When I finally found "the one" it was at the absolute top of my budget and still needed number of alterations to make it my dream dress. Ling story short I was able to find the dress for much less than at the store but between the original size of the gown and losing more weight for the wedding than I originally planned, I ended up with a dress that was easily 4 sizes too big and still needed work to to change some of the dress to the ideal state. Linda made it all happen!!! From making it fit like a dream to lining it just the way I asked to bustling it and my veil to perfection, she did it ALL. Not only did they hem my wedding dress, they brought it in so it fit perfectly and they added sleeves - exactly as I wanted. They allowed me to come in for fittings as needed and made sure my dress fit like a dream. I also needed a dress tailored for our wedding dance which included adding a split so I could lunge, hemming it to remove the train, bringing it in and adding sleeves. They nailed it!! They were so awesome that I ended up having three other dresses altered in addition to my wedding dresses. Now let's talk cost. The value was SO REASONABLE! The shop where I purchased my dress wanted to charge me triple what I paid at Abel De Valente. So glad I stumbled on this mom-and-pop, family-owned shop! Horatio is the tailor and very exact when pinning and measuring. There was no rush as I tried on all 11 articles of clothing I had brought in for some type of alteration. A variety of machines made me confident that whatever kind of stitch was required ~ it would be done correctly. Horatio reviews every item with you, the work necessary, and the price 50% deposit was required but credit cards are accepted. Sooooooooooooooooooo, when will 11 articles of clothing be ready for pick-up? 2 to 3 days ~ I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I arrived on Tuesday (so a day later than they were due) to be told they're not done yet. What's so frustrating about this experience is that my contact information is on the ticket. All she had to do was give me a call and let me know she was running late, but instead, she allowed me to waste my time driving there to leave empty handed and having to return. There are several reviews citing the exact same experience I had, so proceed with caution if you choose to come here. I have to get a lot of my clothing tailored, but won't be returning. It's not worth the hassle.

Luis was incredibly thorough - he made sure that after I tried on each item of clothing and agreed on where to take in, that I was comfortable with the new sizing. He discussed the pricing on each garment UP FRONT and had all 7 items ready for me within a week (corduroy blazer from boden, tartan skirt from saint & sophia, number of jeans from j. crew/banana republic etc). When I came to pick them up, I tried every item on and they fit as expected! I was so delighted with the work that I just returned from my second drop off of 5 pairs of jeans, corduroy holiday pants and a dress. If you come to Luis (owner of Mike's Custom) you will have the chance to try on your items, talk through the alterations, discuss the pricing on each item and then show up within a week to pick up! He takes cash/check (which was easy to produce) and delivers incredible service!
