The owner is very sweet however I had somewhat of a disappointing experience with my silk wedding dress. I sent it in to adjust the straps and sew down a section of the dress so it would lay flat. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding about what I wanted and instead of being sewn down to the dress, the section was sewn to itself with created a visible seam running through the dress that wasn't there before. To her credit, she did try to address it by pinning the area in a couple of places but it will still need to be fixed elsewhere. I also found the cost to be quite high for the work requested, especially with an added expedition fee that I wasn't anticipating for relatively minor alterations. Overall, I appreciate the effort but the result didn't meet my expectations :( read more

Not Just for Brides. I bought a sport coat online and when it arrived, it was too long in the sleeves and the hem. I showed up at my appointment time and let them take over. I don't know a lot about fashion, but they knew which questions to ask to guide me to how I wanted the coat to look. A couple of weeks later, my coat was finished. It fit perfectly and I cannot tell the difference between the original construction and the alterations. Highly recommended! read more

The people working here did a fantastic job on my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress. For the wedding dress, I had 3 layers of fabric hemmed, I got the waist taken in, and a bustle added. All three of these turned out beautifully. For the bridesmaid dress, I had the hem raised. This turned out great as well. Highly recommend this store. They are professional and punctual. Wow, this place was recommended by a non profit, where I purchased my dress my from, Brides with a Cause-- AND has great reviews to boot! I found a dress that I'm in love with and took it to Alterations Boutique. I was pretty early for my appointment that cost $35 just to be seen, I tried my dress on and the girl working seemed absolutely baffled. She encourage me to use boob tape, garment tape and, push up cups. So, I went to Target and spent another $35 on tape and garment tape and went back to Alterations Boutique. Two women were now trying to help me. The length of my dress is perfect, the waist of my dress is perfect. The bust and back lace needs to be altered. These women told me "you should get a new dress" "can you return it?" "Put it on consignment." ....... This is literally insane to say to a bride to be that found the dress of her dreams. They quoted me 225% (including $250 for a "rush")up from the price I paid for the dress to do the alterations with a preface of "this won't be perfect".... At this point I was in tears. This is NOT what a bride wants to hear 60 days from her wedding date. I found someone else that could do the alteration, felt comfortable with the changes and had no problem...for MUCH less. It just seems like they only want to do simple alterations for a premium price. Avoid this business! read more

I had a bridesmaid dress altered at a different bridal shop in Oregon that absolutely botched the hem of the dress and Nadya saved the day! I came in to her shop a week before the wedding hoping something could be done last minute and she was able to make helpful recommendations and fix the hem by the next day! She was so thoughtful to spend so much time helping me correct an issue made a completely different seamstress's shop and I am so grateful! They have such a calming environment. I have had a very stressful maid of honor dress time. But every time I come in the women are so calm and collected and kind and so helpful. Nadya and her team at Alteration Boutique do amazing work! I came in about a month ago for my wedding dress. My dress is a fit and flare, made of lace, tulle, and lots of intricate beading. As a curvy bride, I had to get a bigger size in order for it to fit my lower half, and so the upper half was way too big for me. Nadya listened to what I wanted and so the top part had to be completely reconstructed... straps shortened, top lined, waist cinched, etc. while still maintaining the beautiful and delicate details. Now it fits like a glove and executes the vision I had for my dress. I'm more in love with my dress than I was before! I got my wedding dress at The White Dress in Portland and they recommended coming here for my alterations. They couldn't have done a better job! Their appointment booking system online is really easy to use and convenient. My dress ended up fitting perfectly and they were really helpful in showing us how to bustle/letting my mom try it a few times so she felt comfortable with it for the big day. I think there's always a little sticker shock with wedding dress alterations but they seemed like fair prices to me. They also helped me with a quick alteration on the dress I wore for my rehearsal and it was painless and inexpensive. When I went in to try on the dress after my alterations they forgot to do the straps, but it was a quick 10 minute fix while I was there, not a big deal. We had a wedding dress altered and a bustle put in and it looks wonderful. We also needed a rush and they delivered.

I came here to alter the waist on a couple pairs of jeans, after being denied from other vendors due to potential complexity of the alteration. In terms of quality, this place did a great job on taking in the waist a couple inches, without having to open up the side seams of the denim -- removing any higher complexity alterations. The jeans fit much better now and the tailoring is well hidden. The service was helpful and comprehensive & the storefront appears professionally run. The only complaint I have is the pricing -- I was quoted $65 for EACH pair of pants to take the waist in an inch or so. I was told there was no need for a more complex seam opening, though the price still remained quite steep in my opinion for a simple alteration. In total I paid almost $150 for the service, which may deter me from bringing in other items in the future. I do appreciate the kindness of the manager, and the items were ready on time (1 week after drop off). read more

