I've been using John and the fellas at Complete Automotive for over 26 years, and I've never been disappointed. I used to live around the corner - now I live 45 minutes away and I STILL take my car there because they have continued to be the most honest and forthright mechanic I've ever met. John is a straight shooter, they will never try to sell you on something you don't need. I left there once with a super quick "band-aid" fix on my car in order to get to work on time at NO CHARGE! John said, "come back when you have time and we'll fix this correctly". But it let me get to work which was the priority. This is when I realized they actually cared about my situation, (at the time, no money and desperate to get to work), and I've never looked back. I've read some of these 1 star reviews here and I couldn't disagree with them more. I feel like I have to apologize to those people personally because I feel so strongly about recommending Complete Automotive to everyone I meet. I would even say "tell them Paul sent you!" John will know who you mean. They charge appropriately for their services, but the work is worth it. Most of their techs have been working there as long as they've been open, over 28 years, which is a credit to the integrity of the business. My most recent trip there, I went in a for typical oil change, and John noticed a couple things to consider, (valve cover leak, busted engine mounts), but not to worry about it until really needing to. I have an extended warranty on my car and these repairs were fully covered. Plus, John gave me a loaner car while mine was in the shop, at NO CHARGE. Who does that? Complete Automotive does. My experience here was ok, but barely. I came in seeking a new water pump for my BMW after the dealer found a leak/corrosion but wanted to charge me $2,400. The hours and customer service reps are helpful and presentable and approachable and smart. No pressure applied. However, I was advised to get a coolant pressure test to "double check" the dealer. At the end, it just confirmed the dealership, so a whole day wasted. But what's worse: the price was the exact same as the dealership, $2,400! What's the point? They tried to convince me that the housing needed to be changed, not just the pump, but I was skeptical at that point. Further, I told them that a new accoustic panel was needed (again per dealership advise), but they did not find where it was missing (it was). Finally, oil change was $300, which is not the market price. read more

I tried to come here in 2024, but their smog check machine was needing repair & calibration. No biggie. I took their biz card/email info for another time. They wrote me back a couple of days later, but I had already gone elsewhere. This time, I make an appt with more than 1 month notice for today Jan 6th at 4pm. I love being able to email, book an appt in advance, and just show up vs calling around a ton of places or just having to show up and drive to 4-5 places in a day. Most places do not do email or take advance appts. I get a confirmation email the day before & I click yes to confirm and that I will be there. I interrupt my day to drive over there today & they see me right away. No wait. One other person was there before me, but she was already helped and was just standing and waiting. They seem to NOT have an indoor waiting area with seats. They do have an outdoor table/chair/picnic table type set up, but it's cold today. At first they don't see me in the system, then ask/ think I am someone else/a guy's name, and I state I have an appt, and I confd it via the email reminder yesterday. They do find my appt. I am told at first the smog check guy is at a doctor's appt and he left at 3pm, but other staff are trained so no problem my car will be serviced. A few minutes later I am told that the junior guy isn't comfortable doing it so could I come back tomorrow or another day. I mentioned I couldn't come back tomorrow. (I carved out the time to take care of this today, which is why I made an appt a month ago.) Why wasn't this issue caught a lot earlier in the week or at the very least at 3pm today when the senior tech left, an entire hour before my appt so I didn't drive over for nothing? Are the staff leaving for doctor's appts not checked against which services/appts they are handling/assigned? Sigh... It would have helped if they very profusely apologized for the oversight, or offered a small discount, etc. I ended up going to this place on Venice that I remembered I had been to before like 3x, but seemed to be closed during COVID. That place I had first gone to 9 years ago and like before I was done in 15 min vs 1 hr to 90 min. So I will just keep going there even tho you can only show up/call vs email and make appts. read more

I had a long road trip ahead of me and needed to replace the drive belt in my car. Looked around the area for estimates. CAS quoted a fair price which was great (maybe $20 more than some other estimates, which seems negligible to me). But the simple, up-front, and friendly experience with Jack was really what I appreciated. I got a clear itemized estimate online to look over. There was no guess-work, no "well, I can't tell you how much it'll be 'til I look at it myself," and no magical discovery of other, more expensive problems after it was up on the lift. My experience with mechanics in LA has been hot-and-cold -- some great folks, and some whose business models clearly count on their customers' lack of knowledge. CAS, in my experience, is definitely in the former category, and the relief that comes from finding a mechanic you can trust is immeasurable. I would go back to CAS again for routine maintenance, repairs, etc. without any hesitation. read more

