I have been seeing Sue for over 10 years to have clothing altered, blouses dry cleaned, and my husband has had several business suits done. She is so sweet to talk to and she does a really great job. You can tell that she knows what she's doing. She always seems to be really busy but you can still get your stuff back within a few days or a week. I would recommend Alteration Queen to anyone. I went to her again recently, to make alterations for my daughter's jumpsuit for my sister's wedding. Was one of the most unprofessional run businesses that I have ever seen. I went in to grab a dress that I got altered and I forgot my pink slip accidentally and I understood how this could be annoying but I apologized. She told me that it was ready on Friday and that I should have gotten it then and I apologized again and said I had work. She then led me to the back of the room and made me look for my own dress and barely looked herself. She then proceeded to tell me that I was lying. I have never seen such terrible customer service. I took an Etro dress to Alteration Queen today. It was a size 10 and I needed more of a 12 up top. The lady told me in no uncertain terms it could not be done. I was very surprised, but, did not argue. She honestly looked like she did not want to help me. Maybe she was having a bad day. Regardless, I knew it could be done bc I have had many such alterations like this done in the past where I lived in Washington, DC. I then went online and saw Kameel Master Stitch on Market St. So, headed there. Right away they knew what to do, measured, explained and said it will be done in a few days! I would just have to say if Alteration Queen is not qualified to do more intricate work, then just say so. But, do not tell a customer it cannot be done. I rarely take items to get altered. I am able to do basic alterations on my own, and generally don't purchase items that are going to need drastic alterations. That being said, I purchased a dress online to wear as a bridesmaid dress. The straps were too long, which left a funky gap under my arm pits. I probably could have done the alterations myself, but considering the dress was for a wedding, I didn't want to risk it. I'm so glad I didn't. When I dropped off the dress, they were able to get everything pinned how it needed to be within about a minute, and the dress was ready within a week, The cost was very reasonable (around $16). If I didn't know I had had it altered, I wouldn't be able to tell because everything was stitched together so neatly. My daughter took a very simple Ralph Lauren gown (Bought at Dillard's) just to be hemmed at the bottom. Just cut and hemmed. She arrived to pick up and the total was nearly $45.00 !!!!! That is insane and is not even in the ballpark of any seamstress. I called and complained and the person who answered hung up on me. They did reduce the price to $30.00 after my phone call but I'm guessing they did that only because they KNEW they were trying to rip off one of the kids at UTC.