I came here with only 3 months to go to my wedding, and with a dress that was grossly oversized on the top half. I really did not have a lot of faith that it was going to turn out well, there were so many things wrong with the sizing of the dress, and the shop I purchased from doesn't do any alterations so I was just stuck with a dress in a size they recommended that turned out to be totally wrong for my body. Well I'm happy to say I picked up my dress yesterday after a few different fittings and alterations, and the team here was able to make lemonade! I truly was to a point where I wasn't even sure I was going to wear the dress on my wedding day, because of how bad it was, and they managed to pull through for me and make it all work so that I can now say I can comfortably wear my dress on my wedding day. I'm sorry but this place is outrageously priced for wedding dress alterations. They know you're in a hurry, and that you want the dress to be perfect, so they use that to rip you off. They took in the sides of my dress, took off one inch from the length, and trimmed the straps and charged me $1,250!!! That is literally the price of some peoples entire dress! I almost died when they quoted me! My dress shop recommended them, but since then has removed them from their recommendations list because they keep getting calls about alterations boutique ripping people off. Did they do a good job, yes, but they also aren't very friendly or helpful. I always felt a little awkward going in there, I won't use them ever again. read more

I wanted to leave a good review bc the lady was really nice but unfortunately I feel like I lost too much money to not be honest. I was honestly told by the place where I bought my dress to begin with to not go here bc "they are overcharging all brides"... but since I couldn't get an app anywhere else I still had to call this store. I went in to get my dress shortened and to make my straps stay up instead of off the shoulders. I dropped the dress off on July 12, 2022 and it wasn't done till September 13, 2022 (two weeks before my wedding). They charged me a total of $726.95 up front in July... which I've been told is a high mark up- but I couldn't say no bc no one else was taking apps at that time. When I showed up to pick up the dress the straps were super tight and there was extra fabric that popped out by the armpits.. her recommendation was "you can use double stick tape to keep it down"... I'm not confrontational so i just agreed...and i honestly was scared to see how long any additional changes would take since my wedding date was so near... The bustles that they put on looked great but guess what... they didn't work at all... my dress was on the floor nonstop and I was super disappointed. All in all, I think a few things could have been done differently. 1) they could have had a check in with me prior to the pick up date- knowing how close my wedding was... to see if they were on track 2) she should have acknowledged that they didn't fix the arms right and offered to fix it... Unfortunately, I will not be recommending this place to a few of my friends that have since gotten engaged. ***MY REPLY to your comment on Oct 24th via google maps: Your comment about prices being upfront- I didn't say they weren't. I stated that wedding dress shops are actually telling people not to come to you bc you are known to up-charge compared to other places in the area. Don't you think that alone is a huge red flag? As far as the follow up date- you only provided me one date bc you said you were busy with other alterations. No one ever offered me any additional sessions. Or else I would have taken it.. especially since my dress was over $4k.... To hear that you didn't work on the arm hole is INFURIATING. I was told that you did .... so what was the extra charge for? To add up your math alone you only mentioned $550... and you said shoulder straps in your reply... which is what I said in my review above... My charge was $726.95 You also don't acknowledge how your bustles didn't work AT ALL... I had even taken photo when i was there to teach my bridesmaids how to properly bundle the train - so don't try to tell me I did it wrong.... I don't know how you run your business... but I work in social media and when I see someone who has a JUST cause and is rightly upset - I try to meet them halfway and pride myself on customer service. I don't think you realize how uncomfortable it was to have to pick up my train all night - let alone drag on the floor and get dirty. And then to constantly pick up my straps.... From hemming my jeans (using the original hem) to completely customizing a blazer (sleeves taken up at the shoulders and hem taken up while still mimicking the original curved design), this place and the women who work here are wonderful. Very disappointed in my experience here. Booking a consultation online was nice but the mandatory $15 fee was not. I needed a dress shortened and hemmed. Pretty straight forward. As the tailor marked up my dress, the number she quoted kept changing. When she finished, I was told they charge by length and it would be $108 to hem the dress. This was in addition to the consultation fee I had already paid. I ended up calling around and was quoted $30 for the same work at two different alteration shops. I recommend shopping around as their price points are ridiculous. read more

I drove all the way from NW Portland to come here because I kept hearing good things and I was a nervous bride about my dress. My dress has beading and lace all along the areas I needed altered. But I went in for the initial meeting and the woman identified where I need the dress altered and pinned it up. Then I left the dress in her capable hands. I just lost 40lbs and had some nice clothing items that I wanted to see if altering would still allow me to wear them. Nadya was so wonderful! Some items were easily altered, but others, like a couple of blazers, would cost more to alter (I did tell her I got them on sale) than to shop for a new one with a better fit to start off with. Her dress was 5 sizes too big and they worked miracles so I had confidence knowing that they would do the same with my dress. So glad I discovered Alteration Boutique! Nadya is wonderfully skilled and extremely professional - you can tell from her handiwork that her years at Nordstrom's really show. I researched quite a few alteration places online before I went here, and was so happy to find a place that was open on Saturday (so many places are closed!!!) and could do a quick turnaround time (I called ahead). I could have went to the mall alteration place but I've been there before and they did just an OK job. Nadya was able to shorten a floor length red jumpsuit, a long delicate floor length dress, as well as tailor a silk romper that I needed the neckline pulled up but didn't want to ruin the structure of the piece. She gave me her recommendations and we talked them through ... and everything was ready in less than a week. They were perfect! Which was a huge relief as I had engagement photos that weekend that the outfits were for. I would recommend this store to anyone especially if you have more high-end items.
