The new owner is very short and seems to have an attitude. I would not recommend. Customer service is not a priority here anymore

I am the owner of the shop. This first review where she said I made her jumper too short ,it was 2 inches too short and she failed to mention that she went and bought a dress the next day and I paid 420 dollars for the dress and hemmed it over night and we didn't charge her. I wouldn't go back to Alterations Plus if they were the last alterations/sewing needs place availabIe. I used them for a simple hem for a very important day.. I went to pick it up on the Tuesday before the Saturday wedding and they had ruined my floor length jumper (they insisted it was meant to be worn floor length) by making it a Capri length jumper. The owner was kind during my breakdown and told me to stop worrying bc she was going to make it right. We tried several avenues, but nothing could be shipped on time. So I had to buy something (ANYTHING, really) in a day and a half. I already had other things scheduled for those days. This was completely devastating...the owner told me not to worry, let her do the worrying and she'd buy me a new dress. This alone caused me a lot of angst. This is not an easy task, most bridal places only have 1 size in a dress bc they're essentially samples for ppl to try on and order. I found one dress in my exact size that would work. The owner, Kathy, didn't like the price of the new dress, but what she didn't take into consideration is that I had to buy new shoes, jewelry, etc. My jumper was $150 And I paid her $80 for a hem and two stiches sewing in bra cups to RUIN my beloved jumper (which she kept...btw) She reluctantly bought the dress. I went to go get new shoes so the hem would be correct and Dayna (daughter of owner or perhaps co-owner, IDK, IDC) pinned up the hem and we realized the zipper had become detached from the fabric. Dayna assured me that would be any easy fix and would be prepared when I picked up the dress. It was not. And the owner's eyes were red when I walked in her shop and she wouldn't make eye contact with me. She was angry with me I suppose, although I'm not sure why. She didn't start saying derogatory things until I got in the dressing room And the liner was hanging out from underneath the dress about 2 or 3' in length and wildly different widths ranging from 1/2" to 3". The owner was so rude to me and after messing up two dresses now, I couldn't in good faith leave that dress there. I went to The Something Blue Shoppe and their team there took charge and took care of me. Emily Kyker and TJ (mgr) were absolute rock stars! TJ ran my debacle of a dress down 2 doors and their seamstress did the best she could to fix Alterations Plus' mistakes.They wanted to know what place of business would do such shoddy work. The hem was rolled in places. It looked like a 2 yo did it. So the night before the wedding, I had to cut the liner with scissors and singe the ends so they wouldn't fray during the wedding. I didn't let this ruin one of the best days of my life, but I don't want ANYONE to ever go through what I did with Alterations Plus. I did EVERYTHING she told me to do, then she got ugly with ME bc of her BIG mistake! Thank God it wasn't the bride. Stitchez, Alter Ego, The Something Blue Shoppe all do great work. I took some new work pants, a pair or coveralls to be hemmed and a shirt to have a stitch that came loose fixed and was greeted by Kathy the owner and made to feel at home. Kathy asked when I wanted everything back and I left it up to her. I was unable to pick everything up on the day Kathy had them ready and she gave me a courtesy call to check up with me and make sure I didn't forget about my things. The hemming looked just as they do buying them right off the shelf at the store. The quality and craftsmanship of Kathy's work is top quality. I highly recommend Kathy and her staff at Alterations Plus for your sewing, mending, and alteration needs. read more
