When I finally found "the one" it was at the absolute top of my budget and still needed number of alterations to make it my dream dress. Ling story short I was able to find the dress for much less than at the store but between the original size of the gown and losing more weight for the wedding than I originally planned, I ended up with a dress that was easily 4 sizes too big and still needed work to to change some of the dress to the ideal state. Not only did they hem my wedding dress, they brought it in so it fit perfectly and they added sleeves - exactly as I wanted. They allowed me to come in for fittings as needed and made sure my dress fit like a dream. I also needed a dress tailored for our wedding dance which included adding a split so I could lunge, hemming it to remove the train, bringing it in and adding sleeves. They nailed it!! They were so awesome that I ended up having three other dresses altered in addition to my wedding dresses. Now let's talk cost. The value was SO REASONABLE! The shop where I purchased my dress wanted to charge me triple what I paid at Abel De Valente. So glad I stumbled on this mom-and-pop, family-owned shop! I've had some places deny what I wanted done to a dress because they said it wouldn't be possible, so I was afraid that was going to happen. I've also had some bad experiences at other places as well. I brought my dress into J's Tailoring and didn't even think I would be able to have my dress altered only 2 and a half weeks away from the wedding. However, Jolanta made that possible and I was incredibly pleased with her work. I am someone who is fairly particular with how I like things to fit on me and Jolanta was very honest and I trusted her opinions. I came in for a second fitting 2 weeks later and I was already amazed at the work she had done and only needed minor adjustments. When I came back to pick up the dress right before the wedding I chose not to try it on there because I was in somewhat of a hurry and when I tried it on at home it fit absolutely perfectly. I thought that the price was fairly reasonable considering how much I did have done to the dress. I will definitely come back to J's Tailoring for any other special occasion I have in the future!

Luis was incredibly thorough - he made sure that after I tried on each item of clothing and agreed on where to take in, that I was comfortable with the new sizing. He discussed the pricing on each garment UP FRONT and had all 7 items ready for me within a week (corduroy blazer from boden, tartan skirt from saint & sophia, number of jeans from j. crew/banana republic etc). When I came to pick them up, I tried every item on and they fit as expected! I was so delighted with the work that I just returned from my second drop off of 5 pairs of jeans, corduroy holiday pants and a dress. If you come to Luis (owner of Mike's Custom) you will have the chance to try on your items, talk through the alterations, discuss the pricing on each item and then show up within a week to pick up!