I was actually headed to Valvoline as I had some time to get a smog check for my mom. I drove to the Valvoline to see if they perform smog checks and unfortunately the one on National does not. However, I saw the "smog check" sign next door at Complete Automotive Systems. I found this place randomly and I'm so glad I did! I was greeted and assisted by John who informed me that they can take walk-ins and that it would take about an hour to complete my smog check. Quickly and easily took down my information and directed me to the waiting room. The waiting room had a coach and a TV. I don't think I waited an hour...probably closer to half an hour before they came to get me. If you pay with credit card, there is a fee of 3%. However, if you pay with Venmo, cash or Zelle, there is no fee. Pretty easy. They even e-mailed me my receipt and report. The whole process was great and I'm glad I came across Complete Automotive Systems. I highly recommend. read more

I've been taking in my Kia Niro to these guys for about a year now and I am super happy with their service! They don't take appointments, but the place is a mile away from my work, I drop it off in the morning, and then pick it up after work. Bob & the rest of the staff are very friendly, competent honest and charge much cheaper than the dealership. They tell me about issues that come up in their routine inspection and give me their sincere opinion about if it needs to be done immediately or can wait. read more

Bob and John helped me out they went over everything in detail, gave me a full rundown of my Jeep Wrangler's suspension and bushings, and just kept it real about what was going on with my car. If you would like to be treated well AND have your vehicle serviced properly, DO NOT go here. John Abdelmalak, the owner of Complete Automotive Systems, is a dishonest scammer and just wants your money without fixing your issue. My vehicle was taken to his store with a promise of a proper diagnosis to fix my A/C, which wasn't working. I have given him 3 chances and payment of over $1,885, with it still NOT working. NOW he wants another $707 to fix it. First it was a sensor issue, next it's a freon leak, then it's both of the Schrader valve cores that need to be replaced and now it's a flush that needs to be done. It's clearly obvious he has NO clue what's wrong with my a/c and is grabbing straws, cheating me along the way. The last time he "fixed it" he once again, gave it back to me not working, while lying to me to my face saying it was, once again, "fixed". It's WORSE now than when I brought it in this third time! Now there's a fourth issue and he says, oh yeah well you might have another problem, "it's going to be another $707". John is a total snake oil salesman, liar, cheater and scammer. Do NOT go here as I don't want anyone else to have such an upsetting experience. NOW I have to take it to dealer and get a proper diagnosis, which is $300 and then the cost of getting it properly fixed. I'm out almost $2k, and its's still NOT fixed. I would love to keep this one a secret but John and his guys are the absolute BEST! I took my Audi Q3 that had a check engine light on and he took me in the same day. I had been hesitant to take my car to a mechanic since I am a young female with a problematic and expensive car so I have trust issues with mechanics upselling me, but John was super honest about what I needed and didn't need. He worked with my warranty to cover most of my repairs and was very communicative throughout the whole process keeping me updated everyday. I had the pleasure of working with Gore who was incredibly resourceful and pointed out the issues that I had with my car may be covered under my warranty. I had to take my X5 in because I was in need of new tires and aliment. I'd previously took it to BMW to try and get it replaced but it was waaayy over priced. So I gave Complete a call and spoke with Jon and he found Continental tires for $$$ less than BMW, so it was a no brainer. I used the savings to have other services done. This isn't the first time they saved me from a big hill. They got the tires deliver to the shop within 24 hours of speaking with him. When I arrived, Gore and Jack greeted me right away and assisted me. Apparently Jon had called to let them know I was going in and had everything ready to go. I left like a VIP. My battery died this morning, a Saturday - ugh, and after AAA gave me a jump, I did what most of us do, I checked Yelp for what was nearby and had good reviews. So very glad I did as it brought me to CAS. Everyone I encountered here was beyond friendly and incredibly helpful - I was helped by Bob and another gentleman in the office (I'm kicking myself for not getting his name). I showed up two hours before their weekend closing time and they fit me in. They even did a quick once over to make sure everything else looked okay and made a suggestion or two. They answered my questions simply and clearly. While there, another customer brought the staff & mechanics homemade brownies as a thank you. Who does that these days? It's April 2024 and my water pump has gone out. 11/2021 I had CAS do a timing belt replacement job and came to find out after calling in yesterday, 4/30/24, to go over what was replaced that the water pump was not replaced with the timing belt. Generally, that's why the timing belt kit comes with a water pump. IDK why they didn't do the water pump at the same time, but that's a recommended practice I've come to find out. Now, I've done other work with them since and that has been exemplary. read more

So I've lived for years in Glendale and had a trusted mechanic up there... but I recently relocated to Palms and no sooner did that happen did my my check engine light start flashing and my car was having issues steering correctly. I did a cursory look on Yelp and fortunately CAS was close and well reviewed. Nick was my point of contact. He was friendly and helpful and talked through potential costs and what would be done.
