issue. He sent me on my way without letting me pay. I feel as if I need to rewrite this review. I initially removed this out of courtesy to the CarNerds guys as this may have been an honest mistake, but I'm rewriting this to set the record straight. These guys are nice and friendly but they misdiagnosed my Lexus ES 350s problem. I called them asking if they could examine my car for a noise that is created during turns and going over bumps on the road. They said the first hour was free for examination even though I was willing to pay for them to figure out what was the actual issue. They call me back and say it was the struts causing the noise and it would cost me close to 2k to fix it. I went back in and they said there may be more problems when they go and take it up the lift and find something else. This was the biggest red flag for me. They never took it up the lift and did not give me full confidence that it was actually the struts that were the problem. Following my gut feeling, I took my car to multiple places and while some could not figure out the issue, all of them did take it up the lift to examine it and assured me it was not the struts. I finally found a Lexus specific mechanic that figured out the problem, which was the package tray making noise as I go through bumps. This was completely unrelated to the struts and cost me less than $500 to fix. read more

At a routine oil change in May, a different car service station recommended I replace my Toyota's valve cover gasket and the radiator. The radiator was leaking, they said. I went to Car Nerds for a second opinion. The valve cover gasket was replaced, but the radiator was not. There is no leak. Car Nerds saved me $800+ replacing something that wasn't broken. I had it towed to Car Nerds and within 20 minutes they called me saying it's fixed at no charge. (!!!!!!!) I waited WEEKS and spent thousands for this same repair at a dealership. Car Nerds even showed me how to flip the switch on the hybrid battery myself in case it happens again. NO MORE STEALERSHIP VISITS!
