DO NOT GO TO GOLDEN LEAF ALTERATIONS ON BRAINERD ROAD
I went to this shop on Monday, January 11th to have my wedding dress fitted.
The dressing room I was told to use had two doors- a regular door with a handle for customers and then a sliding pocket door on the side of the room that led to an area for workers. When I was taking off my dress I did not notice at first that the sliding door was cracked open about a two inches or so. Once I had gotten completely out of my dress I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye. When I looked I saw a man looking through the crack in the door with his phone camera pointed right at me. I yelled at him to stop watching me and slammed the sliding door shut.
When I asked who the man was, as he was gone when I got out of the dressing room, the owner said that he was a long time customer but claimed that she did not know his name. She says that he comes in multiple times a week. He drops off an article of clothing on his lunch break, picks it up after work, pays in cash, and she never has him fill out a slip (and so that's why she doesn't have his info).
I told her that I was going to file a police report and she continuously tried to convince me not to. She said that she would give the predator my information and that we should "talk about it". I told her repeatedly not to give my information to him.
But of course, SHE GAVE MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER TO THE MAN LATER THAT DAY!
The man called me on a blocked number and kept telling me he was sorry. When I asked for his name he hesitated and said his name was "David Smith". When I asked for his phone number, he hung up.
This alterations shop came highly recommended to me on a bridal FB group and I want other brides/women to know what I experienced.
A man I don't know currently has naked pictures/video of me on his phone without my consent. And now, thanks to the owner of this shop, he also has my name and phone number. My first bridal fitting should have been a special moment, the first time I've ever seen what my dress is actually supposed to look like on that special day. And this man ruined it. And the owner made the situation even worse by trying to brush it under the rug.
It's sketchy that the woman would cover for him and try to convince me not to file a police report. Does she know this man personally? Is this a reoccurring situation?
We have contacted the police and are looking into getting a lawyer. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere, and caution you to do the same. read more
